A child who looks like me

Ch132 - True Madness

Eun-yeob received substantial financial support from Ham Dae-geun. As soon as he heard the news that their father had been nominated as the next Chief Justice, Dae-geun came with cash in hand.

Dae-geun was quick-witted, which made things easier in many ways. Once the special committee for the personnel hearing was formed, he would quietly begin backdoor dealings with the National Assembly members on the committee. Eun-yeob had felt overwhelmed about how to help his father after Jung Ji-heon cut ties with the family, but thanks to his foolish brother, things became much easier.

Feeling pleased with today’s achievements, Eun-yeob left work early and ran into Eun-bi at home. He had heard from their mother that Eun-bi would be bringing side dishes, but he hadn’t expected her to still be at home.

“Why are you still here?”

His sister had a disgruntled look on her face.

“Oppa, don’t you have anything to say to me?”

“What now?”

“Kim Jin-gu. You did this, didn’t you?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Then what is this?”

Eun-yeob’s eyes widened as he recognized the phone in Eun-bi’s hand.

“Are you crazy? Why are you snooping around someone else’s house?”

Eun-yeob quickly snatched the phone from her, checking its status. The phone was on, but fortunately, airplane mode hadn’t been disabled.

“You didn’t turn off airplane mode, did you? If you did, we’re both dead.”

“How could you say that?”

Eun-yeob was taken aback by Eun-bi’s panicked outburst.

“What’s wrong with you, Cha Eun-bi? Do you not understand the situation? You have no right to be angry at me. You should be thanking me!”

“What?”

“Do you think I did this for myself? This is all because of you! Because of the lie you told seven years ago! You were the one who was threatened by Kim Jin-gu! I had no choice but to get rid of him!”

With each word, Eun-yeob’s voice grew louder. Tears welled up in Eun-bi’s eyes.

“You should just quietly appreciate your brother’s capabilities and live your life. Get married, keep your mouth shut, and take care of the house so you can have peace of mind.”

“Why do you keep bringing up marriage? Why do I have to get married so urgently?”

“Then what can you do?”

For a moment, Eun-yeob lowered his voice, as if trying to calm Eun-bi, but then he snapped again. Eun-bi wanted to argue back, but she had no words left. She knew all too well that in this household, aside from marriage, she was of no use.

“Dad is going to be the Chief Justice soon. He needs Ham Dae-geun for that. So just do your part. All you have to do is behave well.”

“……”

“If you really dislike Ham Dae-geun, talk about it later. After you get married and return the inheritance, I’ll make sure it’s handled safely. Just hang in there for a few years.”

“Are you saying you can kill the man who’s going to be my husband?”

“If you don’t like that, stop whining and just live well!”

Eun-bi squeezed her eyes shut and then opened them again, overwhelmed by her brother’s furious outburst.

“Cha Eun-bi. Marriage is the best filial duty you can do. Do you understand? Don’t make things difficult for Dad, and behave properly.”

Her brother was a monster.

A Busy Day

Even after dinner time had passed and there was still no contact from Ji-heon, Jung Oh felt a bit worried.

‘I wonder if the counseling went well…’

Should she call him? Maybe not; he could have other schedules.

Unsure since she hadn’t heard about any other plans, Jung Oh hesitated but eventually stood up.

She received a call suggesting a meeting about new product ideas at Daewon Liquor. As she headed to the conference room, her teammate Song Gi-hoon followed her.

“Remi Remi is coming.”
