100 Days to Seduce the Devil

Chapter 904 The Last Mission: A Trap

Chapter 904  The Last Mission: A Trap

Day Ninety-Five…

Jane finally found Mrs. Frost. The middle-aged woman was also bleeding a lot. Her face was almost unrecognizable due to the burnt marks. "Mother," she called out.

Mrs. Frost peeled her eyes open upon hearing Jane's voice. But she couldn't see her face. Her vision became blurry at the impact of the explosion.

"Don't die on me, please," She begged her. "Please! Somebody, help! We need immediate medical attention here!" Jane called the attention of the responders, hoping they could still save Mrs. Frost.

Mrs. Frost tried to hold Jane's hand. In her weak voice, she mumbled, "How is everyone?'

Jane fell silent for a moment before she spoke up. "Don't worry, Mother. My sisters are just fine. So you have to be strong and survive." She lied!

But Mrs. Frost already knew that her daughters were not safe. Jane was just trying to console her. She could see through her lies. Even though she couldn't see, Mrs. Frost could feel the droplets of tears falling down her cheeks. Jane was shedding tears.

'I feel sorry for my daughter, Phantomflake… she has to witness this. And it looks like we will get separated from her… for real. Maybe, this is for the best so that she can move forward and start fresh. We've killed so many people. We deserve this kind of death as punishment.' Mrs. Frost thought to herself, gently squeezing Jane's hand.

Mrs. Frost reached out, her hands cupping Jane's face. "Jane… don't be sad. Remember, that things happen for a reason. You have to forget about those bad things and move forward. You should live happily with your loved ones."

"Yes. And you are one of those, Mother. So you have to live and survive for me. Okay?" Jane said in her pleading tone. There was a hint of desperation in her eyes.

Mrs. Frost didn't say anymore. She could understand Jane's feelings. If she spoke again as though she was bidding her farewell, Jane would become more devastated. She just nodded in response while caressing her cheeks.

Soon, the responders approached Jane and Mrs. Frost. They gently lifted her body as they transferred her to the stretcher.

"Ma'am, Don't worry. We will take care of her. You can accompany the patient inside the ambulance. Follow us." The medical staff escorted Jane and Mrs. Frost to the available ambulance.

Nathan saw them so he stood up, striding toward Jane. He wanted to accompany Jane in the ambulance going to the ambulance.

However, before he could reach her spot, another medical staff blocked Nathan's path. "Sir, you can't go there. You should ride another ambulance. Your wound is not severe. We have to separate the severely wounded from those who are not."

Nathan frowned in annoyance. "Don't block me. I'll have to join her."

"No, Sir, You can't. It's our protocol. Please don't be stubborn. You can see them in the hospital. You will be transferred to the same hospital. You just need to ride another ambulance." The medical staff explained to him.

"Nate. Listen to her. She's right. This is part of the protocol. Come. I'll accompany you. The two of us only have minor wounds. I'll stitch your stab wound inside the ambulance." Stephen finally intervened. Arguing with the medical staff would just delay their response.

Nathan could only sigh in frustration. With no choice left, Nathan followed Stephen and rode a different ambulance.

The police officers had also started to cordon the area, investigating the cause of the explosions.

As Stephen started to stitch Nathan's wound, he started asking his thoughts. "Nate, do you suspect anyone who might be responsible for this?"

A cold glint flashed through Nathan's eyes. He suspected Vincent. However, he was under the surveillance of his men. He couldn't do anything. Furthermore, no one contacted him from the headquarters so he assumed everything was fine on their end.

"Honestly, I suspect Vincent. But he is powerless right now. I have so many enemies. The same with the Phantom Assassin Guild. But this matter is quite serious. Someone knew about my proposal and the enemy was so clever to install those bombs to our materials and decorations." Nathan started blaming himself for this tragedy.

"I know what is your thinking. Don't blame yourself, Nate. If someone is to blame, it should have been Aiden and me. We were the ones who arranged the delivery of these items." Just like Nathan, Stephen also felt guilty for what happened. He was also at fault for not checking the items carefully.

"I know you and Aiden won't betray me. Someone is pulling the string behind. It's not you. And it's not definitely Aiden. He is too stupid to scheme like this. And you are a doctor. You won't kill anyone," Nathan said, also consoling Stephen. He trusts them both with his life.

"Thanks, Bro. Don't worry. We will get to the bottom of this and find the real culprit."

Nathan and Stephen swore that they would catch the culprit and punish him at all costs.

Meanwhile, the ambulance carrying Mrs. Frost started to depart from the resort. Jane was sitting next to her, holding her hand.

"Mother, don't fall asleep. I'm just here. I'll talk to you until we reach the hospital. You don't have to speak. You can squeeze my hand from time to time, letting me know that you are still listening to me."

Mrs. Frost responded with a gentle squeeze of her palm. Jane smiled since she could see that Mrs. Frost was still trying to fight for her life. She didn't want Jane to be sad. And she would like to listen to her voice for so long.

Jane started to reminisce about her training with Mrs. Frost. She didn't care about the medical staff who were with them, listening to their conversation. She didn't even pay attention to them. Her eyes were only fixed on Mrs. Frost.

But along the way, Mrs. Frost's vitals dropped and the beeping sound of the machine echoed inside the ambulance.

"Ma'am, please move aside. The patient is experiencing a cardiac arrest."

The medical staff immediately moved, trying to revive Mrs. Frost, applying CPR and using the defibrillator. After several attempts, the medics failed to revive her. The monitor which was connected to her chest showed a straight line, indicating the patient had passed away.

Jane shook her head in disbelief and denial. "No! No! Please don't stop! Keep reviving her! We are not yet in the hospital."

Jane snatched the defibrillator from the medical staff. However, even before she could press it against Mrs. Frost's chest, another staff member injected something into her neck.

The action made Jane pause. She turned to the person, only to be surprised upon recognizing him.

"Vincent?!" She mumbled, her eyes widening in shock.

At that certain moment, Jane knew who was responsible for the bombing. It was none other than, Vincent!

'What is he doing here? I thought Nathan had him monitored by his men in Country M.'

"I told you, Jane. You can't be with Nathan. This happened to you because you chose him over me," Vincent said.

Jane was about to attack him, but her mind became hazy. She felt dizzy. Then, a realization dawned on her: Vincent had injected her with sedatives. The medical staff inside were Vincent's men, including the ambulance driver.

"Fuck! This is a trap! He captured me," Jane cursed inwardly before she passed out.
