Humanity is at war. Beset on all sides, their empire is standing only through the combined forces of technology and magic. Massive mechs were constructed, the fabled Colossus Machines, designed to defend the galaxy, and the Mages were rallied, bringing forth elemental destruction. Despite their efforts, it wasn't nearly enough. The Elvish Menace managed to breach the outer rim of planets, invading and conquering dozens of planets, leaving millions behind to try and pick up the pieces. Charon was one of them. An orphan from Earth, he was sent into a trial to fight for his powers, earning the gaze of the God of Death. Judged to be worthy, he was granted a rare and reviled aspect. Gifted with the ability to use souls as gateways, he summons forth creatures from distant realms. Undead monsters, hateful revenants, and blood-sucking vampires all fill the ranks of the dark hordes, all waiting for him to call out. With great armies at his back, Charon will fight under the banner of the Human Empire, determined to beat back the Elves who destroyed his home. Planets must be claimed, their populations subjugated and converted to new faiths to grow the power of the gods. The other churches, however, will not sit idly by as Charon rises...
