Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space

Chapter 445: Space Distortion ( 3 )

With more than ninety percent of the crystals buried under the ground, the pile looked like nothing more than rocks. Before she could find out what was going on, she saw a gush of black energy flow into her spatial device.

The dimmed space absorbed the energy as if it had been starved for millennia. As it absorbed the energy, the fog slowly dispersed and turned into energy that seeped into the core of the spatial device.

This was the first time Jiao Lizhi witnessed how her space actually evolved and upgraded. At this moment, she was too stunned to blink.

As a wisp of consciousness, she lost her sense of time. She didn't know how long she had been watching the space device evolve. It might have been only an hour, or it might have been a year, who knew?

Feeling bored, she floated around the vast space for a long time. Suddenly, she noticed cracks similar to spiderwebs on the edge of her space.

As she traced the cracks with her fingertips, a strong suction force pulled at her consciousness. Before she was engulfed by darkness, she heard a faint mechanical voice echo in her mind.

'Host…signal…Gaia…lock in location…'

When she opened her eyes, Jiao Lizhi was taken aback as she stared into her fiancée's pale face. Before she could ask what had happened to him, he leaned down to hug her.

As he buried his face in the curve of her shoulder, Jin Xuyan said hoarsely, "Ah Zhi, you finally woke up."

After a while, Jiao Lizhi finally asked, "Brother Yan, what happened to me?"

Hearing this, Jin Xuyan let her go and replied, "After you took away the minerals, you suddenly fainted."

"How long have I been unconscious?" she asked again.

"It has been half a month."

The moment she heard this, Jiao Lizhi sat up suddenly and said, "Brother Yan, the second rain."

Jin Xuyan nodded and glanced at the closed window. Even from inside, they could hear the clear sound of raindrops hitting the rooftop and windows.

Jiao Lizhi thought for a moment before she said, "Brother Yan, let's go back as soon as possible."

The two of them knew that this rain would last for a long time, and during this period, it was dangerous to stay outside the base.

"Ah Zhi, we can't use the chopper."

"Why?"

Jin Xuyan did not reply to her and went to open the window instead. As soon as the window was opened, they saw the dark sky flash as lightning crossed as if it wanted to split the heavens. Thunder roared, mixing with the sound of the heavy rainstorm.

With the current weather, it was indeed impossible to travel by aircraft. Their only option right now was to use cars.

"You just woke up and have not yet fully recovered. Stay here, I will go inform the members. We will depart as soon as possible," Jin Xuyan said before he left the room.

After she was alone, Jiao Lizhi entered her space and opened the information panel. Besides the additional crystal hill and the fog becoming thinner, there was nothing different in her space.

She looked around for a while before she went to get some food and left the space. When she finished eating, Jin Xuyan returned from outside and said, "Ah Zhi, it's time to depart."

"Okay."

The moment the members saw her, they walked over and asked about her condition. Noticing their concern, Jiao Lizhi smiled and said, "I'm sorry for making everyone worry about me. I'm fine now."

"Sister-in-law, if you feel unwell, just let us know," Gao Bohai said.

"Okay. Thank you, Brother Gao," Jiao Lizhi nodded.

While the Phantom Team members traveled back in armored cars, Commander Xun Che was having a meeting in the Lin'an City Base.

Sitting around the round table, Wen Hanli said, "Commander, we have increased the patrols and tightened the security inside the base. So far, the survivors have followed orders, and there have been no reports of zombies appearing inside the base yet."

"How about the situation outside the base?" Xun Che asked.

"According to the information brought back by the scout teams, there were no zombies spotted within a radius of five kilometers from the base's perimeter. As for the plants and animals, none have been spotted," Wang He reported.

Xun Che nodded and said, "Call all the teams outside to return as soon as possible. Make sure that the water reservoirs and planting areas are covered well and not contaminated by the rainwater."

"Understood," Wen Hanli nodded.

Just after he finished speaking, they heard a knock, and soon after, a soldier entered the room. After he saluted them, he said grimly, "Commander, we received a report from the Yunshan City Base just now. Commander Feng Xiu has passed away."

The moment they heard this news, everyone was shocked. Xun Che stood up from his seat in disbelief and asked, "What did you say?"

"Commander Feng Xiu passed away at five o'clock this morning," the soldier replied.

After hearing the news for the second time, Xun Che finally realized that he was not dreaming. Feng Xiu had really passed away. She was still gone after holding on for more than half a month.

He sat back in his chair with a pale face. Clenching his fists tightly, he said, "Issue a wanted order. Whoever catches Rong Qinyu will be rewarded with fifty thousand crystal cores."

"Commander, it might be hard to catch him alive," Xie Zhou reminded him.

"Dead or alive, bring him back to me," Xun Che replied coldly.

"Understood," Xie Zhou replied and left the meeting room.

Noticing that their Commander was not in the mood for a meeting, Wen Hanli left the room, followed by the staff and the leaders.

When he was finally alone, Xun Che gritted his teeth and muttered hoarsely, "Feng Xiu, you bastard. You not only forgot about your promise, you even dared to die before me."
