Yugioh Arc V: Legends of the Red-Eyes

Chapter 12: Destined Enemies! Return of the xyz remnants P4

Legend of the Red Eye

Authors note I don't own Yugioh or any of its characters. This Fanfic follows a boy with a red eyes deck.

Hope you enjoy.

"Yes," Yuma sneered, his tone venomous, "that's it. Continue to beg. Continue to plead for mercy. It only makes my revenge sweeter—for my friends and family that YOU TURNED INTO CARDS!"

A brilliant, sinister purple light erupted from his duel disk, its glow bathing the warehouse in an unholy aura.

Sora and I could only watch in horror, paralyzed as the light enveloped the Obelisk duelists. Their terrified screams echoed in the warehouse until they were silenced, replaced by the soft thud of two cards hitting the floor.

The cards landed face-up, the agonized expressions of the two Obelisk students frozen in time. Their faces stared back at us, lifeless and trapped.

we couldn't move. we couldn't breathe. All we could do was stare, helpless, as the horrifying reality sank in.

Chapter 12: Destined Enemies! Return of the xyz remnants P4

"Kai… we need to get out of here," Sora muttered weakly, his voice trembling. "This guy… he's too strong."

His words snapped me out of my daze. I looked up to see Yuma's gaze finally lock onto me. His smirk widened with cruel satisfaction.

"Well, well," Yuma sneered. "You're here too. Perfect. Once I've dealt with your little friend, you're going to tell me everything about Duel Academy. Then, I'll make you wish you'd never crossed me… before I turn you into a card." His laughter echoed like a villain savouring his victory, dark and unhinged.

We were in serious trouble. My eyes darted to the figures behind Yuma. Yuto stood silently, his expression conflicted, as though questioning the path they were taking. Beside him was a much taller man clad in a long blue trench coat, his sharp eyes scanning us with street-hardened confidence. He gave off the air of someone who was used to winning, no matter the cost.

Yuma turned back to Sora, his grin widening. "Now, Sora, was it? Be a good little dog and step forward. Time to pay your debt." His tone was dripping with mockery as he closed the distance between us, each step heavier than the last.

Sora tugged at my arm. "Kai, please, snap out of it!" His desperation shook me free of my lingering fear.

Without another thought, I grabbed Sora, throwing him over my shoulder as I jumped onto my DuelCycle. The engine roared to life, and I accelerated in a flash, leaving a trail of dust behind us. Yuma's face twisted in shock as we sped away.

"Hey! Get back here! You can't escape me!" Yuma bellowed, his rage boiling over.

His voice faded into the distance, but I knew this wasn't over. Yuma wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted—and next time, we might not be so lucky.

Back at the Leo Instute.

I stood there as Sora was escorted back from his inspection with Declan's personal doctors. The once-bright spark in his eyes was gone, replaced by something far darker. His expression, once filled with mischievous energy and lighthearted bravado, now twisted into something I barely recognized.

He glared at the floor, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. His breathing was sharp and ragged, each exhale heavier than the last, like he was trying to hold back a storm inside him. But it wasn't working.

When his eyes finally met mine, I froze. They weren't the playful, vibrant eyes that had once brought energy to every room he walked into. They were now wild and furious, burning with pure, unrestrained rage. The intensity in his gaze was almost suffocating, like staring into a fire that threatened to consume everything in its path.

He didn't say a word, but his presence screamed louder than any outburst ever could. Every movement—his tense shoulders, his quick, almost violent turns of the head—radiated frustration and anger. It was as if he were a coiled spring, ready to snap at the slightest provocation.

This wasn't the Sora I knew; I couldn't even recognise him. This was someone driven to the edge, someone consumed by fury. Although maybe this wasn't something new. Maybe this was the real Sora—the one he had always hidden from us. There was still something missing. Something I just couldn't ignore.

I looked to my side and saw Declan, calm and collected as always, his sharp gaze unwavering. His unnerving composure was starting to piss me off.

"What was Sora doing there with those Obelisk Blue members in the first place?" I demanded, my voice cracking under the weight of my frustration.

Declan didn't flinch. He just gave me that same cold, calculating look, like he was assessing a pawn on a chessboard. It was as if he thought I was too stupid to understand what was right in front of me.

His silence only fueled my growing anger. "Answer me!" I snapped, stepping closer, fists clenched. "What aren't you telling me, Declan?!"

Finally, he spoke, his voice calm, yet sharp enough to cut through my outrage. "I think you already know the answer to that."

"No," I said, shaking my head immediately. "No, you're wrong."

Declan raised an eyebrow, his lips curling ever so slightly into what felt like a mocking smirk. "Am I?"

I clenched my jaw, my hands shaking at my sides. "Sora… He's not from there. He couldn't be. He's—he's one of us!" I blurted out, though my words sounded more desperate than convincing.

Declan crossed his arms, unbothered by my outburst. "You've seen it yourself, haven't you? His tactics, his behavior. Everything about him screams Fusion Dimension. And now, after what's happened…" He gestured vaguely toward where Sora had been taken. "You still want to deny it?"

"He's just a kid!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the empty hallway. "He doesn't belong with them! He—he came here to fight alongside us, to help us! Why would he do that if he was one of them?"

Declan's calm demeanor didn't waver, but there was something colder in his eyes now. "You tell me, Kai. Why would someone from the Fusion Dimension infiltrate our ranks, get close to Yuya, and gather information about Duel Academy? What better way to destabilize us than from the inside?"

"No! That's not Sora!" I yelled, stepping forward. My chest heaved, and my thoughts raced, trying to find anything—any reason—that could disprove Declan's words. "He fought with us. He laughed with us. He's my friend. He wouldn't…" My voice faltered.

Declan tilted his head slightly, his voice softer now, almost pitying. "Sometimes, the hardest truths are the ones we refuse to see."

I shook my head violently, refusing to let his words take root. "You're wrong," I muttered, though even I could hear the uncertainty creeping into my voice. "Sora's not like them. He's not…"

But as the words hung in the air, memories started flashing in my mind. The way Sora always seemed to avoid answering questions about his past. The ruthless way he fought in duels, far more aggressive than any of us. The way his eyes burned with an intensity that felt out of place, even for someone as fiery as him.

"No," I said again, my voice barely above a whisper now. "He's one of us. He has to be."

Declan turned away, his expression unreadable. "Believe what you want, Kai. But sooner or later, you'll have to face the truth. The question is, will you be ready for it when it comes?"

I stood there, my mind spinning, my heart aching. I couldn't believe it. I wouldn't believe it. Not Sora. Not him.

"Can you leave us alone for a minute?" I asked, my eyes overshadowed by my hair. Declan looked at me for a good second before nodding, walking away with his security.

Unable to hold myself back any longer, I stormed into the room. My eyes locked onto Sora immediately. He stood there, leaning against the far wall with an expression I'd never seen on him before—cold, distant, almost disdainful. His gaze bore into me like I was nothing more than an insignificant worm beneath his feet.

The sight of him like this—the Sora I thought I knew—set something off inside me. Without thinking, I rushed forward, grabbed his shirt, and slammed him against the wall.

"Tell them! Tell me!" I shouted, my voice cracking with desperation. "You aren't from Duel Academy, right?"

Sora's expression shifted slightly. His brow furrowed, and for a fleeting moment, his eyes reflected confusion. That tiny flicker gave me a sliver of hope, a fragile ember in the suffocating darkness surrounding us. Maybe he didn't understand. Maybe this was all a misunderstanding.

Sora's expression shifted slightly. His brow furrowed, and for a fleeting moment, his eyes reflected confusion. That tiny flicker gave me a sliver of hope, a fragile ember in the suffocating darkness surrounding us. Maybe he didn't understand. Maybe this was all some kind of misunderstanding.

That fragile hope was snuffed out with his next words.

"So what if I am?" he said, his voice dripping with venom. "Aren't you?"

I froze, the accusation catching me off guard. "What are you talking about?" I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended.

Sora's eyes narrowed, his confusion giving way to suspicion. "Don't play dumb with me, Kai. I know you're from Duel Academy. You run that Red-Eyes Fusion deck, don't you? Only Duel Academy duellists use that kind of power."

For a moment, his words rendered me speechless. Then, anger surged through me. I released him, taking a step back as I glared at him.

"You think I'm one of them?" I snapped. "You've got it all wrong, Sora. I'm from the Resistance—the people fighting against Duel Academy and everything it stands for!"

His expression faltered; his confidence replaced by genuine surprise. "The Resistance?" he repeated, as if the words were foreign to him.

"Yes," I shot back, my voice firm. "The Resistance. The ones standing against Duel Academy's tyranny, against their sick obsession with turning people into cards!"

Sora's jaw tightened, and for a moment, I thought he might argue. But then his expression darkened. His hands balled into fists, and his voice dropped to a low, dangerous growl.

"Then I guess we really are enemies," he said, his tone icy.

I stared at him, stunned. "Sora, don't—"

"Save it, Kai," he interrupted, his voice rising as anger overtook him. "You think I don't know what the Resistance has done? How many people you've taken out in your so-called fight for freedom?" His eyes blazed with fury, his body trembling with barely restrained rage. "You're no different from Duel Academy!"

"That's not true!" I shot back, my own frustration boiling over. "We're fighting to protect people, to stop Duel Academy from destroying lives! We fight to bring smiles to our dimension. Yusho Sakaki makes sure of this."

Sora laughed bitterly, the sound harsh and unkind. "Protect people? Stop lying to yourself, Kai. The Resistance you call the 'Yusho Duel school' is just as ruthless, just as blind to the damage it causes. Don't pretend you're the hero in this story."

I felt my fists tighten, my nails digging into my palms. "Your lying!" Sora didn't answer me as he just stared with a blank look.

"And what about you, Sora? why are you siding with them?"

He didn't answer right away. For a moment, the fire in his eyes dimmed, replaced by something I couldn't quite read—regret? Sadness? But just as quickly, it was gone, and the mask of anger returned.

"Because unlike you, I know where I stand," he said coldly. "And I don't need to justify it to anyone."

The words hit like a punch to the gut, but before I could respond, he stepped away, putting distance between us.

We stood there, the air between us heavy with unspoken words and unresolved tension. Sora, my friend—the person I thought I could trust—the person I thought as my brother, was now staring at me as if I were his mortal enemy.

"So, is that it?" I asked, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation. "You're just going to throw everything away? Everything we had since you came here?"

Sora's expression didn't waver, his eyes cold and unfeeling, but I pressed on. "You don't have to follow that crazy professor. You don't have to do this! You have a family, Sora. Me, Yuya, and Yoko—we care about you. We—"

"Shut it!" Sora roared, cutting me off. His voice echoed in the room, filled with a rage that made me flinch.

For a moment, the room fell into an oppressive silence, broken only by the sound of his heavy breathing. Then, with a sneer, he leaned closer, his words sharper than any blade. "Don't you get it yet? There is no family. There never was."

His words hit like a sledgehammer, but he wasn't finished.

"Everything was fake," he spat, his tone laced with venom. "Every laugh, every smile—it was all a lie. I never thought of any of you as anything more than tools, pawns for the Professor's plan."

I stared at him, stunned, my heart sinking like a stone. "Sora…" I whispered, barely able to say his name.

But he wasn't done tearing me apart. "Do you really think I came here because I cared? That I wanted to be part of your little family fantasy?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "The Professor sent me here to gather information, to get close to the son of his greatest enemy. And it worked. You all fell for it."

"You're lying," I said, though my voice faltered. The conviction I tried to hold onto was slipping through my fingers like sand. "You're just trying to push me away. You're scared—scared of what it means to have people who care about you!"

"Scared?" he repeated, laughing bitterly. "I'm not scared, Kai. I'm just telling the truth—the truth you don't want to hear. You, Yuya, Yoko… none of it mattered. None of you mattered."

The weight of his words crushed the air from my lungs. I wanted to believe he didn't mean it, that he was saying all of this to protect us somehow, but the coldness in his eyes told a different story.

"You don't mean that," I said, shaking my head, my voice barely a whisper. "You can't."

For a split second, I thought I saw something flicker in his eyes—regret, hesitation, or maybe even guilt. But just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished, replaced by the icy resolve he wore like armour.

"You're wasting your time, Kai," he said, his tone flat. "This is who I am. Who I've always been. Stop holding onto a fantasy that never existed."

I stood there, frozen, as he turned and walked away, his footsteps echoing like a death knell in the hollow corridor. Each step felt like a hammer striking against the fragile foundation of what I thought I knew. His words replayed in my mind, relentless and unforgiving, cutting deeper with every repetition.

I wanted to call out, to stop him, to say something that would shatter the wall he'd built between us. But the weight of his betrayal kept my voice trapped in my throat.

Sora paused near the door, glancing back at me one last time. For a fleeting moment, I thought I saw something in his eyes—hesitation, doubt, maybe even regret. But it was gone just as quickly, replaced by that cold, detached mask he'd worn since the truth had come to light.

"Goodbye, Kai," he said, his voice hollow. "Don't try to follow me."

And then he was gone.

It wasn't until I heard the faint sound of an emergency alarm in the distance that I realized what he was doing. My body jolted into motion, my feet moving before my mind caught up.

"No!" I shouted, sprinting after him.

By the time I reached the corridor where he'd disappeared, the exit door was already swinging shut. Beyond it, I caught a glimpse of him dashing into the shadows, his figure blending seamlessly with the night.

"Sora!" I yelled, my voice cracking with desperation. But he didn't stop.

I shoved the door open and ran outside, the cool night air biting at my skin. The sound of distant alarms blared from the building, mingling with the frantic shouts of security personnel. Searchlights swept the area, their beams slicing through the darkness, but Sora was nowhere to be seen.

I stumbled to a stop, my chest heaving, my hands clenched into fists at my sides. He was gone.

The weight of the moment crashed down on me, and I sank to my knees. My mind raced with questions and emotions I couldn't untangle. Was there ever a chance to bring him back? Had I failed him, or was there never even a chance of changing him?

As I sat there, staring into the darkness, I realized something chilling: Sora wasn't just running away. He was leaving behind everything—and everyone—that had once mattered to him.

"Heh, what has happened to me?" I muttered, my voice barely audible as I stared up at the darkened sky. The stars seemed distant, cold, and indifferent, much like the path I used to walk. I had become soft. Before I even stepped foot into this dimension, I wouldn't have hesitated. The moment I suspected Sora of treachery, I would've taken him out of the picture without a second thought. No hesitation. No remorse.

But now? Now, I was hesitating. For what? Like he said, all of this wasn't real. The laughter, the bonds, the warmth we shared with the Sakaki family—it was all a fabrication. A lie.

Yet, as much as I tried to convince myself of that, pictures raced through my mind: Yuya's relentless optimism, Yoko's teasing but caring demeanor, the three kids with their boundless energy, Shuzo's unshakable belief in everyone, Yuzu's fiery determination, and even Sora's mischievous grin.

They had shown me something I hadn't felt in years. What it meant to live without constantly chasing vengeance. They taught me what it was like to breathe, to laugh, to live.

But was that all fake?

Yuzu…Her words echoed in my mind, clear and unwavering as if she were standing beside me now.

"Kai, what you're carrying isn't a debt—it's a legacy."

I could see her face in my mind, that mix of kindness and determination she always carried. "Your teacher's teachings live on in you, not as a burden, but as a gift. If he believed in you enough to pass on his knowledge, don't you think that means you're capable of greatness?"

I closed my eyes and let her voice linger, grounding me. The determination in her words struck something deep within me. She wasn't here, but her belief in me hadn't faded.

When I opened my eyes, I knew what I had to do. I wasn't going to let Sora be consumed by the darkness, no matter what he'd said, no matter how far he'd tried to push us away.

Sora wasn't just a tool for the Professor, no matter how much he tried to convince himself otherwise. He was more than that, and I'd seen it. The way he'd laughed with Yuya, teased the kids, and even argued with me—it wasn't fake. It couldn't have been.

"Sora," I muttered, clenching my fists. "You don't get to throw all of that away. Not like this."

The old me might have written him off, but not anymore. I'd seen what it was like to have people you cared about, people who gave you strength. The Sakakis, Yuzu, even Sora—they'd taught me that.

I took a deep breath, the weight in my chest easing just slightly as determination replaced doubt. Sora was lost, yes, but he wasn't beyond saving.

"I'm bringing you back," I said, my voice steady, the words solidifying into a vow. "Back to the family you're too stubborn to admit you have."

The path ahead wouldn't be easy, but I'd made my choice. No matter what it took, I would get Sora back—and this time, I wouldn't hesitate.

1 Hour later

The night stretched on endlessly as I tore through the darkened streets, my Duel Disk humming faintly against my arm. Sora was out there somewhere, and I couldn't let him slip away—not this time.

"Sora!" I shouted, my voice cutting through the stillness of the night. It echoed back at me, mocking my desperation.

The city felt empty, the usual buzz of activity replaced by an eerie silence. Shadows stretched long under the pale glow of streetlights, each one playing tricks on my mind. For a moment, I thought I saw his figure dart around a corner, but when I reached it, there was nothing.

My heart pounded, frustration boiling over. He was fast, and he knew how to stay hidden. But I wasn't going to give up. I couldn't.

I stopped at a crossroads, my breaths coming in short, sharp gasps. "Think, Kai, think," I muttered to myself, raking a hand through my hair. Sora wasn't aimless—he had to have a plan, a destination.

The Leo Institute alarms were still faintly audible in the distance, growing quieter as I ran farther from the facility. He wouldn't go back there, not with security tightening the perimeter.

I scanned the streets, my eyes darting from shadow to shadow. Sora's movements had always been calculated. He'd find a place where he could regroup, someplace off the grid. But where?

The answer hit me like a punch to the gut: the abandoned warehouse district. It was where we'd trained together when we first arrived in this dimension. A secluded area, away from prying eyes. If Sora wanted to lay low, it was the perfect spot.

I didn't waste another second. Sprinting down the nearest alley, I pushed my body to its limit, the cold night air stinging my lungs. Every step felt heavier, the weight of my vow pressing down on me, but I kept moving.

When I finally reached the warehouse district, the faint sound of metal clinking caught my attention. I slowed my pace, my heart racing as I crept closer to the source.

There he was.

Sora stood near one of the rusted loading docks, his Duel Disk at his side, his back to me. The moonlight cast his shadow long against the cracked pavement.

"Sora!" I called, my voice breaking the stillness.

He froze, his shoulders tensing. Slowly, he turned to face me, his expression unreadable. For a moment, we just stood there, staring at each other.

"You're persistent," he said, his voice carrying a hint of irritation. "But you should've stayed out of this, Kai."

I took a step forward, fists clenched. "I can't. Not when I know you're throwing everything away. Sora, you don't have to do this. Come back with me."

He let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "You don't get it, do you? There's nothing to go back to. Everything we had—it was a lie. A game I was playing for the Professor. You were just another part of the plan."

"You're lying!" I shouted, my voice trembling. "If it was all a lie, then why do you look so torn? Why didn't you leave sooner? You felt it too, Sora. You felt what it was like to have a family!"

His eyes flickered for the briefest moment, and I saw something—hesitation, doubt. But it was gone as quickly as it came.

"I don't have time for this," he muttered, turning away.

"No!" I moved closer, my voice rising. "You don't get to walk away from this, Sora! From us! You're not alone, no matter what the Professor made you believe!"

He stopped but didn't turn back. "It's too late, Kai. Go home. Forget about me."

"I can't," I said, my voice soft but resolute. "Because I believe in you. And I'm not leaving without you."

For a moment, silence hung between us, heavy and suffocating. Then, without another word, Sora activated his Duel Disk, the faint hum of its energy slicing through the night.

"If you want to stop me, you'll have to duel me," he said, his voice cold. "But I won't go easy on you."

I stared at him, my heart aching. I didn't want it to come to this, but if dueling was the only way to reach him, so be it.

I activated my Duel Disk, the familiar weight grounding me. "Fine," I said, my voice steady. "If that's what it takes to bring you back, then let's do this."

Our gazes locked, and in that moment, the world around us seemed to fade away. This duel wasn't about victory or defeat—it was about saving Sora from himself. And I wasn't going to lose.

"Duel!"

I looked at my opening hand: Monster Reborn, Metalmorph, Black Dragon's Chick, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, and Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Not bad.

"I'll start strong," I declared. "I'll be summoning Black Dragon's Chick!" A small black chicken suddenly appeared.

Black Dragon's Chick LV1 (ATK 800/DEF 500)

"And now with its effect I send it to the graveyard in order to summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my hand.

Red-Eyes Black Dragon LV7 (ATK 2400/DEF 2000)

My trusty black dragon roared to life, its crimson eyes glowing fiercely. It felt good to have it at my side—it reminded me of what I was fighting for.

"I set two cards face-down and end my turn."

"Pathetic start, I expected more." I just ignored him, determined to bring him to his senses. "Allow me to show you how a real duellist from the fusion dimension duels." Said sora as he drew his card.

Sora's smirk widened as he drew his card. "My turn! I summon Fluffal Bear!"

Fluffal Bear LV3 (ATK 1200/ DEF 800)

The strange, stuffed bear appeared on his field, looking as harmless as a toy—until Sora's next move.

"I activate its effect, sending it to the Graveyard to set Toy Vendor directly from my Deck!" A colorful vending machine materialized behind him, its cheerful appearance at odds with the tension in the air.

"Now I activate Toy Vendor! I discard Edge Imp Chain to draw a card. And thanks to Chain's effect, I add Frightfur Fusion to my hand."

I watched as the shadows around him deepened. He was building up to something big, and I had to be ready for it.

"I activate Polymerization! I fuse Edge Imp Sabres and Fluffal Wings to summon Frightfur Tiger!"

Frightfur Tiger LV6 (ATK 1900/DEF 1200)

A monstrous tiger with jagged stitches and gleaming claws emerged on his field, its roar echoing in the night.

"Tiger's effect activates! I can destroy cards on your field equal to the materials I used to summon it. Say goodbye to your backrow!"

I grimaced as the tiger lunged, tearing apart my two face-down cards.

"Not so fast!" I countered. "I activate Metalmorph! I equip it to Red-Eyes Black Dragon to transform it into Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon!"

Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon LV8 (ATK 2800/2400)

My dragon shimmered as metallic armor enveloped it, giving it an imposing new form.

"Hmph. Not bad," Sora admitted, clearly annoyed as his turn ended. "Your move,"

I drew my next card: Pot of Greed. A smile tugged at my lips. "I activate Pot of Greed to draw two more cards!"

I drew Red-Eyes Spirit and Light and Darkness Dragon. Perfect.

"I set one card face-down. Then, I'll have Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon attack your Frightfur Tiger!"

The clash was intense, but my dragon came out victorious, obliterating the tiger and shaving away some of Sora's Life Points.

"I end."

Sora glared as he drew. "You think one monster is enough to stop me? Think again. I activate Frightfur Fusion! By banishing Fluffal Bear and Edge Imp Chain along with Frightfur Tiger from my Graveyard, I summon Frightfur Sabre-Tooth!"

Frightfur Sabre-Tooth LV8 (ATK 2400/DEF 2000)

The stitched-together monstrosity loomed over the battlefield, its multiple heads snarling in unison.

"Sabre-Tooth's effect activates! My Frightfur monsters gain 400 ATK, and Sabre-Tooth can't be destroyed by battle!"

At 2800 ATK, it was a real threat. "Sabre-Tooth, attack Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon!"

The monster lunged at my dragon, they where even as my Sabre-tooth bit down on the dragon and my dragon swiped its claw on it. However, Sabre-tooth barely looked like felt it as he bit a bit harder destroyed my black metal dragon,

Sora smirked before ending his turn.

I frowned. I gotta get more serious if I ever hoped of getting thought to Sora. He is a tough opponent. Wouldn't expect anything else from a duel academy student.

Turn 5: My Turn

I drew Dragon's Mirror and grinned. "Time to turn this around! I activate Red-Eyes Spirit to bring back Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

My loyal dragon returned, its roar shaking the air.

"Next, I use Monster Reborn to bring back Black Dragon's Chick and tribute it along with Red-Eyes Black Dragon to summon Light and Darkness Dragon!"

Light and Darkness Dragon LV8 (ATK 2800/2400)

"While its on the field its either light or dragon, and the one im choosing is light!"

The majestic dragon of duality descended, its radiant and shadowy wings spreading wide.

"But I'm not done! I activate Dragon's Mirror! By banishing Light and Darkness Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, I Fusion Summon Light and Darkness Dragonlord!"

Light and Darkness Dragonlord LV10 (ATK 3400/3000)

"You don't stand a chance! I attack your Sabre-tooth dragon."

"Due to it being summoned by three monsters it can't be destroyed by battle."

"But you still take damage." I said with a smirk as the attack hit, sending Sora flying backwords.

Sora LP: 2400

I clentched my fists. I didn't like this. I didn't like hurting my friends. "Sora! Lets stop this madness. Come on snap out of it and lets go home."

Sora picked himself off as he once again scowled at Kai. "What part of I'm not going back do you not understand. I guess I'll just have to duel it out of you." He spat as I just looked at him sadly. "I draw!"

Sora smirked, drawing his card with a dramatic flair. "You've got power, Kai, but I'm just getting started. Let me show you what my deck can really do!"

He held up a card. "I activate the effect of Toy Vendor in my Graveyard! By banishing it, I draw one card, and if it's a Fluffal monster, I can summon it immediately!"

Sora drew his card, flipping it over with a grin. "I drew Fluffal Penguin!"

Fluffal Penguin LV4 (ATK1600/DEF 1100)

The small, fluffy penguin appeared on his field, flapping its wings enthusiastically. "And when Fluffal Penguin is on the field, I can summon one Fluffal monster from my hand. I summon Fluffal Owl!"

Fluffal Owl LV2 (ATK 1000/DEF 1000)

Two Fluffals now occupied Sora's field, but he wasn't done. "Fluffal Owl's effect activates! I add Polymerization from my Deck to my hand!"

Sora slid the card into his Duel Disk. "And now, I activate Polymerization! I fuse Fluffal Penguin and Edge Imp Chain from my hand to summon Frightfur Daredevil!"

Frightfur Daredevil LV8 (ATK 3000/DEF 2200)

A towering, stitched-together demon with blazing red eyes and sharp claws materialized on Sora's field, radiating pure menace.

"Frightfur Daredevil has 3000 ATK, and he's here to take your dragon down! But I'm not stopping there. I activate Frightfur Fusion! By banishing Edge Imp Chain and Fluffal Owl from my Graveyard, I summon Frightfur Kraken!"

Frightfur Kraken LV8 (ATK 2200/DEF 2000)

The sharp-clawed monstrosity made its way to the field, snapping and growling as its ATK climbed to 2400.

Frightfur Kraken LV8 (ATK 2400/DEF 2000)

"And thanks to Sabre-Tooth's effect, my Frightfur Daredevil gains 400 ATK, boosting it to 3400!"

Frightfur Daredevil LV8 (ATK 3400/DEF 2200)

Kai gritted his teeth as Sora pointed at his fusion dragon. "Daredevil, attack Light and Darkness Dragonlord!"

The demon lunged forward, its claws slashing through Kai's powerful dragon. The explosion lit up the battlefield, but Kai smirked as the dust cleared.

"You're not the only one with tricks, Sora! When you destroyed Light and Darkness Dragonlord, its effect activated! I can special summon a dragon monster right back to the field. Come back Red-Eyes Black dragon in defence mode!"

The radiant and shadowy dragon reappeared on Kai's field, its power as imposing as ever.

Sora narrowed his eyes. "You're persistent, I'll give you that. But I'm not done. Frightfur Daredevil's effect activates! When it's destroyed, I can inflict 1000 points of damage to you since I have two monsters on the field!"

Kai LP:3000

Kai winced as a shockwave of energy struck him, his Life Points dropping.

Sora grinned, his confidence unwavering. "This party still ain't over yet. Since my Frightfur Daredevil destroyed your monster, you take another 1000 points of dmg!"

Kai LP: 2000

"Next, Sabre-Tooth attacks your Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

The stitched beast pounced, slamming into Kai's dragon. Though it held firm, It wasn't enough.

"I switch Frightfur Kraken to defense mode and end my turn," Sora said, crossing his arms. His field now held Frightfur Sabre-Tooth and the defensive Frightfur Kraken, a formidable setup.

"Your move, Kai. Let's see if you can handle this," Sora said, his smirk cutting through the tense silence.

I wasn't in a good position. No monsters, no face-down cards, and my hand wasn't promising either. The odds were stacked against me, and Sora knew it. If I didn't draw something incredible, this duel was over.

But giving up wasn't an option.

I closed my eyes for a moment, and the memories came rushing back. I could see it so vividly—Sora, Yuya, Yoko, and I, all gathered around the table, the room filled with laughter and warmth. Yuya and I yelling at Sora as he shamelessly stole food off our plates, his grin wide and unapologetic. Yoko, sitting back with a fond smile, laughing softly as the chaos unfolded. It was the kind of happiness that didn't need words.

I thought of Yoko's smile—the way it always seemed to reassure us, as if she found peace in knowing we were safe and happy. It was as though, in that smile, she was silently vowing to protect us, no matter what. It was the kind of comfort only a mother could give. Over the weeks we spent together, she had unknowingly slipped into that role for both Sora and me. In so many ways, she had become the figure we didn't know we needed—our protector, our quiet strength that we to want to protect. I couldn't let that slip away, not for me and especially not for Sora. They made the darkness, Duel academy created in our hearts, fade away.

Sora was part of that family, whether he wanted to admit it or not. And I made a vow—to bring him back, no matter what it took.

I gripped the edge of my Duel Disk tightly, determination flooding my chest. "I'm not losing to you, Sora. Not here. Not ever."

I drew my next card. It was all or nothing now.

"I DRAW!"

Turn 7

Sora

LP:2400

Hand: 6

Kai

LP:4000

Hand: 1

I looked at my hand and smirked. A vision of a monster that could only be described as the perfect combination of a magician and a dragon appeared in my eyes. 'Seems you want to help me that badly huh old friend' I thought as I looked at the card. Sora looked and shifted uncomfortable seeing the change in my eyes.

"The card I just drew was Red-Eyes Fusion and I'm going to activate it right now!" I shouted. "I combine Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Dark Magician from my deck in order to fusion summoned." I clapped my hands together as the fusion wheel appeared, signalling the monsters entrance. "Feel the power of the darkness rising, as the shadows themselves bend to my will! From the depths of the forbidden, the flames of destruction shall consume all in their path! With every fiery breath, every crushing strike, we stand as one—unstoppable, unyielding! Prepare yourself for the might of a dragon, bound by the darkest forces! Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon."

Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon LV8 (ATK 3000/DEF 2500)

The monster in all its glory appeared down like a dark angel. Its power raiding off it in waves.

"Your defence means nothing in front of this creature. I activate Dark Dragoons effect to send your Frightfur Kraken to the graveyard. That will be 2200 points of damage for you!"

Sora LP: 200

"And now to end this. Dark Dragoon attack his Frightfur Sabre-tooth!"

Sora LP: 0

Sora was sent flying, and he crashed hard on the floor. He looked up to the sky. "I lost." I was about to go over to him when an unknown voice appeared.

"You sure did, you fusion scum." Our heads jolted towards the door as our eyes widened. It was Yuma Tsukumo. The man didn't even acknowledge me as he walked straight past me. I could only watch in silence as my body once again stiffened. Why! Why do I keep freezing up in front of this guy. It's almost like my body is stopping me from crossing paths with him.

Yuma stopped in front of Sora, who didn't even bother standing up. He looked directly at Sora, eyes sharp like steel. "How does it feel?" Yuma's voice was rusty, as if he had been asking the question outload over and over again. Sora looked at him confused. "How does it feel to be in the same position as my bredren you and your kind hunted?"

"Huh? You comparing me to trash like those? Don't make me laugh." Sora responded insolently

"Are those your final words?" Yuma's voice was cold, almost mocking.

Sora didn't answer. He just stood there, his gaze locked with Yuma's, defiantly silent.

"Very well." Yuma's hand moved swiftly to his duel disk, preparing for the final blow.

"No!" I shouted, my voice breaking as I rushed forward, desperate, my heart pounding in my chest.

But it was already too late. A blinding purple light erupted between them, and in an instant, Sora was gone. Just like that. Without a trace.

I stumbled to a stop, my legs giving out beneath me. My body hit the ground with a dull thud, but the pain I felt inside was far worse. My chest ached, a hollow emptiness consuming me.

Tears blurred my vision as I sank to my knees. The hope I'd carried—the dream of bringing Sora back, of fixing everything—shattered like glass, each fragment piercing deeper into my heart.

I couldn't save him. I couldn't protect him.

And the worst part? I didn't know if I could forgive myself for it.

"SORA!" I screamed, my voice raw and desperate. The tears came in torrents, flooding my face, unstoppable, like a waterfall crashing over me. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I couldn't keep the pain locked away.

"You—!" My voice cracked as I choked on the words, my fury boiling over. "I'll kill you! I'll fucking kill you, you bastard!"

Every part of me screamed for revenge, for justice, for something—anything to bring Sora back. But deep down, I knew it wouldn't bring him back. Nothing would. And yet, in that moment, all I could feel was the blinding, suffocating rage coursing through my veins.

But everything came to a sudden halt when I saw his face—shock. Pure disbelief.

"Where did he go?" he whispered, his voice trembling as if the question alone could make sense of the chaos.

I looked around, panic tightening in my chest. Then it hit me—there was no card, no sign of his transformation. No evidence that he had been turned into something else. The weight of it crashed over me, slowly, painfully.

I froze, the realization dawning on me with a sickening clarity.

"He went back to Duel Academy…" The words left my mouth in a whisper, but they felt like a heavy weight pressing down on my chest.

Duel Academy

Sora's eyes scanned the room, his heart sinking as he recognized the surroundings. He wasn't surprised, but that didn't make the realization any less chilling. This was the place—the one he had once walked through countless times, the place that had become both his prison and his refuge.

His gaze landed on the man seated on the throne. The professor. The one who had always been there, looming over everything. Sora didn't hesitate; he bowed his head, instinctively acknowledging the authority before him.

"Professor," Sora said, his voice calm, though there was an edge to it—a mixture of respect and something more.

The man on the throne didn't move, but his voice resonated through the room, low and menacing. "Sora," he replied, the tone as dark and imposing as his figure. "We've been monitoring your situation closely. It became clear that you were in need of assistance, so we decided to bring you back. I assume you have much to report?"

Sora smirked, the corner of his mouth twitching with a sense of certainty. "You bet I do."

The professor gave a slight nod, acknowledging Sora's confidence, before turning his attention to a massive screen that loomed behind him. As the image focused, Sora's eyes narrowed. On the screen stood Yusho, his greatest adversary, engaged in a duel. Something was off, though—Yusho looked like he was struggling, and that was something Sora never expected to see.

The professor's lips curled into a twisted grin. "I expected nothing less," he said, almost to himself, his voice dripping with malice. "After all, he is one of my top students... One of my Ten Shadows."

Sora's eyes didn't leave the screen, even as the professor continued speaking. He watched as a towering golden creature appeared on Yusho's opponents side—radiating an immense power that could be felt even through the screen. It stood tall, regal, almost ethereal, and its presence was overwhelming.

Sora had seen it once before, and even now, it was just as awe-inspiring as the first time. The sheer power emanating from the creature was both beautiful and terrifying, and for a moment, Sora found himself captivated by it once again. But then, he shook himself out of the trance, reminding himself of the task at hand.

The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate.

Authors note: Man that was so fun to write. Hope you enjoyed this emotional ride of a chapter. Sora has gone back to the fusion dimension but it doesn't seem like its over yet. Will he get revenge? Also we see Yusho Sakaki and the professor's first appearance but whos Yusho's opponent? And whats he doing with an Exodia deck? Seems like we got another small reveal of Duel Academies powerhouses. Wonder how strong they are. Guess we will find out on the next chapter.

If you love exodia and want to see more of it, put this fanfict in your collections and review it. Cya!
