Chapter 43: TST [43]
"Look! Viviana Sweetheart is crying!"
"Boohoo, when my Sweetheart cries, my heart aches too!"
"That girl's a witch… she bullied Viviana Sweetheart into tears! Brothers, let's go challenge her together!"
"Yeah! Avenge Viviana Sweetheart!"
The moment Viviana's teary face appeared, the crowd erupted, shouting about dueling Morgan in revenge. Some even called her a necromantic witch for using Zombie monsters.
Yet, not a single one dared to actually go up.
They shouted bravely, but their bodies were honest.
In the audience, Jade found herself deeply empathizing with Viviana. After all, she, too, had once been bullied to tears by Morgan's Underworld Deck.
Attacks rendered null, chains broken, Life Points shredded… that sense of helplessness.
She remembered it vividly.
Now, on the Duel Field, Morgan stared at the sobbing and trembling Viviana, completely at a loss. Why was she crying?
Viviana was a Silver-rank Duelist at least. Even if she was at a disadvantage, crying seemed out of character, right?
'Now that she's crying, should I attack or not?'
'Should I still go ahead with the next moves?'
Morgan was torn.
Viviana kept wiping her tears with her wrist, but it was like her tear ducts had burst… they just wouldn't stop.
Truth be told, she had never felt this powerless before.
She'd faced strong Duelists in the past, but those duels were always back-and-forth, exhilarating, and fun.
But against Morgan, she just felt small, helpless, and pitiful.
It didn't feel like a duel… more like imprisonment.
Even so, Viviana had no intention of giving up. Though her eyes brimmed with tears, her gaze stayed resolute.
The road to becoming a pro Duelist was never easy. Without grit and courage, she wouldn't have made it this far.
Seeing Viviana's expression, Morgan understood. She stopped hesitating and issued her attack declaration.
"Battle! [Eldlich the Golden Lord], direct attack on the opponent!"
Eldlich's eyes gleamed red as he suddenly appeared before Viviana and drove a crushing blow into her abdomen.
Viviana let out a muffled groan. Though the hit was virtual, it felt all too real, and she instinctively felt pain.
And there were two such attacks!
After both Eldlichs finished attacking, Viviana's Life Points dropped by 5000, leaving her with just 3000 LP.
[Conquistador of the Golden Land] was in Defense Position, so it didn't attack.
The crowd went completely silent.
Seeing this, Viviana's rabid fans fell mute.
Those who had shouted about challenging Morgan were now dead quiet, replaced only by fear and silence.
After all, they had all been beaten by Viviana before—they knew how strong she was.
Yet now, Viviana was completely overwhelmed. What chance did they have?
Seeing the hush fall over the arena, Jade nodded in satisfaction. 'Now you see how amazing my Morgan is?'
"Go, Morgan Sweetheart! Finish her off!"
"..."
It was embarrassing enough hearing Jade's words mixed in the crowd—but now they echoed through the quiet hall.
Morgan wanted to bury herself in a hole.
"Activate the effects of the three [Eldlixir] cards in my Graveyard!
I banish all three to Set three [Golden Land] Spell or Trap Cards from my Deck!"
Morgan pulled out three [Golden Land] Trap Cards from her Deck and, right in front of Viviana, placed them into her Spell/Trap Zone one by one.
With that, she now had a full back row of five cards!
"I end my turn!"
Seeing this, Viviana bit her lip, frowned, and wiped the tear streaks from her face with the back of her hand, forcing a faint smile.
"Don't underestimate me. Until someone's Life Points hit zero, the duel isn't over!"
"My turn—draw!"
Seeing Viviana's determination, guilt appeared on the spectators' faces.
Despite the overwhelming disadvantage, Viviana hadn't given up!
Tears welled up!
If she was still fighting, how could they just give up?
The crowd erupted again with cheers!
"Go, Viviana Sweetheart! Defeat that witch!"
"I'll always support you! Waaaah..."
"At this moment, Viviana Sweetheart is my spiritual anchor. I'll forever be her one true fan!"
"That witch will fall before Viviana Sweetheart's skirt!"
'Who are you calling a witch?!'
Morgan stared blankly at the sardine-packed audience, exasperated.
Still, she kind of understood. To Viviana's die-hard fans, Morgan suppressing her like this made her the villain.
And who wouldn't want to see their idol defeat evil and walk into the light?
Just then, Viviana looked at her draw and lit up with joy.
She had drawn the card that could turn the duel around!
