Chapter 11: CHAPTER 11:MARCID

"Let go of her," Sunghoon said firmly, his voice steady despite the tension in the air. Jake glared at him, his grip on Eunha's wrist tightening, but Sunghoon didn't back down.

"And who are you to tell me what to do?" Jake retorted, his voice harsh and threatening. Eunha stood frozen between the two men, her heart pounding so hard that she felt like it was in her throat.

"I'm not just anyone," Sunghoon said, his eyes locked on Jake's. "I'm someone who cares about Eunha, just like you do. And I don't like seeing you treat her like this. Now let go of her wrist."

Jake's grip tightened even further, and Eunha let out a small gasp of pain. She tried to pull away from him, but his grip was too strong. "You don't know a damn thing about it," Jake growled, his eyes blazing with anger. "She's mine, not yours."

Jake's eyes flicked down to Sunghoon's bruised lip, and a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Are those bruises still tender, Sunghoon?" he asked mockingly. "You should be careful, you don't want any more fresh ones, do you?"

Sunghoon looked back at Jake, his expression cool and unbothered. "You talk about bruises, but you're the one who ended up with a few on your face yourself last week."

Eunha's eyes widened as the realization suddenly sunk in. The cut on Sunghoon's lip...it was from his fight with Jake. Her heart skipped a beat at the revelation, a mixture of guilt and shock washing over her.

Eunha looked at Sunghoon, realization dawning on her. The person he had fought to defend...it was her. Sunghoon's expression, though still calm on the surface, betrayed a flicker of protectiveness and concern.

Jake had had enough of this confrontation. He tightened his grip on Eunha's wrist even more, his face twisted in anger. "I've warned you before, Eunha," he growled, "not to spend time with him. Now let's go."

He tugged hard on her wrist, causing Eunha to stumble forward. Sunghoon grabbed her arm to steady her, but Jake was determined to drag her away.

"Let go of her," Sunghoon repeated through clenched teeth, but Jake just glared back at him. "Mind your own business."

Sunghoon refused to back down, standing tall and blocking Jake's path, while Jake continued to try to pull Eunha away from him.

Eunha, realizing that this situation was getting out of hand, finally spoke up. "Stop it!" she cried, trying to wrench her wrist free from Jake's grip.

Both Sunghoon and Jake turned their attention to her, surprised by her sudden outburst. Jake reluctantly loosened his grip on her wrist, but his face was still set in a scowl.

Eunha looked around, realizing that they had drawn the attention of several curious onlookers in the cafe. Embarrassment and desperation filled her as she realized the scene they were causing.

"Stop it," she repeated, her voice firm but quiet. "I don't want to cause a scene in front of everyone."

Jake looked around, noticing the stares from the other customers as well. Reluctantly, he released his grip on Eunha's wrist, though his eyes still remained fixated on Sunghoon with a threatening glare.

Jake leaned in close to Eunha, and his voice lowered to a threatening whisper. "You don't want your father to find out about this, do you?" he hissed.

The implied threat weighed heavily in the air, effectively hushing her protests. Eunha knew that her father, a wealthy and influential man, would not take kindly to any scandal or disruption to their family's reputation.

Eunha turned to Sunghoon, her eyes expressing a mix of regret and helplessness. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of resignation. "I have to go with Jake."

Sunghoon's face hardened, disappointment evident in his expression. He didn't push or argue, as he probably understood the complexities of Eunha's situation better than anyone. "Fine," he said curtly, releasing his grip on her arm.

Eunha nodded silently, then turned and walked out of the cafe, Jake following closely behind with a smug, satisfied look on his face.

As they exited the cafe, Eunha could almost feel Sunghoon's eyes on her back, watching as she left with Jake. She felt a twinge of guilt and regret, knowing that this situation was anything but simple.

Jake, on the other hand, seemed pleased with himself, his hand gripping Eunha's wrist again as they walked away from the cafe. Eunha glanced back over her shoulder one last time, catching a glimpse of Sunghoon's figure through the window - standing there, his expression unreadable.

As Eunha and Jake stepped outside, the sky overhead had grown progressively darker. The air was humid, and the clouds hung low and heavy, promising an impending rainfall. The sun had almost completely disappeared, leaving behind a hazy, grayish-yellow light.

The leaves of the trees swayed restlessly in the breeze, and the distant rumble of thunder could be heard rolling through the sky. It wasn't quite raining yet, but the atmosphere was thick with the anticipation of an impending storm.

Jake's voice cut through the tense air as they walked down the sidewalk to where his car was parks. "Didn't I warn you before, Eunha?" he asked, with a hint of irritation in his voice. "Didn't I tell you not to spend any time with him?"

Eunha didn't reply at first, looking down at the ground in front of her as they walked. Jake's grip on her wrist was tight, a reminder of his possessiveness and control over her.

Just as they were walking away, a familiar voice called out from behind them. "Eunha!" Sunghoon's voice cut through the air, causing Eunha to freeze in her tracks.

Jake turned around, his face set in an irritated expression, as he spotted Sunghoon approaching them. He didn't let go of Eunha's wrist though.

"What do you want now?" Jake demanded, his voice sharp and aggressive. Sunghoon didn't back down, though his gaze was fixed on Eunha instead of Jake.

Sunghoon looked directly at Eunha. "You didn't answer my question from earlier," he said firmly, his eyes locking with hers.

Jake scoffed, cutting in before Eunha could respond. "She doesn't have to answer you," he retorted, his grip on her wrist tightening.

Sunghoon's gaze flicked to Jake's hand on Eunha's wrist, and his jaw tightened. He knew he was walking onto thin ice here, but he didn't back down.

"You're hurting her," he said quietly, his voice steady. "Let go of her wrist."

Jake laughed coldly and tightened his grip even more. "And who are you to tell me what to do with my fiance?" he taunted, pulling Eunha closer to his side.

Sunghoon's eyes narrowed. "I'm someone who cares about her well-being," he shot back, struggling to keep his own emotions in check. "This isn't how you treat someone you love."

Jake sneered. "Love? This isn't about love," he said with a bitter laugh. "This is about business and appearances." He pulled at Eunha's wrist, causing her to wince in pain.

Sunghoon took a step forward, his expression hardening. "She's not an object you can just control and manipulate," he said, his voice now tinged with anger.

Jake's grip loosened slightly. "Oh, really?" he retorted, a mocking tone to his voice. "And what makes you think you know anything about how to handle her better than I do?"

In a swift and unexpected motion, Jake let go of Eunha's wrist and instead grabbed Sunghoon's collar, gripping it tightly.

Sunghoon's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't back down. Jake's face was up close to his now, a twisted smirk on his face.

"You have some nerve trying to act tough with me," Jake hissed, his grip on Sunghoon's collar tightening. "She's my fiance, not yours. Know your place."

Sunghoon's jaw clenched, but he didn't back down. "Eunha isn't an object to be owned or controlled," he shot back, his voice firm. "She has her own thoughts, feelings, and choices."

"You're just some no-name nobody," Jake retorted. "You're nothing compared to me. She belongs with me. And if you know what's good for you, you'll stay out of our way."

Sunghoon fought to keep his emotions in check, but the more Jake talked, the harder it became. "She belongs with you, huh?" he said, his voice tinged with bitterness. "Do you even know her at all? You see her as a possession, not as a person."

Jake's grip on Sunghoon's collar tightened further with every word. "Oh, and you do?" he retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You think you know her better than I do? You're just some naive kid who thinks he can sweep in and steal her away."

"That's where you're wrong," Sunghoon shot back, his gaze unwavering. "I do know her better than you do. The real her, not just the version you try to manipulate."

Jake sneered, pulling Sunghoon closer. "The real her?" he echoed mockingly. "You think you understand her? You're just a lovesick puppy who's deluded himself into thinking you have a chance."

Sunghoon didn't back down, his eyes locked with Jake's. "Lovesick puppy or not, at least I see her as a person, not a trophy to be won and controlled."

Jake laughed coldly. "Control? That's what it takes to keep a relationship steady. You're just naive, thinking love is some fairytale where everything goes according to your whims."

Tears welled up in Eunha's eyes as she listened to the heated exchange between Jake and Sunghoon. She felt a mix of fear, anger, and longing, torn between the two of them and unsure of what to do.

Eunha called out, her voice small but clear, "Stop, both of you!"

But her words fell on deaf ears as Sunghoon and Jake continued their heated argument, neither of them hearing her plea.

She raised her voice a little louder, "Stop it, please!"

But the heated exchange continued, with the two men too caught up in their disagreement to pay attention to Eunha's desperate pleas.

"Please, just listen to me!" Eunha finally yelled, her voice cracking with emotion.

This time, Sunghoon and Jake finally stopped and turned to look at Eunha, as if just now remembering she was there.

Eunha wiped away the tears streaming down her face, and with a shaky voice, she replied, "Yes, I want to break free from this engagement."

She swallowed hard, her gaze flicking between Sunghoon and Jake, both of them frozen in place, their argument forgotten for the moment.

Jake's grip on Sunghoon's collar loosened, his eyes widening in surprise at Eunha's confession. Sunghoon, meanwhile, looked both relieved and slightly shocked, his gaze locked on Eunha.

Jake, still stunned by Eunha's confession, reacted with anger and possessiveness. In a swift movement, he released Sunghoon's collar and threw a punch straight at his face.

Sunghoon stumbled back, the force of the punch catching him off guard. He steadied himself, touched a hand to his reddening cheek, and looked up at Jake, his expression a mix of pain and defiance.

Sunghoon's initial shock faded, replaced by a surge of anger and determination. Without hesitation, he clenched his fist and swung it back at Jake, aiming for his jaw.

Jake took the punch, his head snapping to the side from the impact. He stumbled back, his eyes narrowing, but this only seemed to fuel Sunghoon's anger even more.

"Stop!" Eunha cried out again, her voice pleading.

Just as the rain started, a torrential downpour abruptly started, dampening the ground and soaking everyone in mere moments. The rain added a new element to the chaos unfolding between Eunha, Sunghoon, and Jake.

Despite Eunha's pleas for them to stop, neither Sunghoon nor Jake listened. The rain pouring down on them only seemed to intensify the situation, their voices raised louder as they continued their argument.

As Jake and Sunghoon continued their heated exchange, they moved closer to the road. In the midst of their struggle, Jake's grip slipped, and Sunghoon lost his balance and stumbled back into the roadway. As he did, a vehicle was approaching, the driver honking loudly as it neared the arguing pair.

Eunha's heart skipped a beat as she watched the unfolding scene. Sunghoon was unaware of the danger as he stumbled back into the road, while the approaching vehicle honked loudly, heading straight towards him.

"Sunghoon!" Eunha screamed, her voice full of fear, but it was drowned out by the sound of rain and the honking vehicle.

The vehicle struck Sunghoon with a sickening thud. Eunha watched in horror as he was tossed to the side like a ragdoll, his body limp and lifeless on

The vehicle continued to speed off, leaving a trail of taillights and the pouring rain behind. Eunha stood frozen in shock, her mind struggling to process what had just happened. Time seemed to slow down, the only sounds being the pattering of rain and her heart racing in her chest.

The streetlights created a surreal glow as raindrops mixed with the tears streaming down Eunha's face. She felt numb, her mind replaying the gruesome scene over and over again, like a twisted film that wouldn't stop.

As reality slowly set in, the weight of the situation crashed down on Eunha. She took a step towards where Sunghoon had been hit, but everything felt unreal. It was as if she was in a nightmare that she couldn't wake up from.

Finally, she found the strength to move, stumbling towards where Sunghoon lay motionless on the ground. She fell to her knees beside him, the rain falling on her face and blurring her vision even more.

"Sunghoon," she whispered hoarsely, her voice trembling. "Please, wake up."

She reached out, shaking him gently, but there was no response.

Her hands were trembling as she touched his cheek, feeling the coldness of his skin against her wet fingers. The rain continued to pour, mixing with her tears that were now flowing faster.

"Somebody, call an ambulance!" Eunha yelled, her voice ragged and desperate.

She didn't know if anyone had heard her, but she couldn't process anything else. She just needed help for Sunghoon, and fast.

The streetlights created a surreal glow as raindrops mixed with the tears streaming down Eunha's face. She felt numb, her mind replaying the gruesome scene over and over again, like a twisted film that wouldn't stop.

Jake, who had been standing a few meters away, frozen in shock, seemed to snap out of his stupor as Eunha yelled for an ambulance. He fumbled for his phone, glancing at Eunha and the unmoving figure on the ground before swiftly calling emergency services.

His face paled as he spoke urgently into the phone, providing their location and explaining the situation. Eunha watched him through blurred vision, her mind a whirlwind of grief and fear, not trusting Jake in the slightest.

Once Jake finished the call, he slowly approached Eunha and the unconscious Sunghoon. He looked pale, his eyes fixed on the motionless form in front of them.

"The ambulance is coming," he said quietly, his voice barely audible over the sound of the pouring rain. There was a hint of remorse in his tone, but Eunha ignored him, her focus entirely on Sunghoon.

She held his limp hand tightly, her thumb tracing circles across his knuckles, hoping for a response, even a small sign of life.
