Chapter 161: The Forbidden Seat
Hong Lei's face had turned pale, and he immediately shouted, "Everyone, evacuate the fortress at once!"
With that, Hong Lei quickly approached the door, performed an electronic scan, and after verifying his identity, the immensely heavy sealed stone door suddenly opened. He dashed out in a swift stride.
Boom~
In that instant, a loud explosion occurred, and a shockwave surged through the fortress. Instantly, agonizing screams filled the air, akin to the wailing of ghosts and wolves. Even Hong Lei, who managed to escape outside, was swept off his feet by the shockwave and was slammed hard onto the ground. He groaned, spitting a mouthful of blood.
Hong Lei couldn't spare a moment to check his injuries. He dashed back into the destroyed fortress, only to find that many of the other staff were already in a gruesome state, with flesh and blood mangled. Even a few survivors were missing limbs, struggling and howling on the ground, presenting a grisly scene.
"How could this be?" Seeing this sight, Hong Lei was completely bewildered. In all his years as a hacker, he had never encountered such a situation. Just by exploiting a single identity, the opponent was able to cause the entire fortress system to collapseāunbelievable.
The explosion also alarmed the others in the Seven-Star Tower, and soon a group arrived at the scene. Someone asked, "Hong Lei, what happened?"
"Don't ask so much! Get the survivors out for treatment!" After saying this, Hong Lei continued, "Do you know where the Tower Master is?"
"He should be in the main hall!" the person replied. Hong Lei then left the fortress in a flash, his mind racing with thoughts about how to explain to the Tower Master. After all, the core fortress was crucial for information transmission at the Seven-Star Tower, and rebuilding it would be tremendously costly.
Before long, Hong Lei arrived at the main hall of the Seven-Star Tower and saw Duan Xingnan in a meeting with all the senior figures of the tower seated below.
"Tower Master!" Hong Lei approached Duan Xingnan and spoke.
"Have you identified the perpetrator?" Duan Xingnan asked.
"No," Hong Lei shook his head. Duan Xingnan's brows furrowed slightly. Seeing Hong Lei's tattered clothing, he seemed to realize something, and asked coldly, "What on earth happened, speak quickly!"
"Tower Master, I'm sorry. The core... the core fortress is destroyed, and all systems have turned to ashes!" Hong Lei stammered, face pale, fearing punishment from Duan Xingnan.
Whoosh~
Upon hearing this, a cold and indifferent aura emanated from Duan Xingnan, enveloping Hong Lei instantly. "What did you say? The core fortress, destroyed, how did this happen?"
At that moment, Duan Xingnan recalled the words from Shangguan Biyue. It was one thing that the Savior on Shangguan Biyue's side was destroyed, but this was the headquarters, where the storage capacity of the core fortress was several times that of the Savior.
"Spare me, Tower Master!" Hong Lei's knees went weak, and he knelt down beside Duan Xingnan.
The crowd in the hall was utterly dumbfounded, staring blankly at everything that was unfolding. They were well aware of the core fortress's significance to the Seven-Star Tower, and its destruction was indeed a heavy loss.
"Get up!" Duan Xingnan barked angrily, and Hong Lei stood up, trembling. Duan Xingnan asked again, "What exactly happened?"
"Tower Master, soon after you left, the system was breached by the opponent. For reasons unknown, in a matter of moments, all the devices in the core fortress were overwhelmed. The system couldn't handle it, reaching its limits in under seven seconds, and then everything was destroyed!"
Under seven seconds?
On Shangguan Biyue's side, it was under five seconds, and here under seven seconds. How is this possible?
The headquarters' devices are far more advanced than those on Shangguan Biyue's side. Could they collapse in just under seven seconds, and even explode?
If not for Hong Lei's disheveled clothing reminding Duan Xingnan, he would find it hard to believe all of this was real. What kind of massive information could cause his core fortress's information department to crash instantly and explode?
Duan Xingnan's face was indecipherable.
Seeing this, Hong Lei whispered, "Tower Master, this person might not be ordinary, likely someone untouchable!"
Hong Lei had no knowledge of Xiao Tianyu's identity. In the Seven-Star Tower, only Shangguan Biyue and Duan Xingnan knew that Xiao Tianyu was the mysterious Fortress Master of the Twelve Flying Peng Castles.
Hearing this, a trace of murderous intent spread across Duan Xingnan's face. "Someone untouchable, just an identity information. Is there anyone in the world too much for me to handle?"
With that, Duan Xingnan continued, "Get out, I have my ways!"
As he finished speaking, Duan Xingnan's expression turned icy. He was determined to find out what other mysterious identities Xiao Tianyu might hold besides being the Fortress Master. Unless this obstacle was removed, he would never realize his grand vision.
...
On the street, Xiao Tianyu continued to stroll, seemingly indifferent to someone stealing his identity information.
But it was no surprise; he was using futuristic technology from five thousand years ahead, so he naturally wouldn't care about others pirating his information resources. Instead, it was the opponent who would have to bear the consequences of the theft.
At the peak, one always feels alone, and it was not difficult to see this from Xiao Tianyu. In Huaxia, there was nothing left that intrigued him, as if everything in Huaxia lay beneath his feet.
Working at Qingcheng International was merely to pass the time since he was bored; however, he hadn't forgotten his vendetta. Everything from once upon a time was deeply embedded in his mind, and sooner or later, he planned to settle the score.
It could also be said that everything on the Ancient Martial Realm was under his control, and he didn't mind letting them hop around for a few more days.
By around noon, Xiao Tianyu unconsciously strolled to the entrance of a restaurant and, as he passed the hotel, his stomach suddenly growled~ He looked up at the restaurant and then stepped inside.
The restaurant was ordinarily decorated but very clean, with many patrons, almost full to capacity. Xiao Tianyu was somewhat perplexed. This restaurant wasn't on a bustling street, yet business was thriving. There were only two reasons: either the service was excellent or the cuisine was special.
Moreover, there were luxury sports cars parked in the outdoor parking lot, which was unusual for a non-star-rated restaurant. To attract so many people of status, the first reason could be eliminated, leaving only the second: the dishes were superb and the flavors exceptional.
Upon entering the restaurant, Xiao Tianyu's clear gaze swept across the hall and found every table occupied, almost no seats available. However, there was a table with the best view that was vacant.
Without a second thought, and not finding anything strange, Xiao Tianyu walked over and sat down.
As he did so, he suddenly noticed that everyone at the surrounding tables was looking at him with odd expressions.
"Where's this fool from? Daring to sit in that seat, truly doesn't know what's good for him!"
"Indeed, just a few days ago, someone dared to sit there, and the result... well, there was no result..."
"Looks like this guy isn't from around here!" Another person sighed, "To dare sit in that seat, must be a newcomer, otherwise wouldn't they know it's perpetually reserved?"
