Young Master Has a Daughter

Chapter 187 – Beloved Daughter

When night fell, Yun Ling gathered the children to instruct them once again on what they should do in the Great Buddhist Monastery after he leaves to the Law God Sect. Though he had already told them what to do in the carriage when they were on their way to the monastery, Yun Ling felt it wasn't enough so he told them once again plus some more things he forgot to tell them.

When all said was done, they had dinner and then the children exchanged fun stories with each other.

While the children were talking to each other, Yun Ling called out Yun Feng, and together, they both went outside the room with Yun Ling leading the way.

"What is it, Big Bro?" Yun Feng asked.

"I already told you this but I'm going to say it to you again. Look after the children and Yue Dongmei well," Yun Ling said. "I'll leave them in your hands."

"I know, Big Bro. I won't let anything happen to them. I already gave you my word," Yun Feng said seriously. Ever since he had decided to agree to the mission that Yun Ling gave him, he was going to do his best watching over Yun Xia, Yue Dongmei, and the rest of the children.

Yun Ling smiled at that.

"Good... you're the only one I can trust with this," Yun Ling said pleasantly. Then, his face turned serious as he added, "You have to be careful of some of the monks here. They might be monks but they are good for nothing. I suspect that some of them might cause you a trouble or two."

"What do you mean?"

"You'll know in the future," Yun Ling said.

"Papa?" the two heard a cute adorable voice coming from the room which was just behind them.

Yun Ling and Yun Feng looked behind and saw Yun Xia who had an anxious look on her face as she set her gaze on Yun Ling. It seemed like she had something she wanted to say to him but was hesitating.

"I'm heading back inside, Big Bro," Yun Feng said upon noticing the look on his niece's face. He decided it was much better to go inside and leave the two alone for a while.

Yun Ling nodded at him. If Yun Feng didn't say that, he would've told Yun Feng to go inside so he could speak alone with his daughter.

Taking Yun Ling's nod as a cue, Yun Feng walked towards the room as he gave Yun Xia a smile when he got close to her.

"Thank you, Uncle."

Yun Feng raised a brow at her. His niece might still be a kid but she was more perceptive than he thought. It would seem that some of Yun Ling's genius had been passed down to her.

"No problem," Yun Feng said before he got inside the room.

When Yun Feng was finally gone, Yun Xia slowly walked towards Yun Ling unsurely.

Yun Ling smiled at her as he asked, "What is it, Xiaxia?"

"Papa is leaving tomorrow right?" Yun Xia asked.

"I am... why?" Yun Ling asked, wondering why his daughter asked him that. He had already told her and the other children repeatedly that they were going to stay in the monastery for a while because he was going to the Law God Sect along with Tathagata and the others tomorrow.

"Yun Xia just..." Yun Xia started but then paused as she bit her lips.

"Xiaxia?"

Yun Ling was starting to get concerned for his daughter. Never had he seen her act like that before. Honestly, seeing his daughter like that felt just so wrong to him. He would rather see her with a smile always on her face.

"Are... are you okay?" he asked.

Yun Xia nodded, indicating that she was okay. Then, she gathered her courage as she said, "Since Papa is leaving tomorrow, Yun Xia just wants to spend more time with Papa right now..."

His eyes widened upon hearing that. He looked at her daughter's face and in her eyes, he saw some tears that were threatening to escape yet instead of crying like other children normally would, she held on.

Yun Ling felt his heart ache.

Honestly, Yun Xia was such a wonderful and understanding child. Sometimes, he couldn't help but ask how a piece of shit like him got such a wonderful daughter. Children around Yun Xia's age were quite immature and were hard to handle but Yun Xia... never had Yun Ling felt that Yun Xia was difficult.

If it were any other children in her place right now, perhaps, they would've started crying and throwing tantrums while telling their papa not to go.

His daughter on the other hand... she just understood and instead of telling him to stay, she just wanted to spend more time with him while he still hadn't left yet.

Yun Ling bit his lips as a lone tear escaped from his right eye.

"Papa, are you okay?" Yun Xia asked worriedly when she saw the tear in Yun Ling's eyes.

Instead of answering her, Yun Ling looked her in the eye as he asked, "Xiaxia, do you want Papa not to go?"

She was surprised for a moment when Yun Ling asked her that but she quickly nodded her head as she answered, "I do!"

"Then, why are you not telling Papa not to go?"

"I want to. But..." she paused as a look of hesitation appeared on her face.

"It's okay, Xiaxia. Tell me," Yun Ling said as he gave her the most gentle smile he had ever made in his life, a smile reserved for his daughter only.

Yun Xia's mouth opened a bit when she saw that smile from her father.

Yun Xia was walking on the streets as she held the hand of her mother whose body was covered in a robe.

"Papa! Mama! I want that toy! Buy it for me please! Please!"

She looked towards a boy accompanied by both her mother and father as he pointed at a certain toy displayed in the window of a store nearby.

Though the boy was giving his parents a bit of a hard time, she couldn't help but notice the smile on his parents' faces as they looked at the boy.

"Mama, why don't I have a papa?" Yun Xia sadly asked.

"Xiaxia?" Yun Ling called out, breaking his daughter out of his thoughts.

"It's because I don't want Papa to hate me," Yun Xia said sadly.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I don't want to give Papa a hard time so Papa won't dislike me," Yun Xia said as she looked Yun Ling straight in the eye.

Despite the tough exterior that Yun Xia was showing to Yun Ling, Yun Ling noticed his daughter's body trembling a bit, showing just how nervous she actually was.

Yun Ling didn't like it. He didn't want his daughter to be that nervous in front of him no matter what. He wanted her to be comfortable around him.

"Silly girl," Yun Ling said with a smile. "There's no way Papa is going to hate you. Even if the world hates Xiaxia, Papa will always love you."

"Really?" Yun Xia asked with teary eyes.

"Really, really..." Yun Ling said as he grabbed his daughter and embraced her. "I love you, Xiaxia..."

Yun Xia closed her eyes as she smiled.

"I love you too, Papa..."
