Young hearts

Chapter 22: Twenty two

"You are not mad or anything?" I asked him even if the answer to that question was obvious because he was smiling right now and I felt like kissing those lips of his.

What are you saying, Julie?!!! I asked myself.

I have never kissed anyone, just like I have never dated anyone and here I was thinking of kissing Uche. Maybe I should have joined my classmates in my old school whenever they were playing spin the bottle game, maybe I would have had a kissing experience but no, I couldn't have, no way I was going to kiss any of those boys back at my former school.

Unlike here, the boys at my former school are generally proud of their perverseness. Here, in this town and in this school, the boys are all nice and calm, so far, that's what I think of them. Where I lived with my mum, in the city, I don't like the boys one bit, they made annoying comments about a girl whenever they passed by.

It annoyed me every single time because it didn't matter what you wore, whether you wore something bitchy and slutty or whether you wore something decent, they still made snide and perversive remarks but it was different here.

In this suburban town, the boys I've been in contact with were nicer, nicer and less perversive. They were like Uche, not all but at least some sensible boys were still around.

"No, I'm not." He chuckled.

"So, you understand?" I smiled.

"Well....yeah, been there myself. I still have your books."

"Oh yeahhh." He still had my math book and every thing I used in doing my homework yesterday. "Are you gonna give me lessons today?"

"If you want," He shrugged with his hands in his jean pocket. "Orrrr, we could just go look around, I can show you around here more, if you want?"

I was about to tell him that I was in on the idea but he spoke again.

"We can have lessons on days we have homework like yesterday?"

"Okay." I nodded excitedly, I was hoping to have him give me lessons so we had something to do together but thankfully he had other better ideas for us to spend time together. "Are we going to leave now?" I asked him because it looked like he was busy with his best friend (Nick) just now. Nick's laptop was on the dining table.

"I was actually.....you know what, I can just tell Nick that we should do this later, he will understand." He smiled again, if I was butter, I was sure I would melt frequently whenever I was around him, he was always smiling and I loved that smile.

"Here, I found it." We both heard Nick say as he came back downstairs. He(Nick) tossed a flashdrive towards where I stood and it went over my head and Uche caught it.

"Uhmm, maybe we can finish it up later?"

"Why? Let's just do it now, we are almost done." Nick replied him walking to us. I don't have a slight idea of what they are talking of or what they want to finish up but I didn't care, I was just happy to leave with Uche and we could be alone.

"I want to go out with Julie."

"What?!" Nick's reaction was a little scary, he seemed perplexed at what Uche just said.

"I uhmm," Uche looked at me while looking for words, which was surprising because he could just tell Nick we were going to take a stroll like yesterday."I want to show her around."

"Why?!" Nick was being a little over with his questions now."Why are you showing her around?"

"Because he wants to?" I told Nick and he turned to me.

"I'm not asking you, Julie." He told me before turning back to Uche. "Can we talk over here for a minute?" He told Uche and went to the other side of the dining table and Uche followed.

"What are you doing?" Nick asked first, he was talking in a whisper voice but I could still hear him, not just because he wasn't that far away but also because he was beginning to have a deep masculine voice that made it hard for his whisper to actually be a WHISPER and he seemed not to know that.

"What?" Uche asked back.

"This thing with Julie, this whole thing."

"I just want to show her around, relax."

"Why do you want to show her around, yesterday she went out with you without letting anyone know and today? You don't happen like her, do you?" Nick sounded like it was a horrible thing if Uche liked me. Uche didn't say anything."You know you can't like my sister right?" Uche still wasn't saying anything, he looked at me from where he stood with Nick.

Why couldn't he like me? Nick seemed to be reminding him of that right now. I sighed, I didn't want to listen to them anymore, I couldn't, it was getting annoying and I didn't want to get annoyed. I went back up to get my hair to look better, still happy to go out with Uche
