You Choose an Adopted Son, I Choose Madness

Chapter 38

Chapter 38: Teaching Su Lili a Lesson:

Ever since Su Chen returned to the Su family, he had been deliberately or unintentionally excluded from every family gathering involving outsiders. The reason was simple—the esteemed Su family members believed that Su Chen, who had grown up in an orphanage, would embarrass them at these events.

In the past, even though Su Chen was dissatisfied with this treatment, he endured it. He didn’t want the Su family to resent him. He longed for their acceptance, for the familial love he had always dreamed of. So, he silently complied and never once attended a Su family gathering.

But that was the old Su Chen.

The new Su Chen wouldn’t tolerate such humiliation.

Now, he had only one rule—whoever made his life difficult, he would make theirs even harder.

As he scanned the Su family members, who were exchanging awkward glances but avoiding his gaze, he sneered.

“Speak! Why aren’t you saying anything?!”

“Did you all forget about me again?!”

“Ahhhhh!”

“Say something!”

“Feeling guilty, aren’t you?!”

“That’s why none of you dare to speak?!”

Among them, Su Lili, who had not yet experienced Su Chen’s recent madness nor heard about his antics, was the first to lose her temper.

“Su Chen, what are you yelling about?! What’s your problem?!”

“You seriously don’t understand why we didn’t tell you about this event?”

“You grew up in an orphanage! What do you know about behaving properly at a business banquet?”

“If you make a mistake and offend someone important, bringing trouble to the Su Corporation, how will you take responsibility?!”

“Stop being so childish!”

“Tomorrow, just stay out of the way and find something else to do!”

Seeing Su Lili’s condescending expression, Su Chen’s eyes turned cold.

Su Lili, do you really think that just because you act like the eldest sister, I can’t deal with you?

You think I can’t teach you a lesson?

Perfect. I’ll settle both old and new grudges at once!

In the next instant, Su Chen’s eyes turned red, his body trembled, and his voice wavered as if he were utterly devastated.

“So, all of you look down on me?!”

“If you despise me so much, why did you even bring me back?!”

“Ahhhhhhh!”

“Why?! Why?!”

“I hate you all! I hate you all so much!”

“All of you should just die! Just die!”

Su Zhenxing, who had been watching silently, had originally intended to let his eldest daughter, Su Lili, put this troublemaking Su Chen in his place.

But the moment he heard those outrageous words from Su Chen, his fury erupted.

Just as he turned to scold Su Chen, ready to unleash his anger—

Su Chen, his body trembling and his eyes red, suddenly rolled his eyes back and collapsed from his chair onto the floor.

What?!

Did Su Chen just get so angry that he passed out?!

From what he had observed over the past few days, that didn’t seem right!

Even though he was suspicious, Su Zhenxing immediately stood up and walked toward Su Chen. He had to check the situation himself. If Su Chen had actually fainted, he needed to call a doctor right away.

However, just as he reached Su Chen and was about to examine him—

Su Chen suddenly sprang up in a powerful leap!

Caught off guard, Su Zhenxing stumbled backward, nearly falling over.

Instantly, his rage surged.

So that’s how it is!

He knew it!

There was no way Su Chen would be so easily angered to the point of fainting!

So, all this time, he was just putting on another act!

Stabilizing himself by leaning against the wall, Su Zhenxing glared at Su Chen and roared furiously.

“Su Chen, you unfilial son!”

“Still pretending to be crazy?!”

“With the way you act, you’d only disgrace the Su family if you attended the business banquet!”

Before he could continue his scolding—

Su Chen suddenly jumped again, turning his body to face him directly.

The moment Su Chen’s gaze met his, a strange chill ran through Su Zhenxing’s heart. His body trembled, his eyes widened in terror, and his face turned pale.

What he saw sent shivers down his spine.

Su Chen stood unnaturally rigid, his arms stretched straight forward, and his eyes were wide open. But—

His eyes had no pupils—only whites!

Then, Su Chen spoke.

But the voice that came out was not his own.

“Da Xingzi, it’s been decades since I last disciplined you, and look at you now, so useless!”

“Su Chen is my precious grandson! Why are you hitting and scolding him?!”

“Try it again, and even if I have to crawl out of the underworld, I’ll make sure you can’t get out of bed!”

Terror overtook Su Zhenxing’s face. He clutched the wall behind him for support, barely managing to keep himself upright.

That voice…

That was his mother’s voice!

Only his mother ever called him “Da Xingzi”!

But how could this be possible?!

His mother had died thirteen years ago, two years after Su Chen disappeared. She had passed away from grief!

What was happening?!

Was Su Chen pretending?!

But if he was faking it, how could he imitate his grandmother’s voice so perfectly? When Su Chen went missing, he was only two years old—there was no way he could remember her tone!

If this wasn’t an act…

Then… was it really his mother?!

Had his mother come back from the underworld to protect her grandson?!

Had she really come to punish him?!

Overwhelmed with fear, Su Zhenxing’s body lost all strength. His limbs went limp, and he slid down the wall, staring at Su Chen—no, at his mother—with terror-filled eyes.

“I won’t deal with you just yet!”

“This time, I’ve come for my good granddaughter, Lili!”

With that, Su Chen suddenly leaped again—this time, turning to face Su Lili directly.

His pupil-less, white eyes bore into Su Lili’s horrified gaze.

By now, the dining room had erupted into chaos.

Liu Yanan was utterly petrified.

She had feared her mother-in-law the most.

After Su Chen disappeared, the old woman had blamed her relentlessly, cursing her for being a mother who couldn’t even protect her own child. She had constantly told her to just die.

That period had been the most miserable time of Liu Yanan’s life.

Luckily, adopting Su Mu later had brought her some comfort.

Luckily, the old woman had passed away two years after Su Chen vanished.

From that moment on, Liu Yanan had finally felt relief. No one was there to scold her and tell her she wasn’t fit to be a mother anymore.

But now—

Thirteen years after the old woman’s death—

She had returned!

So, the dead really could come back?!

Liu Yanan never even considered the possibility that Su Chen was pretending.

That voice! That tone! It was exactly how her mother-in-law used to scold her husband!

Her legs gave out beneath her, and she collapsed to the ground, her face deathly pale, unable to move.

Su Mu and Su Qiqi, being younger, barely had any memories of their grandmother, so their fear wasn’t as strong.

They even suspected that Su Chen was putting on an act.

But Su Lili—

She had been old enough to remember.

And she knew—

That was her grandmother’s voice!

That was her grandmother!

Her grandmother had always favored grandsons over granddaughters.

And Su Lili had hated her for it.

But now—

She was too terrified to even think about that.

Her face filled with fear, her body trembling uncontrollably, Su Lili frantically tried to crawl under the table.

But before she could—

Su Chen leaped forward, grabbed Su Lili’s hair, and delivered several sharp slaps to her face.

His white, pupil-less eyes locked onto Su Lili’s terrified gaze.

“Su Lili, you’re such a good granddaughter to your grandmother and such a good daughter to your parents!”

“You watched your little brother being taken away without saying a word! I haven’t even settled that debt with you yet!”

“And now, you dare to bully my precious grandson again?!”

“Let’s see how I punish you today, you wretched child!”

With another series of harsh slaps, Su Chen continued disciplining Su Lili.
