Chapter 5: The Gateway to Darkness
After Xiao Yan's fiery power erupted, the world around him seemed to fall into silence. The wind ceased to blow, and the sky, once bright, suddenly darkened with dense black clouds. The air felt thick, filled with an unusual heat. The entire Yun Mountain region seemed to tremble from the explosion of energy Xiao Yan had unleashed. Not only that, but the gateway in front of them exuded light that was both blindingly bright and ominously dark at the same time.
Xiao Yan stood in the midst of the explosion, his body feeling weak from the immense sacrifice he had just made. The energy pouring from him not only harmed his physical form but also tore open the fabric between dimensions. As the gate to the Realm of the Abyss widened, something far greater and darker began to seep into this world. Creatures from another dimension, previously seen only in nightmares, began to step into the human world.
However, Xiao Yan could not feel victorious. His power had reached an unprecedented peak, but he knew that the consequences of his sacrifice would be dire. The flame he had unleashed to seal the gate had only amplified the incoming threat.
In the distance, dark figures began to appear. They were not human. Their massive, muscular bodies were cloaked in an unquenchable layer of black fire. Each of them had eyes that glowed with blood-red fire, signaling an infinite malice. They were the Abyssal Beasts, creatures from the Realm of the Abyss created to conquer and destroy the human world.
The first figure to emerge was a giant over twelve meters tall. Its face was a grotesque blend of human and beast, with sharp teeth visible from its mouth. Its body was coated in flowing black flame armor, and two enormous wings made of dark energy sprouted from its shoulders. In its right hand, it wielded a massive mace, clearly capable of destroying anything in its path.
Xiao Yan realized this was not an enemy he could easily defeat. Though the Flame King's power resided within him, he felt that the sacrifice he had made was still not enough to face the coming threat. Even the power he now wielded might not be sufficient to stand against them.
However, Xiao Yan could not retreat. He had opened the gate, and now he had to be responsible for closing it. The fire within him began to boil, surging through his body with immense force. He focused all the energy within him, attempting to summon even greater flames than before.
Xiao Yan's eyes blazed with a brilliant fire. His body radiated an aura so powerful it felt as if he could burn the entire world. "I will not back down," Xiao Yan said with unshakable determination. "I must stop them, or this world will be destroyed."
But as he stepped forward, he heard a voice that stopped him in his tracks. The voice did not come from the creatures of the Realm of the Abyss, but from within himself.
"Xiao Yan, stop!" The voice echoed in his mind, firm and commanding. It was the voice of the Flame King's Soul, which had long flowed within him. "The power you are unleashing is too dangerous. You are not ready."
Xiao Yan paused, trying to process those words. Until now, he had used the Flame King Technique quite well, but now, it seemed there was something far greater and darker than mere technique that he had to face. Something more terrifying lurked within the fire he wielded.
"What should I do?" Xiao Yan asked in frustration. "If I don't stop them now, this world will be destroyed."
"Never underestimate the power that comes from the Realm of the Abyss," the Flame King's Soul warned. "That power can destroy more than just your body. The open gate is a threat to the entire universe. You must close it, but do not use your power recklessly. Use it with caution."
Xiao Yan nodded slowly, feeling the weight of the decision ahead. Though he knew that facing these creatures would be an immensely difficult battle, he had no other choice. Yet, he also understood that this time, he could not fight in the usual way.
