Chapter 20 - Iron Pillar Temple and the Moon-Devouring Wolf Emperor!

Chapter 20: Iron Pillar Temple and the Moon-Devouring Wolf Emperor!

Xiao Yu returned to Xiaoxiang Pavilion from Tingyu Pavilion and immediately activated the courtyard’s protective formation to prevent any interruptions. With that done, he entered the training hall, sat cross-legged, and shifted his consciousness into the Hongmeng Space.

This was Xiao Yu’s first time training in the Hongmeng Space after reaching the Golden Core stage.

Ding!

“Since the host has advanced to the Golden Core stage, the effects of the Hongmeng Space have been enhanced. Time now flows at fifteen times the speed of the outside world!”

Upon hearing this notification, Xiao Yu was overjoyed.

“Fifteen times faster!”

Standing in the void of the Hongmeng Space, Xiao Yu felt his heart leap with excitement. The original tenfold acceleration was already a great boon. Now, it had increased by another 50%!

“With fifteenfold time acceleration, even the notoriously difficult Void Sword of Illusions should be within my reach.”

Not wanting to waste time, Xiao Yu began focusing on the sword technique stored in his mind.

The Void Sword of Illusions was the most devastating sword technique in the Ancient Sword World. It was a supreme killing move, created by Ziyin Zhenren after mastering the essence of countless sword arts.

The technique was divided into two parts:

Void Sword– A sword style epitomizing extreme gentleness and fluidity.

Illusion Sword– A sword style representing absolute force and rigidity.

Only by mastering both components and achieving perfect fusion between the two could one unleash the apocalyptic power of the Void Sword of Illusions.

“Void Sword embodies the ultimate in yin and softness, while Illusion Sword is its direct opposite, characterized by pure yang and unyielding force. Combining these polar opposites… It’s no wonder so few have ever succeeded.”

Understanding the monumental challenge ahead, Xiao Yu finally realized why this technique was so rarely mastered. Successfully integrating such contradictory principles seemed almost impossible.

Yet, he was undeterred.

“First things first—master the Void Sword. I’ll worry about fusion and backlash later.”

The Iron Pillar Temple was located atop the lush Mount Wanshou. A humble yet venerable sect of Daoist cultivators, the temple was revered by local villagers for upholding justice and protecting the weak.

Recently, however, the temple was plagued by a dire crisis.

“Disciple,” the temple’s elderly abbot asked one evening, seated in his meditation chamber, “with the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, has the wolf demon shown any unusual activity?”

The disciple replied respectfully, “Master, the wolf demon has been growing more restless by the day. Every night, it struggles against its chains, and its howls echo through the temple. The junior disciples are terrified.”

Hearing this, the abbot sighed deeply.

“A thousand years ago, our temple’s third abbot sacrificed everything to suppress that beast using the Iron Pillar Formation. But now… it stirs again.”

Over the past millennium, the wolf demon—dubbed the Moon-Devouring Wolf Emperor—had grown stronger and more bloodthirsty under the strain of its confinement.

“This beast has cultivated for a millennium. Even I, with my peak Foundation Establishment strength, cannot match it. Only the formation keeps it contained.”

“However, the formation has begun to weaken with age. On the night of the full moon, the wolf’s power will peak. If it escapes, not only will everyone in our temple perish, but the surrounding villages will be wiped out as well.”

“Master!” the disciple exclaimed. “The full moon is only days away! We must reinforce the seals immediately!”

The abbot shook his head.

“Alas, the formation is too intricate. Repairing it is beyond me alone. However, I once crossed paths with Hansu Zhenren of Tianyong City. I’ve already sent your senior brother to seek his aid.”

Hansu Zhenren was renowned for his altruism, and the abbot hoped that his plea would persuade the Tianyong sect to send a saviour.

In the tranquil courtyard of Xiaoxiang Pavilion, autumn had painted the trees in hues of red and gold. Beneath the pavilion’s protective formation, the ground remained pristine, blanketed with crimson leaves that danced in the gentle breeze.

Inside the Hongmeng Space, Xiao Yu had been training relentlessly for three years—over 1,000 days in the accelerated time flow.

Thanks to his Supreme Immortal Root, Xiao Yu encountered no bottlenecks. His mastery of both the Void Sword and Illusion Sword had reached the pinnacle.

In the boundless void of the Hongmeng Space, Xiao Yu stood poised, his hand resting lightly on the hilt of the Pure Yang Sword.

“Arise!”

With a resounding shout, he drew the sword, which gleamed brilliantly in golden light.

The blade trembled before splitting into thirty-two identical swords, each radiating an aura of boundless gentleness—the essence of the Void Sword.

The thirty-two swords began to rotate counterclockwise, forming a dazzling wheel of flying swords.

Xiao Yu marvelled at the scene, his lips curving into a faint smile.

“Finally… the Void Sword is complete. Next, I’ll master the Illusion Sword. And after that—fusion.”
