Chapter 6: The Gentle Disruption
Noah was sleeping soundly until the ray of light transiting through the window greeted her.
She could feel the heat on her face as she opened her eyes. With a hazy vision, she looked at the window near her bed. The sun was rising as brightly as ever. She rubbed her eyes a little and got up from her bed.
Her silky long hair was tangled and messy with few strands touching her face gently. She ran her fingers through her hair and slightly places them behind her ears.
She looked at the candle and realized she had forgotten to light the hour candle the previous night. It was so bright outside that it must be past seven.
Noah refreshed herself and come downstairs, only to see Aster sweeping the floor.
Aster heard her footsteps approaching, stopped his work for a moment. He looked at her coming downstairs and with his most radiant smile he asked, "Noah, did you sleep well yesterday?".
"It's blinding", Noah thought looking at her brother.
She replied calmly, "Yes, it wasn't bad, why?", as she walked past him and sat on the table in the living room. Aster now finished cleaning joined the table.
"I was waiting for you yesterday." Aster said as he sat opposite at the table.
The aroma of freshly brewed tea filled the living room. She noticed the teapot on the table and the steam rising from it. Noah looked around and found the living room impeccable.
"You should have at least eaten something.", Aster said, pouring the hot tea.
"Yeah, I was so tired yesterday.", said Noah.
"Seriously Why are working so hard with your fragile body?", Aster continued in his voice, still soft not deep.
"Says the one who barely got out bed yesterday.", Noah whispered in a low voice, not meeting his eyes.
"Did you say something?", Aster asked, as he was sure he heard something.
Noah now raising her eyebrows a little said, "It's nothing!"
Noah suddenly remembered yesterday's incident and without holding back she asked Aster, furrowing her brows, "Hey, why do you always misplace the herbs? How many times have I told you not to keep them on the upper shelf. You are not always in the shop and it's harder for me to reach them."
"And you also took the climbing chair? Why do you even take it?", Noah complained to Aster.
Noah already said this to him previously a few times. So, Aster listened to her without talking back.
He was expressionless listening to her. Noah, instantly felt a little bad about this. He even prepared her tea and cleaned the house.
Aster looked like he was holding back from saying something. He tapped his fingers on the table creating its own rhythm. He was looking at her with his topaz eyes and ebony hair, with cheeks still clear with no signs of beard.
Noah felt like seeing the male version of herself. She sipped the tea and was about to compliment Aster on the tea.
"Miss sleepyhead, what's for breakfast today?", Aster called her with a smug look bursting her bubble. She looked at him with disbelief... "What's wrong sleepyhead?", he tilted his head looking at Noah. He was smiling mischievously like he waiting for her response.
Noah's lips widened a little with anger. She let out a chuckle as she was glaring at him. "This brat...", Noah thought, staying calm.
"Hey little Brother...", Noah called him smiling, in her sweetest voice.
He was slightly startled by her sweet tone.
Then he asked "What?", with a confused and horrified look on his face. His playful provocation now gone and he knew what's going to happen.
Aster very well knows that if Noah is calm in this kind of situations, there is going to be a bigger comeback.
Noah continued saying, "Today we are having your favourite breakfast, guess what?"
"My favourite?", he asked excitedly, forgetting how unforgiving she was.
"Yes, we are having bread loaf today.", Noah said with a little smirk.
Aster was shocked to hear that. He hated bread loaf more than anything and she knew it for sure . He immediately regretted messing with her in the morning. Aster who doesn't want to argue accepted his fate to eat bread loaf today.
For Noah it became funny to see Aster. He was pouting, resting his head on the table. Aster still had some baby fat in his face. Noah barely holds her desire to poke on those cheeks.
She left for the kitchen and prepared him a tomato puree which was one of his favourites.
She still served the bread loaf on the side, but his face lit up as soon as he saw the puree. Both eat the breakfast Noah made.
After breakfast, Aster left to see Uncle Daniel as usual and Noah left for her store.
At the shop...
Noah started making herbal oil using the burner. She got this idea some time ago after reading it in the books. This oil, she was preparing was used for relieving body pain. She was humming and working thinking of the pleasant morning.
The morning turned out to be good than she expected. Seeing Aster's smile made her day and overall she also slept well yesterday.
The truth was Noah expected a long night of nightmares with lost sleep. She kept dreaming about the past whenever she remembered them, but to her surprise yesterday was different.
Not only did she have a good sleep, but she also so felt refreshed this morning.
Most importantly, this was the first time Noah didn't have a nightmare after thinking about the past. "What's so different about yesterday?", it piqued her curiosity.
Suddenly yesterday's events came rushing to her mind. She thought of the only different thing that happened yesterday. Everything was the same except that person. He came to her mind for no reason. Now all she can think of was his Tazel eyes that made everything pause.
Yesterday at the shop...
"Sir, may I know your name?", Noah politely asked, looking at him.
Then he replied, "Felix, my name is Felix.", with his deep and kind voice. He left the store after getting the herbs. Noah looked at his way and spoke, "So, Felix was his name..... That's a nice name.", with a gentle smile at that time.
At present...
Noah heard the blistering sound of the oil. It was boiling and switched off the burner instantly. She sighed at her negligence.

"Noah what were you doing now? You should be careful while working."
"Seriously, why am I thinking of him?", she couldn't believe it herself.
"I am not going to see him again anyway."
"I should stop having these useless thoughts and go visit Rachel."
Noah closed her shop, took the basket and left for Rachel's home. That's right who would want their life to be disrupted? Noah was satisfied with her current life. Everything was going well,
"There is no place for outliers in her life."
Her undisturbed routine will continue. Because now she wants her hard-earned peace more than anything.
As she reached Rachel's house Noah expected to be greeted by her friend's surprised face. Instead, the unanticipated surprise took her breath away. At that time, Noah had only one question on her mind.
"Why does life always strike you when you least expect it?" .....
