Worldwide Class Change: An Invincible Swordsman

Chapter 135, Secrets of the Divine Envoy_1

Jiang Chen hadn't saved Chiyoshima Hitomi just because she was a woman. He deeply understood a principle: when facing something that could dominate your destiny, it was best to remain reverent. And right now, Chiyoshima Hitomi was precisely such an entity.

Killing her would have been better than letting her live, Jiang Chen thought grimly. But now that I've saved her, even if we don't become friends, she won't be an enemy.

"I didn't expect you to step in."

Jiang Chen laughed. "There are many things you didn't expect."

Looking at Jiang Chen's smile, if it weren't for the fact he had killed people from the Sakura Alliance, I might actually have become friends with him, Chiyoshima Hitomi thought. Besides, the kid is quite handsome. Yes, and he has that pure smile.

Jiang Chen found a safe place, laid Chiyoshima Hitomi down, and sat beside her. He was very interested in Divine Envoys.

Especially their immunity to 99% of a Hero's damage. That's astoundingly powerful! Wouldn't that make them practically invincible? Heroes would have no chance against a Divine Envoy.

Jiang Chen asked, "If you don't mind my asking, how did you become a Divine Envoy?"

"It's very difficult," Chiyoshima Hitomi replied.

"How difficult?"

"In short, extremely difficult. You have to progress step by step, kill Demon Kings who serve the Evil God, accumulate military achievements, and then become a Divine Envoy. Of course, you also need capital."

Accursed capitalism, Jiang Chen thought. Even in Different Worlds, one can't escape the fate of being enslaved.

Chiyoshima Hitomi continued, "It's impossible for ordinary people to become Divine Envoys. I advise you to give up on that idea."

"At least you won't die," Jiang Chen commented.

"No, I can still die," she corrected. "If I'm caught by a Demon King serving the Evil God and he eats me, I'll die. I don't resurrect then. We only come back if a Hero kills us."

Jiang Chen laughed. "You really shouldn't have told me this secret. I'm starting to have some regrets."

Chiyoshima Hitomi glanced at him. "It's not too late for you to regret it now."

"You're mistaken. Since I've decided to save you, I'll see it through to the end. I will never hand you over. I don't want to become enemies with a Divine Envoy."

"You're strong," Chiyoshima Hitomi said. "I don't want to be enemies with you either. In the future, you could very well represent our world in the World War."

Jiang Chen fell silent.

He didn't understand why all these people wanted him to participate in the World War. Was this honor really so important? What exactly is honor? The key was, Jiang Chen simply didn't possess such feelings!

Jiang Chen silently took out a cigarette and lit it.

"Give me one," Chiyoshima Hitomi said.

"You smoke too?" Jiang Chen asked, surprised.

"What, can't women smoke?"

"I thought Divine Envoys didn't drink or smoke."

Chiyoshima Hitomi rolled her eyes at him. "Divine Envoys are people too, not gods."

"You're injured right now; smoking isn't good for you," Jiang Chen pointed out.

"It doesn't matter. I won't die from this anyway," she replied.

Jiang Chen passed his cigarette to Chiyoshima Hitomi. She took it without a word, placed it between her lips, and smoked silently.

Resigned, Jiang Chen took out another cigarette for himself and lit it silently.

"Is participating in the World War that important?" Jiang Chen asked.

"Yes, very important," Chiyoshima Hitomi affirmed. "Do you think we Divine Envoys are all-powerful, in charge of everything? You're mistaken. We're just ordinary Divine Envoys; there are higher-ranking Divine Envoys above us."

"Is that related to the World War?"

"Yes."

"How is it related?"

Chiyoshima Hitomi took a drag from her cigarette and explained, "As I said earlier, above Divine Envoys like us, there are other Divine Envoys, and those others are not from our world. For our world to rise, we must have a truly powerful individual."

"Someone strong enough to change the course of a war. The World War is our only chance. One day, when you become strong enough, you'll understand: destiny must be held in one's own people's hands."

Jiang Chen fell silent.

He agreed with that wholeheartedly. Not just in the future—Jiang Chen understood it even now.

Chiyoshima Hitomi continued, "And to control destiny, one must become a God to even have a chance."

"What Level is a God?" Jiang Chen asked.

"It's not about Levels. It's a realm above the Ninth-stage."

Damn it, above the Ninth-stage? I'm not even at the First-stage yet! How long will it take me to get there? To reach the Ninth-stage, I'd have to increase my Level like crazy. That goal is too distant. I'd better set a smaller one first: aim for the First-stage to begin with.

Looking at Chiyoshima Hitomi's expression, Jiang Chen still didn't take out any medicine to heal her injuries. After all, she isn't going to die from this, so let her be!

Chiyoshima Hitomi said, "You're very strong. You must be a Swordsman who has awakened your Talent. You have a chance to shine in the World War; if you do, you'll surely catch the attention of all the Different Worlds."

"That's not necessarily a good thing," Jiang Chen replied.

"The rewards are very generous," she insisted.

"Well, that part is a good thing," he conceded.

Chiyoshima Hitomi looked at Jiang Chen. "Do you harbor some sort of grudge against the Sakura Alliance? I can sense it."

Uh... Jiang Chen hesitated. How should I put this?

"No," he denied.

"Yes, you do," she pressed. "When I asked you to join the Sakura Alliance, you said its members were shit. That clearly shows hatred. Were your parents killed by someone from the Sakura Alliance?"

"That's not it. You're overthinking things," he refuted.

"I hope so," she sighed.

They both fell silent.

Jiang Chen looked up at the sky, where several large hawk-like beasts were circling. Evidently, Demon King Beckley wasn't going to let them off easily.

Jiang Chen stood up.

"If you can't defeat him, just kill me," Chiyoshima Hitomi offered. "I don't want to fall into the Demon King's hands. I'd be eaten alive and suffer a fate worse than death. Of course, you can also vent your hatred on me."

Jiang Chen turned back with a smile. "How would I vent it?"

"However you want to," she responded, her gaze steady.

I suspect you're implying something... suggestive.

"Since I've saved you, I will protect you. As for what you just said, I'll pretend I didn't hear it," Jiang Chen dismissed.

Jiang Chen's Perception picked up many Demonic Beings rushing towards them, a huge number. It looked like the Demon King planned to use Dark Creatures against them. The sensation was reminiscent of an incoming Beast Tide.

Jiang Chen walked to stand in front of Chiyoshima Hitomi. He prepared to face the new enemies.

THUD, THUD, THUD...

The ground shook. Chiyoshima Hitomi could clearly tell this wasn't just tens or hundreds of individuals; it was all the Dark Creatures from the Dark Zone. The Demon King was driving these creatures to attack them.

This was a Beast Tide. Every Beast Tide consisted of tens, even hundreds of thousands of Dark Creatures—an onslaught one person could not possibly withstand. Even a Divine Envoy like Chiyoshima Hitomi couldn't resist such a force.

Chiyoshima Hitomi sighed. "I've dragged you into this. I apologize."

Hearing the sincerity in her voice, Jiang Chen actually grinned. "No, you're helping me. This is a great opportunity to raise my Level. If things go well, I might even gain several Levels." With so many monsters attacking, I wonder how many I can kill? he thought excitedly.

His experience points are skyrocketing! Jiang Chen noted with satisfaction.

Chiyoshima Hitomi shook her head. "A Beast Tide... you can't hold it off alone."

"Not necessarily," Jiang Chen countered.

He activated his Heavenly Ruler Dragon Mode, pulling Chiyoshima Hitomi into his arms. With the multitude of creatures in the Beast Tide converging on them, he couldn't afford to be distracted by protecting her separately; holding her was the only way. If he couldn't hold them off, he would instantly use Flash in the Void to teleport them out.

The two looked ahead at the oncoming Dark Creatures, countless of them approaching in swarms.

Three Hundred Sword Auras materialized and surrounded them, forming an impenetrable vortex as the Sword Qi spun rapidly.

Chiyoshima Hitomi finally began to understand Jiang Chen's method of attack. He could freely control these hundreds of Sword Auras, shaping them into any formation on the battlefield.

No wonder this guy was able to kill 200,000 people in the Alliance tournament!

As the Dark Creatures advanced, they died one by one under Jiang Chen's Sword Qi, which mercilessly reaped their lives. Soon, a pile of Dark Creature corpses lay before Jiang Chen.

Chiyoshima Hitomi commented, "Your Sword Qi is very slow. It would be easy for a true master to dodge. You need more speed."

Jiang Chen nodded.

He was well aware of this. He had a Skill Book for Thundering Sword Art, a Passive Skill that increased Sword Qi speed, but unfortunately, he needed to reach the First-stage before he could learn it. Its slowness doesn't matter for now, he thought. I just need to shrink the defensive circle.

With a thought, Jiang Chen shrank the circle of Sword Qi to a 20-meter radius around them, creating an impassable wall. The Dark Creatures simply could not breach Jiang Chen's Sword Aura Shield.

Just then, an unexpected change occurred. Demon King Beckley, Scythe in hand, charged through the onslaught and swung it directly at Jiang Chen's head, cleaving forcefully down.
