Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost

Chapter 312: Elevator Dismantling Techniques_1

CREAK, CREAK...

The horrifying sound of chewing emanated from Room 401.

Three people, their faces etched with terror, crawled out awkwardly. They had taken the stairs, unlike Wang Linchi who had used the elevator.

There should have been eight of them originally, but due to internal strife, incidents on the stairs, and other issues, only three made it to the fourth floor.

Two sturdy men and a middle-aged woman. Their hearts sank when they heard the commotion from Room 401.

"Room 401... that should be the one who took the elevator, right?" the middle-aged woman asked, her voice trembling.

Their impression of Wang Linchi was that he was recklessly brave; they hadn't expected him to die just like that. From the looks of it, he had been eaten. Moreover, a considerable amount of time had clearly passed since they started climbing up.

Just as one of the sturdy men was about to agree, the door to Room 401 abruptly swung open.

"You're up? What took you so long?" They saw Wang Linchi holding a large piece of meat and stuffing it into his mouth, his words somewhat muffled.

The three watched as the charred, bloody flesh in Wang Linchi's hand occasionally twitched. Yet, Wang Linchi was not only unfazed but even dared to chew on it like that.

A horrifying, chilling sensation compelled them to take a step back.

The middle-aged woman instinctively wanted to scream, but thankfully, the sturdy man beside her reacted quickly and clamped a hand over her mouth.

The other sturdy man forced a smile and said, "Taking the stairs is definitely a bit slower. Can't compare to you taking the elevator."

The situation before them was utterly bizarre. Although they had no idea how to deal with it, they understood one thing: in such a strange predicament, it was best not to offend him.

"Alright, being slow is understandable." After stuffing all the meat into his mouth, Wang Linchi then asked, "Want some? It doesn't taste great, but it fills you up."

"No, no, we're not hungry yet," the two sturdy men hurriedly replied.

They wouldn't eat it even if they were starving. Given the circumstances, what if he tricked them into the room and devoured them all?

Previously, they had thought the so-called Evil Demon in Room 401 was eating Wang Linchi. As it turned out, Wang Linchi was eating the Evil Demon. This strange situation was far beyond their comprehension.

"That's just as well, I've run out too," Wang Linchi said, grinning.

This instantly made the hearts of the three pound.

He's not going to eat us, is he? He shouldn't. We're Players; if we die here, we'll just respawn back there. But if Wang Linchi did this, wouldn't it be tantamount to isolating himself from the world? This is cannibalism.

"Ah... well, we still have some things to do. We need to check into our rooms. You go on ahead," one of the sturdy men quickly said. He didn't want to continue chatting with Wang Linchi any longer, fearing he might have to offer up a couple of pounds of his own flesh to get away.

"Yes, yes, you go on," the other sturdy man chimed in.

"Alright then, see you later," Wang Linchi didn't make things difficult for them. Everyone should mind their own business. There was no need to wipe them out, especially since there was no conflict of interest.

The three of them, greatly relieved as if granted amnesty, quickly departed, supporting the middle-aged woman between them on either side. It wasn't that they wanted to do so, but the middle-aged woman's legs had gone soft. Luckily, someone had been supporting her; otherwise, she would have undoubtedly collapsed to the ground, unable to move.

Wang Linchi, on the other hand, turned towards the elevator, pressed the button, and waited for it to arrive.

The three were utterly baffled at this moment, not because Wang Linchi was taking the elevator, but because he had discovered that all the room numbers were jumbled up. Except for Wang Linchi's Room 401, which was the first on the left-hand side, there was no discernible pattern.

Should we just pick one randomly, or check in according to the jumbled room numbers?

This was their decision and had nothing to do with Wang Linchi, because the elevator had arrived.

The moment the elevator doors opened, Wang Linchi saw a skull reflected in them.

"This pile of big bones... if I were to eat them, I'd probably need a really good set of teeth," Wang Linchi muttered, his mind already contemplating how to drag out this Erroneous Sin and consume it.

If I can't get it out, even the best teeth won't do me any good.

BEEP, BEEP.

The elevator sounded an alarm and flashed a red light, seemingly urging Wang Linchi to enter quickly.

However, Wang Linchi remained motionless, looking as if he had no intention of entering.

The stalemate continued for about two minutes, while the other three Players were still agonizing over what to do.

Then, the elevator doors began to close. As they did, the elevator car filled to the brim with red light. Amidst the closing process, a large, white skeletal hand emerged from the red light, as if squeezed out of the elevator, and lunged towards Wang Linchi.

Seeing this, Wang Linchi kicked out, directly snapping the red bone hand. He then decisively reached out and jammed the elevator doors, which had closed to a mere slit.

"I haven't even gotten on the elevator, and you're already closing it? Absolutely no sense of service, huh?" Wang Linchi forcibly pried open the nearly closed elevator doors. Large amounts of blood gushed out from the elevator.

Mixed within the blood were humanoid skeletons, which gradually flowed out to cover the entire fourth-floor hallway.

Witnessing this, the conflicted trio of Players felt their souls nearly leave their bodies in terror. They had never imagined things could escalate like this.

Still, they dared not approach Wang Linchi, primarily because his actions were simply too brutal, inspiring awe and fear just by watching.

One's image is very important, and Wang Linchi's current image was far from good; they were definitely terrified.

"Come out on your own, or I'll dismantle this elevator for you," Wang Linchi always meant what he said.

However, the Erroneous Sin had no self-awareness; it only operated according to set rules.

If things were within the rules, they could be quite flexible. But when something outside the rules occurred—like Wang Linchi being able to deal with an Erroneous Sin barehanded—it was a situation for which there were no rules, making any attempt at a corresponding counterattack seem feeble.

Seeing no response from the elevator, Wang Linchi's expression turned grim.

"Refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit, huh? Then don't blame me for getting rough today," Wang Linchi said, and as he spoke, he wrenched the elevator doors off their hinges.

This scene made the trio of Players shiver uncontrollably, too scared to move. It was the first time they had witnessed such violent methods.

In a flash, Wang Linchi tore off both elevator doors, then kicked the surrounding walls. After clearing the obstructions, he began to forcibly drag the elevator car onto the fourth floor.

"Sh-shouldn't we get into a room quickly...?" the middle-aged woman next to them muttered softly. She felt that not even the Fusion of the game with reality had delivered such a great Impact as today's events. After all, the Impact of the game's Fusion with reality hadn't actually been that significant; they were, at least, still alive. But this brutal scene was now a direct assault on her mind. It was like being thrust from a society ruled by law directly into a supernatural world.

"Go, let's go quickly!" one of the sturdy men, also terrified, urged. He was scared that Wang Linchi, on a whim, might casually smash them all into meat paste along with the elevator.

"Go by the door numbers! Don't worry if they're jumbled, just get inside first!" the other sturdy man hurriedly advised.

Wang Linchi's demolition of the elevator grew increasingly ferocious. Every thud of his attacks landing on the elevator car felt like a blow to their own hearts.

"Don't follow the door numbers; they're fake. Mine was 401, the one next to it is 402. Go in sequential order." Wang Linchi had noticed their actions. Given that these three hadn't offended him and had been quite polite, he offered a kind reminder out of a sense of humanitarianism.

However, the three of them simply didn't believe Wang Linchi.

After all, Wang Linchi's appearance didn't exactly inspire trust. Conversely, the jumbled door numbers, despite the Chaos, strangely reassured them.

Seeing they wouldn't listen to his advice, Wang Linchi didn't bother any further. Good advice is wasted on those determined to die. Since they don't believe me, there's nothing I can do. It wouldn't be me dying anyway, so why should I care about so many others?

The trio quickly entered their chosen rooms. However, just as they went inside, the previously chaotic room numbers reverted to their normal sequence.

As for what the three would encounter next, Wang Linchi didn't need to think to know: they had definitely encountered an Erroneous Sin.

Using the correct key card for the correct room would, at most, result in a fright. But entering the wrong room? It was impossible not to pay a price.

Meanwhile, Wang Linchi had already dragged the Erroneous Sin out from the elevator.

A Muddy Skull, resembling soft ooze, was embedded in the back panel of the elevator, looking incredibly strange.

Wang Linchi fished it out and dismantled the elevator into smithereens.

The good news is this thing isn't solid.

The bad news is, getting it down might be a bit disgusting.

Wang Linchi looked at the Muddy Skull, bewildered. This thing is so soft; how could it have broken its back imitating my posture earlier? Could it be that it only became so limp after breaking its back trying to copy me? That... actually seems quite reasonable.
