Chapter 304: The Goblin Catching the Bus_1
The situation inside the palace somewhat shattered Wang Linchi's worldview.
It wasn't the various horrific, fleshy limbs he had imagined, but rather a clean, modern-looking base.
"A guest?" a voice inquired.
Wang Linchi immediately grew vigilant. Things this strange usually meant trouble, not to mention the entire style had completely changed.
"I apologize, but I cannot entertain you. I am leaving shortly."
Although Wang Linchi hadn't replied, the other party spoke these words, which puzzled him somewhat.
"I can only apologize for the impact caused to the world. However, I will take most of the impact with me and reduce the world's losses in the most efficient way possible."
"Since you're from another world, it's best you leave quickly. The world you're currently in is about to face a major problem; this is merely a reminder," the other party said. As for knowing Wang Linchi was an outsider, that was simple; the speaker's power was unfathomable—it would be problematic if they *didn't* know.
"Wait, are you that Goblin?" Wang Linchi asked hastily.
"Ah... externally, I did resemble a Goblin somewhat at the very beginning. But we are artificial creations, a new species," the other party corrected Wang Linchi's statement.
"Since you, as a representative of the Abyss, are leaving, what else could cause the world to face problems?" Wang Linchi was rather perplexed.
"Um... you might have misunderstood. The Abyss hasn't come at all; I'm just returning to the Abyss. The previous world *should* have been enough for my return, but... well, never mind, it's in the past. In any case, the danger doesn't originate from the Abyss. Those so-called Abyssal Demons and Demonized Creatures you've seen are actually just a trivial bit of pollution I caused," the other party stated.
Wang Linchi felt a chill crawl up his spine. What on earth was this creature?
So, you're a powerhouse from the Abyss? Wang Linchi thought this was highly probable.
"No, I'm a farmer. I got slapped over here because I egged on a certain dragon to go pluck leaves from the World Tree," the other party explained this bizarre tale in a very ordinary tone.
Wang Linchi was momentarily speechless.
"So, rest assured, the Abyss is very far from here. If the true Abyss were to descend, this world would become a part of it before any form of resistance could even be mustered," the other party kindly reassured him.
"Then where is this danger coming from?" Wang Linchi felt something wasn't right. If you're not the primary source of danger, then who is?
"Before you arrived, this world was a perfectly ordinary urban online game. After you came, it became dangerous." The other party's words left Wang Linchi dumbfounded.
"What do you mean?" How did I become a harbinger of disaster? I haven't even done anything!
"It's rather complicated. To summarize briefly, you messed up the Protagonist's Aura, causing the world to bug out. Haven't you noticed some familiar things appearing in the real world?" the other party asked directly.
At this, Wang Linchi internally cursed. The familiar things... of course, they're referring to the error-type Living Soul Species, which are also Erroneous Sin!
"Correct, it's Erroneous Sin. This phenomenon exists in many worlds and is caused by errors in the rules. Some call them Anomalies, others call them Urban Legends. The emergence of this Sin of Rules was truly an accident."
"You've destroyed the Destiny of both Order and Chaos and even taken it upon yourself. This is equivalent to copying a portion of the rules from your other worlds onto this one. Under such a massive convergence of errors, the world will soon crash and die."
"So, if you can flee, you should do so quickly. Based on my observations, the world will cease to function in three years at most."
"And during these three years, errors will occur with increasing frequency, until they assimilate all of Chaos and Order."
The other party seemed to hold nothing back, sharing all they knew.
"Is the world that fragile?" Wang Linchi asked skeptically, feeling as though the other party might be fabricating this to deceive him.
"Under normal circumstances, it indeed isn't this fragile. The problem is, circumstances aren't normal right now," the other party replied evasively, not explaining why they weren't normal.
"Apologies, I'm afraid we can't chat any longer. My shuttle has arrived. If I talk more, I'll miss it and have to wait another cycle."
"As you're the first to arrive, I'll leave some of the things I have here for you as a thank-you gift."
Clearly, the other party didn't want to say more. Wang Linchi was actually quite curious about what this "shuttle" was.
"Little Xuan, it's time for us to go back. Stop hitting people, you little rascal!" the other party called out. Following this, the colossal King Xuan began to collapse, ultimately shrinking into a one-eyed Meatball adorned with tiny tentacles.
The entire palace was now floating in the Void.
The one-eyed Meatball receded into the depths of the palace and vanished.
This abrupt departure brought the intense battle to an immediate halt.
Before Wang Linchi could speak further, he sensed a powerful, whistling roar.
Wang Linchi saw two enormous celestial bodies, one black and one white, drifting over from the endless Void.
Before he could get a clear look, a dark figure leaped up. In mid-air, countless shadows continuously swirled around it, finally encasing it to form a giant Mecha.
The Mecha soared across the Void, landing directly upon the black and white twin stars.
These two celestial bodies were the shuttle the other party had spoken of.
In less than a second, it was all over. The twin celestial bodies instantly receded into the distance, as if nothing had ever happened.
"Argh... you caught your shuttle, but what about me?!" Wang Linchi had never even seen this supposed Goblin, nor had he cleared the Demon Suppression Alliance instance; instead, the other party had simply absconded.
With the other party gone, Wang Linchi couldn't return now.
The main issue was the immense distance; he couldn't contact his main body.
As for the Game System... Wang Linchi glanced back; it had shrunk so much it didn't dare move, likely terrified by King Xuan.
Wang Linchi was unsure what to say for a moment.
Ultimately, he could only search the palace first. The Goblin who had rushed for the shuttle mentioned leaving his things for him. They should be useful, right?
"There's so much equipment I don't understand, and a large number of bizarrely-shaped creatures—probably the prototypes of the so-called Abyssal Demons."
Isn't there anything here I can actually use?
Wang Linchi searched for nearly an hour, feeling like a primitive man in a modern world, understanding nothing.
And indeed, that was the reality. Compared to the other party's technological level, Wang Linchi's was sorely lacking.
"Inheritance System activating..."
Abruptly, a mechanical voice sounded.
Wang Linchi looked up. Not far away, a semi-ethereal projection of a female figure with a third eye on her forehead appeared.
"Welcome to the Three-Eyed Clan Inheritance System. Commencing diagnostics..."
The third eye on the forehead of the semi-ethereal female projection scanned Wang Linchi like an X-ray.
"System compiler authority detected. Trial phase skipped. Commencing inheritance transmission..."
This rapid succession of events caught Wang Linchi completely off guard.
"Wait a minute, I just want to know..." Wang Linchi hurriedly tried to intervene. He was completely unprepared; how could it be transmitted to him so directly?
However, before he could finish speaking, a beam of light struck his forehead. Subsequently, a torrent of knowledge flooded his mind like an explosion.
Caught off guard, Wang Linchi nearly fainted. The moment he regained his senses, he began to continuously receive and organize this data through his Thought Mirror.
The inheritance transmission was incredibly fast, completing in just five minutes.
"Inheritance complete. Initiating self-destruct sequence. Inheritor, please evacuate immediately." After uttering these final words, the projection dissipated.
Wang Linchi then came to his senses.
"Damn it, what kind of messed-up thing are you?! I get the self-destruct part, but couldn't you at least send me away first?"
Wang Linchi suspected this thing was probably something the Goblin had casually cobbled together before leaving, riddled with too many bugs.
[Network reconnection successful...]
Seeing this line of text appear before him, Wang Linchi heaved a sigh of relief. This was, at least, some good news.
After the Goblin's successful retreat, the Game System finally stopped cowering.
[Initiating return sequence. Player, please do not resist.]
Wang Linchi saw the Game System's firewall in the distance begin to transform and advance towards the palace.
From the looks of it, it seemed to be planning to claim the palace for itself.
"Um, this palace is probably about to explode..." Wang Linchi kindly relayed.
After all, the self-destruct sequence countdown had begun. The Game System probably understood as little as he did; otherwise, how could it dare to make a move after the beating it took?
Wang Linchi was teleported away. As for what the Game System was thinking, Wang Linchi didn't know. All he heard was a deafening roar and terrifying tremors. The Game System had most likely been caught squarely in the blast.
