Working as a police officer in Mexico

Chapter 583: All the Monsters and Gods Take the Stage!

How do you feel when you hear the air raid siren?

Stunned? Afraid? Horrified!

Or perhaps it's a rush of hormones, bringing a surge of excitement?

It varies.

But for the officers and soldiers stationed in Juarez of the 179th Army, it's dignity!

Here, there's only the Military Department and the Direct Guard Division along with one IM-104 Patriot air defense missile regiment. Besides that, there's also an 89th Reserve Division, with slightly simpler equipment, including a battalion with 6 SA-11 air defense missiles stationed on the west side of Juarez.

9:17 PM, June 24, 1993!

The Juarez campaign fully launched.

The dark skyline slowly descended, the epic sound of war drums gradually rising, the scene suddenly cutting to a towering steel and concrete defense tower.

The four dual-mounted 128mm anti-aircraft guns on the tower roared into action, shells tearing through the smoke-filled sky, faintly visible amidst the exploding firelight. The barrels of the anti-aircraft guns glowed red from continuous firing, crew members frantically reloading ammunition amidst the deafening alarms, rusty alarm bells inside the tower shaking wildly, piercing the screen with shrill ringing...

All deployable weapons below formed a web of firepower in the sky...

The bombs dropped from the fighter jets were blown up in mid-air, yet unfortunately, the U.S. military was still cunning, breaking in from other angles in separate waves!

There is no perfect spear in the world.

Nor is there the most invincible shield!

Two B-52 bombers emerged from the cloud layers at tens of thousands of meters high, Juarez lacking high-altitude air defense weapons and insufficient firepower just watched as its lower belly opened, cluster bombs screaming toward the ground.

After evading multiple layers of low-altitude defense net...

It smashed atop a building, boom!!

The massive explosion shockwave shattered all the glass within two to three kilometers' radius.

The building collapsed like a crispy chip...

The white car parked outside was overturned, alarms blaring continuously.

Many civilians ran downstairs in panic, stood on the street, looked up, watched the sky in fear, some attempted to search through the rubble, but how could there be any survivors in such a place?

The heart-wrenching cries in the night were especially unbearable.

On the B-52 at 12,365 meters high, the crew hadn't had time to be happy before the radar panel blared with buzzing alarms!

"Lock, lock!"

"AIM-120D!"

The radar wave lasted only a few seconds before the reality was already locked by the fire control radar!

Basically, there's no escape.

Damn...

Didn't even see anyone...

Who's playing close-range dogfights with you now, Mexico's newly equipped F22 carrying AIM-120D can hit beyond 160 kilometers!

Maybe spotted you over another state's sky, directly fired the missile!

"Radar interference!"

"Decoy flares for cover."

The B-52 pilot, highly experienced, quickly released decoy flares in the air, prompting the escort fighter jets beside to do the same...

Poof, poof, poof, poof...

Just like using an enema, constantly spraying things out, lighting up the sky.

Four AIM-120Ds, like killers in the night, passed through the moonlight, howling from over a hundred kilometers away over Coahuila State!

Very fast!

2.5 Mach!

Much more agile than the huge B-52.

Piercing through the outer defense network at supersonic speed, the bomber didn't get far, being directly hit from a distance, exploded in mid-air under the astonished eyes of the F15 escort pilots!

"Mexican Air Force is here!!"

Someone shouted on the radio channel.

The deputy commander of the 377th Air Force Base regiment leading the team looked left and right, decisively issued the retreat order.

The air force over Juarez was also in a miserable state due to ground air defense weapons, losing 2 F15s and 2 F14s, shot down by air defense battalions. They wished to locate the air defense units, but those guys were too cunning, simply invisible on radar.

To continue fighting without air superiority, there's no good ending.

So, retreat!

Besides bombing Juarez, the 377th Air Force regiment had another mission, which was to open a space, attract fire for the succeeding 82nd Airborne Division!

Around 80 kilometers behind in the rear, three C-130 transport planes flew at high altitude along the border to Ojinaga in Chihuahua State, a small town with a population of only over 2,000. But due to its important geographical position, it was garrisoned by one battalion of the Mexican 179th Army, about 360 people, fully armed, equipped with artillery.

"Gentlemen, stand, stand!"

Colonel Hector Watts of the 1st Airborne Infantry Brigade's 504th Parachute Regiment grabbed the handle, soldiers around all looked over.

"I'll repeat once more, what we want to do is drop atop Ojinaga, surprise those Mexicans, open up victory for the succeeding tank units, the future belongs to us, please shout our slogan:"

"ALL THE WAY!!"

"Glory belongs to us!"

The 82nd Airborne Division is a U.S. elite force, having participated in multiple key battles in the Second World War, including the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Ardennes, and the Salerno Invasion, showcasing its formidable fighting power and exceptional tactical prowess.

Furthermore, the 82nd Airborne Division also participated in modern wars such as the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War, always maintaining a high state of readiness, demonstrating its rapid response and mobility.

The Pentagon intends to use elite forces to break through, allowing tank units to swiftly go south, rapidly annihilating the armed forces in Chihuahua State.

The C-130's hatch slowly opened, and over a thousand soldiers from the 504th Regiment leapt out of the transport plane!

Real men enjoy the passion of the sky!

The wind by the ear brushing the hair at the temples, love you, Mom!

You can say Uncle Sam is bad, but you can't say Uncle Sam is weak!

Especially the 82nd Airborne Division, a whole regiment rapidly descending under the cover of night, only a few units in the world can pull that off.

The entire regiment is equipped with individual night vision devices; besides carbines, they also carry M224 60mm mortars, and even Humvees are air-dropped with TOW missiles (BGM-71 TOW) on them.

As light infantry, this firepower is sufficient.

Colonel Hector Watts of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment heard a scream in mid-air, turned his head, and saw a figure spiraling down like a propeller.

"Open the reserve chute! Reserve chute!!" He shouted loudly.

But the person below clearly couldn't hear, and in the blink of an eye, disappeared into the night.

Hector Watts pursed his lips, adjusted his posture, landed on the ground with a crouch, cut open the parachute with a dagger, and pressed the radio, "All companies, quickly regroup, attack Ojinaga!"

Suddenly, he felt a bloody scent in his nostrils, and something seemed to be dripping from above. Looking up, his eyes shrank as he saw a lieutenant impaled by a rugged branch through the chest, hanging like a skewer.

Hector Watts quickly lowered his head, sprinting madly toward Ojinaga three kilometers away, following the map provided by the rear Combat Center.

Many people have a misconception…

They think the U.S. Military's stamina is lacking, but that's not true. Many combat units need to sprint several kilometers; if their stamina were lacking, how could they endure the full operation?

With tens of pounds of weapons and equipment on you, if your stamina faltered and you were winded after a few steps, you'd be a real strawberry soldier?

The U.S. Military places great emphasis on physical fitness!

The reason why many despise or look down on it is because your ancestors once ran 72.5 kilometers in 14 hours at the peak of the light infantry.

According to U.S. Military physical fitness standards, 3.2 kilometers should be within 12 minutes.

The 82nd Airborne Division's requirements are even stricter!

So, when Hector Watts hoisted his gear, he didn't feel burdened at all; military superiors aren't all fat pigs, and later, the U.S. Military was so overstretched!

It's all because of being dragged down by 20 years of security warfare…

The most important point, The Pentagon and White House keep producing oddities.

But this is the 90s, the peak time for U.S. elite forces.

15 minutes later, the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment reached the outskirts of Ojinaga and directly engaged in combat.

Over a thousand people burst in from three places…

The Mexican 179th Army's 87th Regiment C Company stationed here!

When Juarez was bombed, the whole company was ready for battle, planning to aid Juarez, but no one expected the U.S. Parachute Regiment to directly surprise attack.

Ojinaga extinguished its lights early, and residents usually slept early, but the artillery and whistling from Juarez made them somewhat restless tonight.

To prevent unrest, C Company even dispatched armed patrols, just so happened to face the U.S. Military directly.

Intense firefights erupted between the two sides…

The patrol was outnumbered and sacrificed heroically.

"Artillery! Artillery!" Hector Watts pressed the headset and shouted.

The soldiers carrying mortars formed groups of three, didn't even use bases, directly handled them, and began shelling forward using manual setups.

A regiment has about 60 or more M224 60mm mortars, which pack quite a punch, leaving hole after hole in human targets.

"Charge! Charge! Charge!"

...

Buzz buzz buzz~

The phone rang urgently in the side room.

The bedside lamp was turned on.

Victor shivered and picked up the phone, "Hello!"

"Boss, it's an urgent military situation." Casare was anxious on the other end; you could tell from his tone.

"Wait for me downstairs."

After hanging up, Victor, still in pajamas, ran out; he hadn't slept with his wife, who was a few months pregnant and quite sensitive.

He exited the room, went downstairs, and saw Casare coming up to him, "Latest battle update, an hour ago, U.S. paratroopers launched a surprise attack on Ojinaga, over 300 of our battalion's soldiers were killed..."

Victor's hand trembled, feeling a heavy weight on his chest.

"A whole battalion wiped out?"

Casare shook his head with downcast eyes, "The U.S. Military's tactics are too cunning; they focus on blowing up a point, then advance from elsewhere, which has caused issues in the defense line in Chihuahua State."

"To the Department of Defense."

Victor went straight out, and the security personnel outside hurried to open the door. Victor instinctively glanced, pupils suddenly contracting.

"Gerald Meyer!"

"Male!"

"Identity: Mexico Special Service Bureau bodyguard."

"Recently: Addicted to gambling, secretly owes millions of riyals, unable to pay back, intends to kidnap Victor or his family to claim the bounty from the black market!"

Victor's mouth opened halfway, expression shifting, retreating behind Casare!
