Working as a police officer in Mexico

Chapter 245: Victor's Name Written into Textbooks!

Manfred von Richthofen stood by the barracks window with a cigarette in his mouth.

"Copying the 'Military Code'?"

"The Red Baron" can't read!

Suddenly, he raised his eyebrows, seeing a P-51 wobbling back in the distance. He looked around and wondered why there was one less.

The other planes also wobbled heavily, their wings severely damaged. As they landed, it was almost nose-first, scraping up sparks on the runway. The ground crew, having been notified earlier, hurriedly rushed forward.

Manfred von Richthofen ran out the door too.

He saw several pilots slowly climb down.

"Where's Super 68? Where's Migos?" he grabbed Ernst Udet's shoulder and asked loudly.

The latter hung his head, "Hit by a missile, he bailed out."

Manfred immediately felt a pressure in his heart—Migos was his best friend, a mentor as well as a comrade.

To bail out means to be killed in action!

The drug traffickers, led by Guzman, wouldn't adhere to the "Geneva Conventions."

"Quick! Be careful, take him to the hospital."

A pilot with abdominal shrapnel wounds was carried off the plane, and the ambulance that had been ready drove straight to the airport hospital with sirens blaring.

But with the medical conditions here, they still had to send him further back.

Manfred von Richthofen clenched his fist, "Guzman!"

The downing of Super 68 cast a haze over everyone like a fog.

And in Tijuana and the Baja California region.

Many people woke up from their sleep.

And suddenly realized something was not right.

On TV, a stern-looking middle-aged broadcaster spoke with a serious tone, "Mexican Communication Agency Tijuana time, August 14th:"

"Authorized by the Official Residence of the Governor, the Mexican Communication Agency made the following announcement on August 14th, 1990…"

"Led by Guzman, drug traffickers repeatedly provoke and attack humanity's baseline, recently mobilizing armed personnel to carry out inhumane attacks on government-controlled areas, assaulting and harming civilians—their actions are despicable, posing a serious threat to Mexico's peace and security and tarnishing the international image. The Northern Anti-Drug Force, entrusted by the people and the Mexican Government, will conduct a comprehensive internal clean-up operation."

"On the evening of August 13th, Tijuana time, approximately 9,000 troops from three regiments were deployed, and by dawn, they had consecutively captured seven towns including 'San Blas,' 'Topolobampo,' 'Choix,' with their spearhead less than 400 kilometers from the Capital of Sinaloa, Culiacán!"

"Justice will prevail!"

"Victor will prevail!"

"The cause will prevail!"

Kids wearing newsboy caps ran swiftly in the streets, weaving through the crowds, "The Anti-Drug Force announces open recruitment; Mexican citizens aged 18 to 35 years old are eligible to register. Families with one member serving in the Anti-Drug Force will receive free medical care for the whole family!"

"The Northern Military University, Tijuana Military Academy, Victor Special Operations College, and Northern Mexican Army Military Theory University announce open enrollment! Upon admission, students will immediately hold a police rank with full scholarship and living expenses covered!"

"The Official Residence of the Governor announces: From today, August 14th, all elementary schools, middle schools, and universities in the controlled areas will waive tuition fees, and people over 70 years old will receive 300 pesos monthly from Tijuana!"

"Furthermore, permanently residing households in the controlled areas will be exempt from tax, water, electricity, and salt expenses, with subsidies provided to low-income groups!"

On his second day in office as Governor, Victor launched a series of well-prepared educational and social welfare policies.

It left everyone stunned!

Despite a population of over thirty million, there actually aren't that many over the age of 70—probably between 500,000 and a million.

The demographic structure of Mexico is quite healthy.

After all...

To live till 70 in such a place...

Wow, what a feat!

They're definitely not lacking in luck.

The policy of exempting permanent households from taxes, water, electricity, and salt costs alone rapidly boosted Victor's supporters in the slums.

With this combination of punches, the hearts of the people in Sonora and the Baja California region were boiling!

"Long live Victor! Long live the Northern Alliance!"

A middle-aged man with glasses scattered pesos from atop the tallest building in Tijuana, as hundreds gathered below, joining the hullabaloo.

And in another square, hundreds of people "organized" and held up pictures of Victor and Casare in celebration, singing songs for their leader.

Meanwhile, Victor stood in his office, overlooking the scene below.

He could feel people shouting his name.

He planned to boost the number of Golden Finger military employees from the current 3,000 to 10,000, adding 7,000 new core members who would serve as junior unit leaders. With them as the cornerstone, he aimed to recruit about 60,000 new recruits.

The remaining 2,000 Golden Finger employees would develop in finance, entertainment, sports, and education.

Directly raising the quality of personnel!

The only downside was the 2.3 billion points dwindling rapidly like running water, leaving a lonely 600 million behind.

The Air, Land, and Sea Police numbers had shot up to 111,000!

If this isn't a warlord, who the hell is?

Victor was a bit intoxicated, watching the country he handled personally transform from mud to betterment.

The vanity and sense of achievement made him feel wonderful.

He even had the leisure to take a couple of sips, raising his glass to the sunlight in the sky, "Cheers."

But in the next second, someone knocked on the door, and Casare walked in, "Boss, the casualty report has been tallied."

"Read it."

"Ground police forces suffered 221 killed in action, 112 critically wounded, 1,789 slightly wounded, with the loss of 21 various armored vehicles and 17 artillery pieces."
