Chapter 48: Chapter 48: The Altered Timeline and the Blind Hand
Su Nan channeled his power into Blom, layering it with the combined strength of twenty werewolf messengers and one super werewolf.
The surge of magical energy caused Blom to roar as his body expanded, growing over fifty centimeters taller.
His muscles swelled, rippling like forged steel, and dark energy coiled around him like tendrils of smoke.
The one-star bloodline wizard cultist stared in shock, his half-blind eyes wide as he instinctively stepped back. "Such power! Impossible! How could such magic exist in this world? Semi-physical magic…that's the hallmark of a first-tier wizard apprentice."
"A mere mortal mage achieving this level? Ridiculous!"
Su Nan, controlling Blom's body, glanced at the cultist with interest. So this was what semi-physical magic meant—a level where magic became almost tangible, visible only to those with significant spiritual strength.
The bloodline wizard roared, his voice tinged with desperation. "Why resist? Surrender to the Blind King! His arrival is inevitable. Why fight? Embrace your fate, and the perfect world will come! This land belongs to us. Humanity exists only to serve the Blind King!"
He raised his Bulgar battle axe, cold winds swirling around it. "By the name of the Blind Nun—humans, embrace indifference…"
Before he could finish, the axe shattered in his hands.
The wind magic dissipated.
Cold sweat beaded on the cultist's forehead as he turned his gaze to Blom. The werewolf had closed the distance in an instant, breaking the axe to prevent him from completing his attack.
But why hadn't the werewolf struck him directly? The cultist should have been dead already.
What was this mage after?
Fear crept into his heart.
Su Nan, of course, wasn't planning to kill him just yet. His analysis through the Mindlink was still incomplete.
The Intellect System transmitted a new instruction: "Increase the pressure on him to push his abilities to the limit. Continue emitting magical pulses at one-minute intervals, shifting the angle by 90 degrees each time."
Su Nan raised his left hand, the Sacrificial Hand brimming with concentrated magical energy. At 15.6 spiritual power, the hand's telekinetic strength had reached 3.7, enough to annihilate even a seasoned knight with ease.
The cultist felt an invisible force clutch his throat, lifting him into the air.
He was dragged toward Blom, whose claws gleamed ominously. If he continued forward, those claws would pierce his chest.
"No, no…!" the cultist gasped, struggling in midair.
"I need more power!"
He screamed into the night, his voice breaking. "Anything! Let anyone into my body! By the name of the Blind King, take me! Don't let me die in this wretched land before its inevitable collapse! Please, my god, inhabit me!"
A cold voice echoed in response. "I hear you. I accept your contract."
Su Nan, sensing a sudden shift, immediately took control of Blom's legs, leaping back just as the ground beneath them erupted into a frost-laden trench.
"So, you don't need a weapon to use the Wind of Indifference," Su Nan remarked calmly.
The cultist's body began to levitate, an eerie presence enveloping him. His demeanor changed, his voice no longer human.
"Su Nan Peter. We underestimated you," the being said coldly.
Su Nan recognized the tone instantly—it wasn't the cultist speaking, but a creature from the Energy World.
"I am the Blind Hand," it continued. "Unlike these pitiful humans, I don't need tools to wield the Wind of Indifference. You may have bested the Blind Nun, but that was merely a fragment of her power. This time, things will be different. These bloodline hosts are crafted specifically for our descent."
"I will eliminate you prematurely, mortal mage," the Blind Hand declared.
Behind the cultist, a glowing, magical hand materialized, pulsating with power.
The Blind Hand sneered. "Consider yourself fortunate. Dying now spares you the despair that awaits humanity."
"This timeline was already ours. It was only through interference from rogue wizards and celestial gods that the flow was altered twice. But it doesn't matter—you can't comprehend what you're truly up against."
"Wizard," it hissed, "meet your end."
Su Nan remained silent, carefully analyzing the being's words. He needed to extract as much information as possible. Every revelation about the Energy World was a step closer to unraveling its secrets.
But when the Blind Hand finally attacked, Su Nan acted swiftly. Using the Sacrificial Hand, he pulled a discarded knight's sword from the grass and, without hesitation, plunged it into Blom's heart.
The surge in magical energy was immediate, boosting Su Nan's telekinetic power to unprecedented levels.
"You seem to misunderstand," Su Nan said, raising his left hand. "Against me, you and this cultist are no different."
With his newfound strength, Su Nan grabbed the Blind Hand with telekinesis, slamming its possessed body into the ground repeatedly.
The Blind Hand tried to retaliate, sending a frost-laden wind spiral toward Blom. But Su Nan anticipated the move, releasing the sword and dodging just in time.
The battle continued in a flurry of attacks and counterattacks. Each time the Blind Hand launched its magic, Su Nan expertly evaded and retaliated, gradually wearing down its host body.
Finally, Su Nan took aim, firing an arrow directly at the creature's core.
The possessed body collapsed, and a fiery chain emerged from the void, binding the Blind Hand's spirit.
"I hate you, mortal mage," the Blind Hand snarled as its essence was dragged back into the void. "You haven't seen the last of me. I will return."
The cultist's body fell lifelessly to the ground.
Su Nan sighed, shaking his head. "They always say that."
The Intellect System chimed in: "Analysis complete. Recover the cultist's body. Integrating frost manipulation into the Death
Knight potion is now feasible."
"The Death Knight will wield both frost and death magic."
