Chapter 217: Chief_2

"In this way, even if the outer layer is breached, the inner layer can still provide protection."

Ron nodded to show understanding, but quickly analyzed the construction method of this structure in his mind.

This layered defense is not merely a simple stack; it's more like an organic cooperative system, with the layers supporting and complementing each other through specific energy channels.

"3rd Floor application, active counterattack."

Hayek's eyes flashed with sharpness, and dozens of spikes suddenly extended outward from the surface of the shield wall, resembling the defense mechanism of some dangerous creature.

"The shield wall shouldn't just be a passive defense; it can also serve as a means of attack.

When an enemy touches the shield wall, these spikes can immediately pierce into the opponent's body, injecting specific energy to cause internal damage."

As he explained, the spikes slowly retracted, merging back into the main body of the shield wall.

"4th Floor application—space distortion. This is more advanced, but since you're here, I might as well show it to you first."

Hayek concealed his inward impatience, eager to impart all his knowledge.

With another motion, the surface of the shield wall immediately produced strange fluctuations, as if the mirror had been distorted.

The entire shield wall seemed to become more three-dimensional, even giving an illusion of being larger than its actual size.

"This application requires a deep understanding of space magic. Through specific energy distribution, a weak spatial distortion field is formed around the shield wall. In this way, the enemy's attack can be partially guided to other spaces, reducing the pressure on the shield wall itself."

Ron's eyes squinted slightly; this was far beyond the common application range of a "flowing shield wall," almost transforming it into a small space magic.

He tried to record the energy structure but found its complexity approaching the limit of "Thousand Transformations."

Hayek seemingly unaware of Ron's attempt at recording, continued his demonstration:

"5th Floor application, perception extension."

Countless tiny points of light appeared on the surface of the shield wall, flickering like a starry sky.

"These points of light are actually the perception nodes of the shield wall, capable of capturing changes in the surrounding environment and the enemy's movements. In this way, you can not only defend passively but also proactively predict the enemy's attack routes."

He waved his hand lightly, and the shield wall immediately shrank back, reconsolidating into a cluster of silver powder that fell back into his palm.

"Of course, these are just basic applications."

Hayek returned to his seat, his gaze sharp as it rested on Ron:

"The real master can develop more unique variants of the 'flowing shield wall,' even forming a complete defense system of their own."

Ron nodded respectfully, his eyes flickering with thoughtful light:

"The Vice Dean's demonstration was greatly beneficial to me. I'm particularly interested in the applications of 'structural differentiation' and 'perception extension'; they seem to perfectly address the shortcomings in my current shield wall construction."

Hayek nodded satisfied, impressed by Ron's learning attitude and keen insight.

"Well then, let me explain the key points of these applications in detail."

Over the next two hours, Hayek elaborated on the advanced construction methods and theoretical foundations of the "flowing shield wall."

From principles of energy distribution, choices and ratios of different mediums, to how to adjust the structure and functions of the shield wall according to practical needs, all were filled with valuable information.

Ron listened with full concentration, occasionally asking sharp and in-depth questions, demonstrating an insight far beyond his peers.

Just as the lecture was nearing its end, Hayek suddenly changed the topic:

"By the way, I have good news to tell you."

Ron raised his eyebrows slightly, waiting calmly for what was next.

"Considering your recent excellent performance in various aspects, coupled with Master Valen's high evaluation, the school has decided to elevate your sequence ranking to the top position."

Ron was slightly stunned; although he had long anticipated that he would eventually obtain this position, he hadn't expected it to come so soon.

"It's my honor," he responded cautiously.

Hayek chuckled lightly, recalling the scene from not long ago at the sequence meeting.

.........

During the sequence meeting, when he proposed to elevate Ron to the top position, the entire meeting room fell into silence.

Holt sat at the head seat, his expression calm, but a hint of indescribable dimness flashed in his eyes.

As a genius who held the top position in the sequence for years, being suddenly surpassed by a newcomer who had only joined for a few months was a significant blow.

"Ralph indeed showed amazing talent and progress speed."

Yuni said calmly from the side, her purple eyes glimmering with agreement:

"His recent progress in elemental magic is remarkable, especially his almost Morning Star Level control over the Light Element."

Soron nodded in agreement:

"His Spiritual Power's improvement rate is far beyond ordinary, and his precision in magic construction is perfect, exceptionally rare among young Apprentices."

"I have no objections."

To everyone's surprise, Holt himself spoke calmly, without a trace of dissatisfaction or jealousy, only a sense of transcendent openness:

"Ralph is indeed worthy."

Hayek looked at this young Advanced Apprentice, feeling a trace of regret in his heart.

Holt's talent in the Black Mist School was considered top-notch, and his diligence unmatched.

If in normal times, with his aptitude and effort, he would definitely be a star of attention.
