Chapter 378: Destiny Bone Dice
Duke didn't know much about alchemy and couldn't determine what level the Tear of the Stars necklace could be crafted into as a witchcraft artifact, but at least among Level 1 Witchcraft Artifacts, it should be considered a good embryo.
Under Fus's gaze, he collected the necklace into his space ring without a change in his expression, completely ignoring Fus's resentful look.
This woman was indeed quite attractive, but don't think that just because of this, Duke would go soft-hearted; the benefits worth taking should not be reduced one bit.
After securing the Tear of the Stars necklace, Duke continued to let his eyes wander through the treasure trove.
His spiritual power had already been released to swiftly search for potentially valuable items.
Soon, his attention was drawn to an item placed alone on an obsidian base.
It was a dice, only the size of a fist and made entirely from an unknown dark yellow beast bone.
The six faces of the dice did not have the usual dots but were engraved with six extremely complex and distinct mysterious runes, as if possessing life, slowly shifting and transforming, emitting an incredibly ancient and chaotic aura.
Seeing Duke's interest in the peculiar dice, Fus came over: "This is the Destiny Bone Dice, a one-time-use item. It is said that every time you roll it, it summons any existence based on the manifesting rune..."
The Destiny Bone Dice is very peculiar; most of the time it summons harmless small animals, but occasionally it could be a devastatingly terrifying presence.
If lucky enough, one could form a summoning contract with the summoned life and gain a summoned beast.
However, such chances are very low; most times it would just be an ordinary toad or crow-like lifeform.
As for the devastatingly terrifying presence, it only exists in rumors; at least, Fus had never heard of anyone summoning such a terrifying presence.
Fus obtained this many years ago, but only kept it as a collector's item in the treasury without using it.
After all, in most cases, only ordinary small animals are summoned, and it would be a waste to use it.
Duke reached out and his fingertips lightly touched the cold bone dice.
In his perception, this item contained an exceptionally strange power, chaotic yet powerful, cleverly contained within this small dice.
Duke directly picked up the heavy Destiny Bone Dice from the base; it felt cool and heavy in his hand: "The second item, this one."
He planned to take a gamble and, after returning to the Wizard Plane, be fully prepared before using this thing to see if he could summon something interesting then.
After putting away the Destiny Bone Dice, Duke continued to browse through Fus's treasury, spotting many good items.
But the last item needed careful selection, preferably one that could compensate for some of his shortcomings and provide some practical usage.
Duke's gaze was locked on a seemingly ordinary and even somewhat worn leather mask.
This mask was extremely pale, without any carved features, smooth as an eggshell, with only slight wear marks on the edges.
The energy waves it emitted were so weak they were almost negligible; if not for Duke's keen perception, he would have thought it was just an ordinary prop.
But when he looked closely, he found that the blank mask seemed to be writhing extremely slowly and spontaneously, changing with extremely subtle textures, as if countless faces wanted to emerge from beneath, only to be forcibly suppressed.
Seeing that Duke actually noticed this item, Fus said, "Mr. Duke's perception is indeed keen, this is a good thing."
"What does this thing do?" Duke asked.
If it weren't for the previous promise to give Duke three items, Fus wouldn't bother to answer.
She wasn't stingy either; since the promise was made, she would stick to it and not hide anything.
"This is the Thousand Illusion Mask, it can seamlessly shape your facial features and body form as you wish, to even mimic an aura and soul fluctuation," Fus explained.
"So powerful?" Duke held up the mask for a closer look, finding that it seemed naturally formed and not like a man-made alchemy creation.
In terms of witchcraft artifact grades, it's unclassifiable, similar to the Yellow Sand Crystal, something produced in some special natural environment.
Duke picked up the lightweight mask, cool and flexible to the touch, like the skin of a living creature.
He could vaguely sense a special kind of power contained within, a type of energy he had never encountered before.
Duke then placed it over his face, and with a thought, his entire appearance began to change into that of an ordinary-looking man.
With another thought, his entire body size began to shrink, becoming shorter and thinner.
At this moment, Duke no longer bore any resemblance to his former self; even his aura and soul fluctuations had completely changed to those of another person.
"Not bad, but I wonder if this thing can hide from second or even third-level beings' probing," Duke thought to himself.
He was sure that, at least for a Level 1 Mage, this would be very hard to see through; even he could hardly discern this disguise.
As for higher level entities, that was uncertain, not having been tested yet.
"This will do," Duke's voice had completely changed as well.
If it weren't for Fus knowing the effect of the Thousand Illusion Mask, she might have thought the person before her wasn't Duke, with no resemblance apart from his attire.
These three items were treasures of Fus's treasury, all chosen by Duke.
Especially the necklace, it was something Fus truly loved, and now she could only part with it reluctantly.
Fus approached with bare feet, looking rather resentful: "Mr. Duke, your eyesight is really lacking, you didn't even see the greatest treasure in the treasury."
"The greatest treasure?" Duke's gaze involuntarily lowered a bit.
Fus blushed slightly, shyly turning her body, tightening her robe: "That's not it, a person is also in the treasury, isn't that considered a treasure?"
"How about this, I'll come back in the following days to continue healing you, and in return, you give me another chance to pick a treasure?" Duke also moved closer, embracing Fus almost entirely.
Fus chided coyly: "Healing? Mr. Duke, I'm very clear about my situation; I probably don't need healing anymore, and your method of healing..."
