On the other hand, meeting with a spy from the rebellion also posed great risk for Alonso.

After several turns, the carriage arrived in front of a low but heavily fortified building, next to the door of which were written in large letters 'Meister County Prison'.

After alighting from the carriage, Alonso was escorted to an office once the guards reported his arrival.

Before long, a middle-aged man dressed in the uniform of the prison guard captain appeared, followed by a trusted guard, and upon seeing Alonso, he revealed a slight smile.

He looked around the room to confirm that Alonso was alone and then instructed his trusted guard to stand by the door, warning that no one was to enter.

Immediately after, he closed the office door.

"Look who's here, none other than the distinguished Baron Alonso himself. Could it be that you've already decided to..." Magis said with a face full of smiles.

Alonso waved his hand dismissively and said, "Listen, Magis, to prove your strength, I need you to kill someone for me, a newly appointed Knight named Rein."

"If you can handle this, I might be able to help a little with the deal you mentioned last time."

Upon hearing Alonso's words, Magis looked visibly happier, which showed a noticeable softening in Alonso's attitude from before.

However, Magis suddenly found it odd, thinking that if the target was merely a new Knight, the Baron here would not have trouble dealing with him.

So, Magis, wary, asked, "Baron, is this Rein merely a new Knight?"

Alonso pondered for a moment and said, "This Rein is quite strong for his young age. I believe he now has at least the strength of a seasoned Knight."

"Oh? A seasoned Knight? Haha, a piece of cake. Don't worry, my Lord Alonso, we will take care of this." Having heard that the target was a seasoned Knight and not just any new Knight, Magis was relieved that they were being asked to intervene due to the target's commendable strength.

"Just don't forget what you promised us," Magis reminded.

"Of course!" Alonso stood up, ready to leave.

But just as he was standing up, he offered a reminder:

"Hmm? Killed a Black Flame Apostle? My Lord Alonso, are you sure it was an Apostle, not just a monk?" Magis's expression became serious, and he asked.

"Yes, it was an Apostle," Alonso nodded.

"That might indeed complicate things, requiring some effort, but no major issue." As a veteran who had been in Meister County for nearly two years, he naturally knew about the Black Flame Church and was aware of the strength varying among its different ranks.

"Speaking of which, there is another piece of news I should tell you. This Rein recently received outstanding marks in the Knighting Exam organized by Mingster Province a few days ago and was granted the title of Baron."

"Don't you always wish to weaken the Empire's power? This is a good opportunity to simultaneously eliminate a promising new Baron," added Alonso, thinking that to prevent any further complications, he should reveal Rein's latest status openly.

"What?" Magis's expression changed dramatically, and he couldn't help but exclaim.

"Lord Alonso, is there any other news you haven't fully shared with us?" Magis now looked at Alonso with suspicion, wondering what Alonso's true intentions were in approaching them.

It was unlike Alonso to trickle out information about the target, frustrating anyone to no end.

"That's all. Rein should currently be on his way back to Flashgold Town, coming from Rosby County," Alonso said.

"But as a sign of concern for our allies, I do hope you send capable people to handle this. Otherwise, if he gets a chance to grow further, he might become a major trouble for you later on," Alonso shrugged.

"Thank you for your concern, my Lord Alonso, please rest assured. If any problem arises, we will take responsibility for it," Magis said, somewhat relieved having heard there was no more news.

He had just felt that he had fallen into a trap set by Alonso, agreeing to the demand before being led by the nose, the difficulty of the task rising step by step.
