Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Apprentice War (Part 10)

Under the cover of night, black wizard apprentices silently advanced toward the white wizards' camp, while the latter remained blissfully unaware.

Gathered around campfires, they chatted about the future.

Then the spells struck.

Boom!

The sudden explosion of spells startled the apprentices, who leaped to their feet, looking toward the source of the noise.

Before they could comprehend what was happening, a barrage of spells rained down on them.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!" a white wizard apprentice shouted in panic.

The entire camp descended into chaos, the unexpected night raid leaving them bewildered and rushing toward the resource point.

"Rally! Don't panic!"

A loud voice boomed through the crowd. Greg rapidly expanded, transforming into a giant over three meters tall, with soil spreading across his body to form an earth elemental armor.

"Counterattack! All squad leaders, organize a counterattack! Anyone fleeing will be treated as deserters!"

Greg roared and charged toward the attackers.

The black wizard apprentices, cloaked in darkness, resembled grim reapers harvesting souls, but they hurriedly avoided Greg.

The gap between ordinary apprentices and top-tier ones wasn't something a single black wizard could bridge.

Greg's roar momentarily disoriented several black wizard apprentices. He stomped the ground, summoning stone spikes that pierced the stunned black wizards.

Greg's presence provided a semblance of calm for the white wizard apprentices; the reassurance of a powerful ally dispelled some of their fear.

"Gather up and show these black wizards what we're made of."

"Let them see the might of the white wizards!"

...

Squad leaders among the white wizards began organizing a counterattack, but soon witnessed a sight that sent shivers down their spines.

"I thought you were an extreme apprentice, but you're just a senior apprentice with a bloodline fusion."

Aldo's soul fire flickered in his eyes as two undead creatures, resembling canine skeletons, emerged from the woods, harassing Greg. Each attack stripped away chunks of his armor.

In addition to these undead, a terrifying skeletal serpent over ten meters long slithered from the forest, heading straight for the camp.

"Target fifty meters ahead, prepare Fireball!"

A squad leader issued a command, but before the apprentices could cast, the serpent disrupted their formation, its bony spikes leaving them bloodied.

The white apprentices attempted a counterattack, but the serpent's body seemed as solid as iron. Their spells at best left shallow scratches, and the weaker ones merely scorched its surface.

"Damn it!"

Greg wanted to assist, but the two undead kept him pinned. Any slip-up would allow Aldo and his minions to tear him apart.

"You're still too green compared to Keeper Academy."

Aldo laughed wickedly, watching the white apprentices get slaughtered. Without formation or command, ordinary black wizard apprentices were far superior to their white counterparts, leaving the latter no choice but to flee.

The same held true for Frostwind Academy and Aurora Academy.

"Today, I offer eighty-eight heads to my Lord to cleanse the stain of today's defeat."

Anderson shouted fervently, his sword claiming one white apprentice's life after another.

Nearby, Void Academy's black wizards continued to reap the lives of Aurora Academy's white apprentices.

As Aurora Academy's representative, Menasi had to step up and boost his side's morale.

"A fanatic, I never thought I'd encounter one like you."

Menasi's soul fire flared, resembling two blazing torches.

Gripping a bone staff, he summoned a three-meter-tall skeletal general clad in alchemical armor, looking imposing.

"A necromancer? I should've let Annihilation Academy handle this," Anderson grumbled at the skeletal general.

Lacking flesh and blood, it couldn't offer him any enhancement.

"After a defeat, instead of fortifying defenses, are you black wizards stupid?"

Menasi maneuvered the skeletal general toward Anderson, any black wizards it touched instantly withering into dried husks.

"A defeat?" Anderson sneered. "What does Keeper Academy's prowess have to do with Aurora Academy?"

With that, Anderson drew another longsword from his magic pouch. Armed with dual swords, his demeanor transformed once more. His gaze toward Menasi was steady, as if assessing a dead man or a seasoned swordmaster appraising a challenger.

"False Persona!" Menasi recognized Anderson's technique, his soul fire leaping.

"Aren't you afraid of being overtaken by the false persona, never to return?"

Anderson raised his swords, tracing a cross in the air.

"I've given my body and soul to my Lord, and I have no regrets, even in death."

"Madman!"

Menasi cursed, dividing his focus between controlling the skeletal general and using necromancy to harass Anderson.

He knew relying solely on the skeletal general would lead to his demise.

Clang! Clang! Clang...

The skeletal general's bone blade clashed with Anderson's dual swords, sparks flying and bone fragments scattering in the forest.

In his swordmaster mode, Anderson's every strike was a masterpiece, embodying countless indigenous masters' secrets. If not for the skeletal general's lack of vital points, Anderson would have pierced its heart, organs, and brain by now.

Menasi struggled to control the general, as Anderson seemed to have discerned his habits, making his attacks increasingly effective.

If he couldn't find a way to counter Anderson soon, he'd have to flee.

The gap between top-tier white and black wizard apprentices wasn't as vast as among ordinary apprentices, but it was still significant.

"Damn, we'll have to rely on Keeper Academy." Menasi sighed internally.

At the onset of the raid, he'd sent an apprentice to seek Keeper Academy's aid.

Having been tempered by fire and blood, Keeper Academy's apprentices were far superior in combat to those of Aurora and Frostwind Academies.

Both academies had only brought half their apprentices. Suddenly attacked by two black wizard academies, they could only count on Keeper Academy.

...

Resource point, meeting room.

"You're saying the black wizards launched a night raid?" Orey asked a reporting apprentice gravely. "Are you sure both black wizard academies are involved?"

The messenger apprentice nodded vigorously.

"I'm certain! Both we and Frostwind Academy were attacked. Over there, a necromancer revived three undead—two wolves and a serpent—exactly like what you described from Annihilation Academy."

"Alright, I understand. Keeper Academy will assist."

Orey waved the apprentice away.

"Everyone, I have a plan." Orey leaned on the table, his gaze sharp as a blade.

"I want to annihilate these black wizards!"

The other senior apprentices were stunned, looking at Orey as if he were mad.

"What's your plan?" Bartolas rubbed his temples. As Orey's old rival, he knew Orey's arrogance was usually backed by substance.

"We have around seven hundred apprentices, with about six hundred combat-ready," Orey said, sketching a map on the table with tea.

"I plan to divide them into three groups: two to cut off the black wizards' retreat, one to support our allies."

"Two hundred for support?" an apprentice frowned. "Isn't that too few?"

Orey nodded. "It's a bit tight, but remember, we're not supporting ordinary people.

They're white wizard apprentices like us. We just need to help them stabilize; they can handle the counterattack themselves."

"Besides," Orey paused, "the other four hundred won't be idle. They can flank from behind."

"A bold plan," Bartolas commented flatly. "But it's a risk worth taking."

If things went as Orey envisioned, this war would be over.

With only one remaining black wizard academy, they couldn't possibly withstand the three-thousand-strong white wizard apprentice alliance.

The senior apprentices exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.

"Then it's settled. Gather the apprentices immediately: four hundred to flank, two hundred to battle with me."

Orey stood tall, a hint of madness in his smile.

It was time to erase the disgrace.

...

In the sky, Richard watched as the white wizard apprentices divided into three formations. Two moved out to the flanks, while one headed for the two academies' camps.

"Damn, they're going to encircle them."

Richard realized Orey's plan at once.

A double envelopment to end the war swiftly—Keeper Academy's commander had a large appetite.

"Will I let you have your way?"

Richard switched perspectives, leaving his room to rally the apprentices.

"Assemble! Assemble!"

During wartime, few apprentices chose to meditate, so Richard quickly gathered nearly two hundred.

"Void and Annihilation Academies are in danger."

Richard wasted no time, outlining the current situation.

"Keeper Academy, whom we defeated, is collaborating with two other academies to encircle and annihilate Void and Annihilation. We need to support them.

You have five minutes to prepare. After that, we'll have a tough battle.

The white wizards have begun organized warfare. We must treat this fight with utmost seriousness, no underestimation!"

The black wizards exchanged glances, with no protests or questions, promptly preparing for the upcoming battle.

Richard's reasoning was sound. If Annihilation and Void were annihilated, this war was essentially over.

If other black wizard territories also faced issues, the only outcome would be a bloody academy exam.

Fighting the white wizards was preferable to scheming against classmates in the exam.

Five minutes later, the apprentices were ready.

Richard counted them, ensuring the number stayed at two hundred, then led them toward the battlefield.

...

The white wizards' camp was ablaze with battle.

Greg was entangled with Aldo's undead hounds, unable to break free. Though Frostwind Academy's apprentices resisted, the undead serpent constantly disrupted their formations, causing significant losses.

Meanwhile, Anderson's swords nearly dismantled the skeletal general, with Menasi's magical interference failing to prevent its collapse.

It seemed too late.

"Allies of Aurora Academy, Keeper Academy is here to support!"

A loud shout echoed through the camp, accompanied by the hallmark of a white wizard corps—spell torrents.

Dozens of purple lightning bolts shot from staves, instantly reducing two black wizards to charred remains.

Seeing the white wizard corps arriving, the black apprentices retreated.

They weren't foolish; fighting inexperienced white wizards was one thing, but they dared not provoke the organized corps.

Orey, overseeing the battle, smirked.

Escape? Do you think you can?

"Twelve o'clock, distance 250, left ten, Spiral Ice Spikes, prepare!"

Orey commanded, and thirty spiral ice spikes appeared beside the spell-casting apprentices, targeting Anderson engaged with the skeletal general.

"Fire!"

In an instant, thirty ice spikes, trailing icy mist, shot toward Anderson with lightning speed.

Anderson showed no expression, his dual swords weaving a barrier that deflected the ice spikes effortlessly.

But only Anderson knew his arms trembled slightly.

His body was nearing its limit.

"Retreat!"

Anderson ordered, turning to flee into the forest.

Orey didn't pursue, redirecting his forces to support Frostwind Academy and summoning Menasi.

"Menasi, I have a plan. I need Aurora Academy's apprentices to assist."

Menasi's soul fire flickered. "What's the plan? How can we help?"

"I plan to annihilate these black wizards, so I need you to rally your apprentices and press these fleeing black wizards with me."

Orey added,

"You don't need to engage directly, just intimidate them."

"Alright." Menasi agreed without hesitation, his soul fire flaring brightly.

"Aurora Wizard Academy's apprentices will fully cooperate with you!"
