Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 28 The Corrupted Blood and Flesh Court

Having formed an idea, Richard's approach to dealing with this creature naturally changed.

Since the creature was able to emanate spiritual waves, it meant that the creature had a soul. And the presence of a soul meant it could be tamed.

As a Wizard, Richard knew of no less than nine methods for enslaving creatures.

However, these methods were intended for ordinary creatures, and he had never heard of anyone enslaving a Gestalt Creature.

Looking at the smoke before him, Richard thought it over and decided to not take any action for the time being. There was no use for this thing in battle, and the priority could be put off until later. Once he became a Divine being and made contact with the Wizard World, it wouldn't be too late to tame it.

"Main control, reseal it."

"Yes, Lord Richard."

After checking the warehouse, Richard pulled up some of the research results from the laboratory. Most of these results were related to biological modifications, but there was also some research on special rules.

The Pioneers believed the energy environment of this world was active, which was a special rule in itself. So, they conducted research on this rule.

According to the database, they had discovered the way in, but they disappeared before they could delve deeper into the research.

As a Wizard, Richard felt an indescribable sentiment when looking at these incomplete studies.

As a fellow researcher, he could feel the "warmth" of the Pioneers from between the lines of the research materials. What he was looking at now was not just research, but a legacy that had spanned a million years.

Richard slipped the Crystal Screen containing the data into his pocket.

"Ah, I'll take over the unfinished work for you."

...

Leaving the laboratory, Richard found the Great Shepherd of the Lord of Flesh Church, who had been so fooled by Ulysses that he couldn't tell which way was north.

As the leader of one of the two major churches in the goblin world, the Great Shepherd was utterly defeated under Ulysses' smooth talk. In just a few days, he had accepted the reality that Richard was the Sage sent by the Divine to save them.

Unfortunately, as a church whose leaders had always tried to enter the Divine Palace, it was difficult for them to adopt the attitude of the Master of All Machines Church, which saw the Divine as a joke.

"Great Shepherd, it seems you have been converted to the righteous path."

In front of the Divine Statue, the Great Shepherd opened his eyes and turned to bow deeply to Richard.

"Master Sage, please don't joke with me anymore. You can simply call me Frank."

Richard was slightly surprised by the devoutness of the man before him. In just the three days since he had checked the data, Frank had become a devout believer.

"You've finally come out."

Ulysses' voice came from behind Richard, and then he landed on Richard's left shoulder.

"We're probably in for big trouble this time."

"Big trouble?" Richard turned to look at his capable assistant, "Could it be that the Abyss Demons have already broken their Sealing?"

"Not yet, but I wish they had. Because the situation is even worse."

"Worse!?"

Richard's voice sharply rose. Could there be something even more terrifying than Abyss Demons in this world?

"Yes, worse," sighed Ulysses. "Even though the Abyss Demons haven't broken the Sealing, their Erosion has already begun in this world. According to Frank, corruption has appeared within the Royal Court, and the Flesh God King sitting on the throne has been forced into slumber due to the Erosion.

Alas, I estimate that the World Master is almost completely Eroded. When he wakes up, that will be the beginning of the Abyssal war."

"The Divine King has been Eroded!?"

Ulysses' news was like a bombshell, instantly scattering Richard's thoughts.

He knew the Abyss could Erode the environment, creatures, and even the Power of World Origin. However, he had never considered that the Abyss could Erode the World Master as well.

"Don't look so shocked. It's common for World Masters to be Eroded by the Abyss," Ulysses responded. "The Abyss can Erode worlds, after all, so what is a World Master to it?

At the beginning of the war, some Main Gods from our side even defected due to Abyss Erosion."

"How did you deal with it?"

Richard hurriedly asked, knowing that the World Master already had the support of the Power of World Origin. If you added the amplification of the Abyss, he couldn't imagine how formidable his fighting strength would be.

"How else could we deal with it? We had to resist it with Divine Arts," Ulysses said helplessly. "The Divine King created a Divine Art that allowed us to resist Abyss Erosion by continuously supplying the Power of Faith."

"Couldn't it be expelled?" Richard noted that Ulysses used the word "resist" rather than "expel," casting a shadow over his heart.

Ulysses shook his head: "It couldn't be expelled, at least not below the level of Divine King. But you don't have to worry too much. Because the rule of the Abyss is survival of the fittest, if you can withstand the Erosion, then the Abyss can be used by you.

Many of our Gods of War intentionally infect themselves with the Abyss, and then use Divine Arts to fight the Erosion, thereby harnessing the power of the Abyss."

"Ah? That's possible?"

Richard was somewhat confused. Logically, shouldn't this be something like a lingering injury?

"Don't think of the Abyss as too evil," Ulysses said with the tone of a calm and convincing scholar. "The Abyss is a rule, a power, a system. It doesn't have consciousness as we commonly understand it, nor does it have our notions of good and evil. Just as you can't call a certain Element or Energy evil."

But just as Ulysses finished speaking, he shifted the topic abruptly.

"Of course, this doesn't change the fact that Abyss Demons are a bunch of bastards. So we better get ready, do you have any thoughts on performing a great deed?"

Richard shook his head slightly and sighed, "I have some thoughts, but either they're not mature enough, or they can't be considered great deeds.

Honestly, has anyone ever actually completed this ritual?"

"Of course," replied Ulysses with a touch of dissatisfaction, "Do you think I would set you up?"

Curious, Richard asked, "What did he do? Maybe I can take some reference?"

Ulysses paused to recall and said, "It might be hard for you to reference. That guy was named Magellan, a very ordinary captain. Before becoming a Divine, he wasn't even a Level 1 Creature."

Richard's eyes widened slightly.

"What did he do?"

"He drew a detailed Four Seas Map in a small world full of islands, using only his Magic Wind Sail Ship."

Richard was stunned.

"How is that possible? He wasn't even a Level 1 Creature!"

Ulysses replied softly, "But he did it. Magellan died not long after completing the map, but his deeds spread far and wide. People used his maps to navigate the entire world and proved the maps' authenticity.

In the process, the collective consciousness gradually shifted. The moment it was reversed, his Undead spirit attained divinity as well."

Richard was dazed for a moment, then realized a problem.

"What about the Church? He didn't establish a religion!"

Ulysses said indifferently, "Magellan indeed had no religion, but after his deeds were told, all the sailors and even merchants in that world began to worship him spontaneously.

It was a primitive form of idol-worship, but the Power of Faith they generated was in no way fake."

"…Are there any other deeds?"

"No," Ulysses shook his head slightly, "In fact, this ritual was created based on the deeds of Magellan. After the Divine King understood the logic behind it, he created this ceremony. However, no one in our place has ever succeeded on this path.

The closest one was a guy who, on his own, led a small country to conquer an entire small world. But before he could fully conquer the world, he became the God of War through the regular ceremony."

Ulysses' words made Richard feel completely numb.

How could he compare to such formidable people?

But once the numbness passed, Richard had no choice but to face reality. He took a deep breath and suddenly thought of an issue.

"Would becoming a Sage be considered as outsmarting oneself? With my status, even the greatest deed would be taken for granted, wouldn't it?"

Ulysses looked at Richard like he was looking at an idiot.

"When you perform great deeds, won't you hide your identity? You don't need to leave a name, just a definite image is enough to complete the ceremony. Moreover, the identity of a Sage can be surprisingly effective at certain times."

"Surprisingly effective?"

Ulysses gave a mysterious smile and muttered somewhat cryptically, "When the glory of the Gods is obscured, the brilliance of man shines even brighter."

The Divine Palace Laboratory's knowledge was quite extensive and included a lot of fundamental knowledge. Because of this foundational knowledge, Richard absorbed the information very quickly.

In just six months, a mere half a year, Richard absorbed all the knowledge on biological modification he had come across.

With the help of these essences of knowledge, Richard could say without modesty that he was absolutely a master in the field of biological modification.

Even an ordinary Great Wizard couldn't compare with him.

After absorbing this knowledge, Richard immediately began modifying his own body.

With the help of various devices in the Divine Palace Laboratory, it took Richard only three days to perform a comprehensive upgrade on his internal organs and glands. After the upgrade, Richard's physical data improved once again. Without becoming a World Master, this kind of enhancement was nothing short of miraculous.

Furthermore, he made improvements to the Transformation Surgery for Miracle Monks. The new version of the surgery added a procedure and changed the cultivation of certain glands.

This further enhanced the combat power of the Miracle Monks.

In a battlefield of kings against kings, soldiers against soldiers, if the high-end power cannot absolutely overpower, then the low-end power must be enhanced.

Not to mention, they were facing Abyss Demons. If this Race wasn't dealt with and the Abyss was allowed to erode unchecked, defeat on higher levels of the battlefield would be inevitable.

During this time, under the leadership of the Great Shepherd, the Miracle Sect successfully took root in the Blood and Flesh Court. And with the help of the Miracle Monks, those widespread Abyss Sects were being wiped out one after another.

The number of believers of the Blood and Flesh Court also shot up rapidly during this process.

However, not that Ulysses couldn't inform Richard of other Promotion Ceremonies; with the number of believers he now had, he was almost ready to undergo the Deification Ceremony, or rather, the Descending God Ceremony.

But fate is never plain sailing.

As the Miracle Sect marched triumphantly, the core of the Blood and Flesh Court, a carriage covered in tattered flesh, burst through the gates of the Royal Capital.
