Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 100: First Battle

Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap...

Orderly footsteps echoed in the reinforcement square as Abyss Demons dressed in Alchemy Armor marched out in neat queues from the Transport AAirship through the expansive Teleportation Gate.

Although Abyss Demons are inherently chaotic, that is their nature when unrestrained.

Once what they are constrained by a higher-ranking demon, Abyss Demons can exhibit astounding discipline.

Certainly, even if their individual qualities fall short, the Deputy Legion Commander of the Demon Army would use mind control to instill discipline in them.

Seeing these Abyss Demons towering over three meters tall, with Life Radiation as fierce as a furnace, the Great Wizard of Absolute Zero felt somewhat relieved.

"With the strength of this legion, it is enough to serve as the vanguard."

Though questioning the Crown Throne's decisions is extremely offensive and incredibly foolish.

Yet Richard's overly young age made it hard not to feel concerned.

But from what he could see now, his worries were clearly unnecessary. Those who can become a Wizard of the Crown Throne are naturally not ones prone to reckless ambition.

After disembarking from the Transport AAirship, the Abyss Army didn't linger at the base and immediately boarded the War AAirship to head to their designated war zone.

However, their Legion Commander did not leave with them.

"Hey, Great Wizard over there, where is Lord Richard?"

Ista greeted the Great Wizard of Absolute Zero, his imposing aura causing the latter to squint slightly.

"You wish to meet the Crown Throne?"

"Yes."

Scanning the Great Wizard before him, a sense of dread flashed in Ista's mind. His instincts told him that this Great Wizard was definitely not to be trifled with.

"Can you take me to him, Great Wizard?" Ista asked with a smile.

"Please wait for a moment."

The Great Wizard of Absolute Zero took out the Crystal Ball and contacted Richard.

"Absolute Zero, what do you need?"

"My lord, someone from the Abyss wishes to see you."

"To see me? Let him come over."

The Great Wizard of Absolute Zero switched the communication to video, and Richard's tall figure appeared in the air through the projection of the Crystal Ball.

"Ista, what's the matter?"

Upon seeing Richard, Ista immediately bent over, humbly smiling and saying, "It's nothing serious, I mainly want to inquire about the Abyss Transformation and command issues."

"Abyss Transformation is unrestricted, command follows orders from the main command center," Richard replied faintly.

"Unrestricted?"

Ista was slightly taken aback, feeling as though he had misheard.

How could Abyss Transformation be unrestricted? Is there something secret in this world that can hinder Abyss Transformation?

"Unrestricted means unrestricted; do you have any questions?"

Richard's voice turned cold, startling Ista into responding loudly, "No problem, I will head to the frontline right away."

"By the way, your Abyssal Architecture can also be constructed. Let the architects and wizards exchange ideas and see if they can create something new."

Upon hearing this request, Ista's body suddenly stiffened.

"My lord, this pertains to technology exchange, and the content of the transaction hasn't... "

Before Ista could finish, Richard interrupted him with a firm voice.

"Your superior is me; if you listen to me, I guarantee your safety. If you don't, you would better pray the Galaxy Mayflies will take it lightly because you are an Abyss Demon."

Suddenly, a vortex appeared in the Void.

A drop of black blood fell from the vortex onto Ista's face, and then, as if it had its own Life Energy, it drilled its way into his body.

Upon perceiving the information within the blood, Ista's attitude made a one hundred and eighty-degree shift instantly.

"Yes, I understand! I assure you the Demon Craftsmen will be cooperative!"

After ending the communication, Ista straightened his back, and his obsequious smile returned to a former calm.

"Since Lord Richard commands so, I will head to the frontline at once. Great Wizard, I hope our cooperation in this war will be pleasant."

The Great Wizard of Absolute Zero paused for a moment before shaking hands with Ista.

"Pleasant cooperation, Abyss Demon."

...

"Oh my, this is the Abyss Demon?"

In the Wizard's team, Asu gazed at the arriving Abyss Demon Army, a hint of fighting spirit flickered in his eyes.

He could tell these demons would undoubtedly be a good opponent.

But before he could say more, a hand slapped his back.

"Don't think about fighting; we are here for technology exchange."

Gao Wen's eyes swept over those Abyss Demons, the Power of Abyss on their bodies made him instinctively repulse.

In this war that was gradually escalating, the iteration speed among wizards was astonishingly fast.

And as someone who has survived on the frontline battlefield for half a year without suffering severe injuries, Gao Wen felt honored to be selected as one of the first wizards to engage in technology exchange with the Abyss Demons.

The task given to them was simple: to combine Alchemy Technology with Abyssal Technologies as much as possible, creating tools more suited for the battlefield.

But honestly, Gao Wen considered himself to be chosen was indeed a mistake.

He was a new wizard, having only learned the most basic theories of Alchemy, some advanced Alchemy, and the Comprehensive Alchemy for the Battlefield, which is said to be easy enough for monkeys to learn.

It was truly asking too much of him to do technology exchange.

Fortunately, there were many wizards in this exchange, including some fossil-like old wizards who had been Three Rings since the beginning of civilized warfare.

He could just fish around as a small fry on the side.

The crowd suddenly began to move, and the Great Wizard of the war zone had already met with Ista, marking the official start of the exchange meeting.

"Let's go, Asu. Let's go and have a dialogue with these Abyss Demons."

...

"My lord, this is our attack plan."

In the main command center, Richard glanced briefly at the plan delivered by the Great Wizard of Absolute Zero.

The strategic objective of this plan was very conservative, with the final goal being merely a medium-sized Earth Vein Node. However, as a local battle, this strategic goal had already reached a passing grade.

Moreover, this was the first time Abyss Demons were cooperating with Wizards, so keeping the plan conservative was beneficial for both sides to get accustomed to each other.

Even if it failed, the loss wouldn't be severe.

"Alright, let's do it this way."

"Yes, Crown Throne Lord. Also, the item you requested has arrived."

The Great Wizard of Absolute Zero showed a hint of reverence in his eyes. The item that Richard needed was personally handled by him. The standard Sixth Level Sealing it required indicated that the item inside had reached the Life Energy level of Level 6 and possessed extremely powerful extraordinary characteristics.

Otherwise, ordinary flesh of Level 6 Creatures would at most require a Fifth Level Sealing.

And notably, the label on the delivery box for the item was surprisingly 'food materials.'

Laughably, if the item in that box broke free of its seal, he might not even stand a chance against it.

"Oh? It's already here?" Richard's face lit up, "Has the Cancer of Flesh arrived so soon?"

The item the Great Wizard of Absolute Zero handed over was what Richard had seen during the Academy War, in the World Mirror — the Cancer of Flesh.

The thing, with its abundant life energy, was ideal nutrient for Richard's recovery. Moreover, its Mutated Rules also served as excellent research material for Richard.

After that meeting, Richard had sent a request to have the Cancer of Flesh delivered to him.

Unexpectedly, it arrived in under a month.

"Yes, my lord, it has been delivered." The Great Wizard of Absolute Zero replied respectfully,

"Then bring it over," Richard said, a hint of eagerness in his eyes, "Notify everyone in the main command center, as well as the subordinate command centers, that today's special dish will be roasted Cancer of Flesh."

...

Rumble!

The loud booming sound of spells continuously echoed across the battlefield.

At the forefront of the formation, Abyss Demons wearing Alchemy Armor, holding Enchanted Shields and Instant Death Swords, blocked the Insect Tide like a wall.

Behind them, Wizards donned Alchemy Power Armor and kept firing from their portable gun towers.

"Frontline demons, watch your defense, the Barrier Disintegration Bomb will arrive on the battlefield in three seconds."

The demons heard the cold reminder from the Wizards, followed by a projectile, streamlined like a meteor, launched from the Wizard Fortress in the rear.

"Oh ho! Defense! Get ready for a big meal!"

The Abyss Demons let out cheers akin to the roars of evil ghosts, then huddled their bodies under the Alchemy Shield.

The next moment, the Barrier Disintegration Bomb exploded on the Legion Shield, shattering the entire shield of the Galaxy Mayfly Legion like porcelain.

Though for the frontline Wizards, the concept of attacking was unfamiliar.

In the rear at the Tesla Research Institute, however, how to attack had always been a major topic.

To break the Legion Shield and free warfare from linear bombardments, the Tesla Research Institute had devised many types of weapons.

Now, as the Wizards' situation slowly improved, aided by technology from the previous civilization, these weapons had begun limited production.

As the barrier shattered, the Wizards' Legion Witchcraft communal attack followed closely.

Accompanied by a thunderous explosion, millions of mayflies were incinerated into ashes by Molten Rock Meteors.

The Abyss Demons charged forward, roaring, even as they were run through by the sharp horns of the Horned Mayflies. They would then pierce the heads of the Horned Mayflies with their Instant Death Swords and continue their charge.

And as the Horned Mayfly swarm was penetrated, the last defense of the Earth Vein Node was declared over.

The Legion Commander, holding the Crystal Ball, exuded excitement in his voice: "Report to headquarters, Small Earth Vein Node number three has been breached."

"Gao Wen, where are you? Quickly come and set up the Magic Array inside the node!"

As the Legion Commander was reporting the news, the Alchemy Wizards within the legion were hurriedly conducting emergency engineering work at the Earth Vein Node.

It wouldn't be long before the counterattack from the Galaxy Mayflies arrived; they had to set up the Magic Array within the limited time available and assist the Demon Craftsmen in building the Demon Nest.

"Stop rushing me, I'm fixing the armor!"

Cried Gao Wen, his hands working even faster to fix the armor.

The stability issue with portable Alchemy Gun Towers still hadn't been resolved; even with high-frequency usage, the Alchemy Gun Towers were prone to meltdown and chamber explosions.

Metal ingots changed shape constantly in Gao Wen's hands and soon took the form of an outer armor shell.

He placed this shell over the damaged part of the armor; with a flash from his hand, it merged with the armor.

"Asu, this will have to do for now."

In front of Gao Wen, the aura of the Wild Beastman Asu seemed somewhat weakened. Where Gao Wen had just repaired, a Concentrated Energy Beam from a Galaxy Mayfly had pierced him, leaving a fist-sized through-and-through wound on his left abdomen.

Asu got up, a carefree smile on his face.

"Mind your own business, boss. It's just a small hole. Remember, I've lost half my body before yet I'm still alive today."

Inside the helmet, the urging from the engineering team came again.

Gao Wen sighed and said softly, "Be smart when the bugs come later."

With that, he flew towards the inside of the node.

...

In the main command center, Richard munched on roasted Cancer of Flesh while reviewing the battle reports from the front line.

[Small Node 3 breached, total force of 30,000 elite Wizards, 50,000 Demon Army. Losses: 3,762 Wizards, 13,500 Demons, 32,500 Clansmen. About 18 million enemies killed...]

Swallowing his last bite of roast meat, Richard calmly commented:

"Not a bad victory indeed."
