Chapter 139: 135 Coral reef tangent
The family took into the water, with only death looking back. He looked back baffled, and likely because she has so much time and existence that it made no sense of her leave. All that talk of running out of time, energy and connection. Sadly he isn't his title at this moment and couldn't know things ahead. As they been disconnected long enough. She lays along the tree trunk, knee draw in and face leaned eyeing the waters pattern. Lost in her mind. She looked in how there isn't single moon at all. It was thrashing pink foam and restless water. The murky water kicking so much. The black blue spraying of blood and flesh fish chucks feed the things that crawl this shoreline. The very thrashing and eerier soul screams break the water.
"Page 93 is a diagram that I am expecting everyone to have traced into your exorcize books. You are to memorizes the measurements for your final exams." Science class about sound waves, befitting of her awareness to the way energy and magic ability changes energy are. There is also the page over about light spectrum and further types of energy. Everyone is head down drawing these. Ruler and all. Given her hands and sleeves of a uniform. She is a young student. Secondary school. She had pen ink reminder of homework and a pen mark about lunch money.
Without much bother, she did exactly as asked. Taking from the stationary table middle and began focus of as perfect clean note making as possible. She wrote in full explanations from the questions on page underneath, using the textbooks understanding of the concept. Although time paused around; the sounds of a demon and angel argue about a task at the desk over.
She uses time pause to peer back her notes and neat them. Corrected her spelling errors and just everything. She made her whole book fresh and depth of someone that finished college level sceince. She was even hints uni level context. As time pulls back, she was colour cordinating her pages with highlight pens and back of book glossary. It was nothing of the quality she was before now.
"Freak." paper ball thrown and missed with her soft side pose. It flung past to the teachers thigh that instantly knew.
"Miss Fallown if your having issue spelling. You are to ask, but not in disturbing my talneted students."
"Wouldn't x ray on your white board diagram be the other side?" She posed asking while back tone her lacking interest of being scolded and the teacher turned red in being smart mouthed. Yet with turning to check, "Sorry for disturbing. I was just reading the level 9 textbook about radation, conduction and convection. Pondering the wave form of energy during such molculor examples." the teacher jolts forwards at looking at her blank, "I don't think the equations of heat conductivity by the jole with be in the exam."
"It will be but that is next years topic." She shurgs at that and head back down at writing the exact equation right then in a fourth exrosize book. The stake of finished ones piled her front and the levels 5 through 12 text books open around her. She is completely taken the table as she was seated by herself to not disturb the class, "What are you doing?"
"I had finished the task you set, and the last parts of your current lesson plan. I wasn't going to waste my time or yours with sitting doing nothing. Nor would I want to spoil everyone else's fun of learning. Making to my own study to topics I am happy to revisit with you in your 3 years worth of classes. That is unless you stop teaching bottom layer students." He stared beyond fuming of her attitude. He had nothing to say, posed that she was to leave. She pushed all the textbooks to a pile and carries them all the same out the class door. Never looking back.
"Thanks for lending me the textbooks." She returns them in the sceince staff room on the way past, speaking to the technician that gave them in the frist place. The tech looking at how mad the teacher is of her and his exiting the classroom for a breather. Having to fill in while the man cooled off. Picked up the class with correcting the diagram on the whiteboard and asking the student appriorate learning questions of the topic. With the ring of the bell she was at hovering of the next class. Reflective of her current body, the present memories and the seemingly random return among existing.
"Homework?" The english teacher displeased of seeing her, she definitely a got that reputation of being a trouble child with learning difficualty. She rolls her backpack and removed a file organiser. In pinching the pages, time glitched and marked the pages accordingly. Entire assignments of 2000 words. Three question answers about books they study in class. The most important homework that is course work completed... when it has even yet to be handed to the students. Even so, as she did with the science department. She went to the English teacher lounge and obtained the work before everyone - as she legally qualified for extra exam time to make up for her short fall of ability. Its all handed in, clip and marked by other teachers on sticky notes. She really worked hard. And it was taken with ignoring the quality.
"Are we reading Lord of the Flies again?" She asks calm. The teacher turned back in with placing it to the desk. Leana's shadow stole back the whole stack, as it was just tossed to the desk to be ignored. The teacher like others are uninterested in helping her make the mark when other students needed that extra push for making it easier to that grading boundary. The teacher returns back to the door, book and class work pages presented.
"You're going to learning support." She nods accepting this and without being in the way of her class finally arriving it. Gossip whispers. A demon took note in hearing the students. Watching her back disappearing the distance against the crowds. He turned at the teacher sighed in relief of her gone and getting everyone else seated. Stared at the yellow printed versoins that she was meant to receive instead. Hissed of this mistake, stands to check that she was gone or not.
"I will take them." the demon in teaching assitant unifrom.
"Were you meant to be in my class?"
"I was assigned to her. You sent her away now. So I am not now." Taking the pages and the teacher sighed in fusteration of liking some back up, "I can send her back to your class and us join."
"No. I heard from John that she was making disruptions. I don't have time for it. Not this soon to exams." The demon nods at that and leaves. The loud exclaim of setting the class ready for reading wasn't getting anywhere. Not mattering that Leana was in the class or not. In fact her abance was the reason of the gossiping and the sudden notice of her being different today. They all have observed her having a changed demenour and complete changed accent. Someone even said the textbooks appearing from her backpack was like watching magic. Another after another. Plus a dictionary. The teacher had to wait for them, taking away their free time to make up for wasting time now.
"Sorry to be a bother. May I sit at that desk?" She speaks to the staff in the library which is also the learn support department. The librarian waved in needing a teachers note at frist but then looked at Leana. Posed hand that she just goes sit down. Makes an internal call at the desk phone to have her registered at the deparment and report in with knowing the english teacher kicked her out.
The demon in assitant teaching unifrom enters and the librarn posed with putting down the desk phone. He sits at her table. The desk a stack and spray of all the learning material for the whole English study. Her use of a yellow plastic slider to keep her track reading on white paper The sheer stare of all nine exam books for the national grading. Everyone marked with paper stick its. A stack of finished clean notes. He began going through it all. It was reading teacher's notes in her hand writing. In fact, her writing was practice, clean and easier reading. The more recent notes in the grading matrix for college level grades was the highlight of disbelief. The slow placing down, and going to meet gaze.
"Really at this point, what are you going to report to them?" She puts down the pen and stopping the current work. Gaze met with the real eyes and not the host human teacher. She leans with a very tired worn expression. The demon has another sweep across the table with peering at the papers.
"Transfer you to a better school free of charge. Not a speical needs one either." Takes phone from breast pocket and got up, "The worst student from the freshmens has turned out to be abnormal. I will assume she lives up to her American family of Supernatural phenomenon hunters. Ever since the time jolt, she completely different." The light pause and the nervous stare of knowing she is overhearing it all.
"Send well wishes to the boss from Nocturm." She finger guns and the sound of clatter by the receiver losing their phone was evident. Equally the demon before her also was dropped Kneeling with cold sweat. She reached over and hand soft back slaps the guy for acting abnormal. He shivered getting back up properly. He jolted back up while wipes away more sweat with his sleeve. She turns away at packing up everything.
Ignoring all of the invisible and humans alike, putting borrowed books back while all her hand writing was being boxed in a plastic seal container, she has already sharpie a cast rune curse over it. Once the box was closed and slide under the table to shadow. She picks up her repaired backpack, neatly hand embroidered with her own references of her favourite animals. She rolls her shoulder and looked over at the teacher assistant that is meant to be looking after her.
"You will need to take a physical exam or have ranking clearance." The teaching assistant autopilot himself to take a seat across from her. This is the sort of speech given for legal purposes to transfer into an undertaker ran school. He so stressed that he details the law down to the fine point and implies the supernatural phenomenon hunters oath taking. He brought out human an transfer papers for school and began focus with altering the words to settle things.
"I will take the coach there." She sits back down leaning at the desk, her shadow is altering that paper work as he becomes distracted from her. When she hand pats in a lazy stretch, it left behind an oath stamp. An oath stamp that blacked whole lines across her personal stuff and even rewords the agreement clauses that would be between schools. She slips hands away and head down at desk.
"Will you be informing your family?"
"No. There isn't a point of disturbing them. They have their own lives. I am just some girl with no clue around the supernatural." The demon frowns deeply since she said this when looking at his eyes and not the human host his in. He adjusted the suit tie.
"A god follower will have to company you instead." She shurgs at that.
"Hephaestus?" She asked.
"The one the Navajo of America call the Black god." She nods at that.
"Another fire one." She nods deeper at slower pace, "Fire is quiet the theme. Maybe I will be cremated." She smiles, "I can't believe he let a coyote steal his pouch. Although that was a beautiful accident." She slips away her backpack to her shadow, "Maybe I should walk myself. There's a game trail from the fence." He frowned in shock, "Not the first time hitchhiking." She hard hits his shoulders and arm slides the entire paperwork to disappear. She scans the room, sees a staff door. Punched in the lock code and takes it as a short cut into the back offices to the school entry. No need for her to slip the fence. Her mask in the main office stamps her leave. Left sticky notes on purpose to delay a remind to send a message to her family. She wasn't even stopped. Everyone lost their minds, paralysed in the over whelming discomfort and confusion.
2 weeks later a missing persons report is filed. Not even by her own family.
She stays crouched beside the the vessel of the black god. Sigil path at this area is full of god eaters. The man seems poor that even the god eaters in dog form are avoiding him, starvation of melted muscular joints is one way to not be devoured. She observed some interesting insight with the Navajo, from the great path and his navigation of it. To the interaction of the hidden by lost ones. She of course got this far by gifting him traditional and none traditional tributes. She follows his example and learns the way of nature at the level of being among it. She finds herself enjoying the time, as this wasn't good but not worse. It has its end with the nightmare creature causing her and the poor trickster to move on.
She crossed into st August school ground in the October term, dragging a gator carcass for tribute to the dead man hanging tree of the school. No angel or demon dared approach her in sheer fear. She was shabby and every bit lacking a human look in her mask. She lays the roots in sleep and face the morning covered in blooms and thorns.
"Leana Fallown Seer." She tucked herself more at not wanting to wake up. But she felt the aura of the spirit, knew better. She leans to with the tree at her back. Right hand removed the mask. She draw in one knee, hugging it slightly and steadies a stare towards the reaper.
"Don't eat that one. It's deaths fourth human this week." She knocked the tree softly, "The old bones is already having a mental strain with the glitching boundaries." The tree flexed in relying on her comment, "Joel right? You're looking a little tired. You shouldn't let your blade eat your life force." The grim reaper sneers pursed lips, "Loki." She pose left hand and the creature left the grims shoulder. Hops as a discolored raven; whites, greys and specks of black. Stopping short with rolling belly to her and expected of her hand to rub his face. She gentle as anything and knew this creatures game. Plays with back feet until he scampers away for a toy. Her focus back to the grim.
"So you are the real deal." He crossed his arms, "the cult of dream chasers are your fault." She thinks about that for a prolong while.
"It depends if the chicken came before the egg." She squares them easy as she felt no threat of Omens about his present human followers. Death sends living human followers to find the missing humans, to make sure the records are accurate or need a god check. It's reduces the uncertainty from humans that accidentally cross to hidden pockets or keeps death gods being devoured by boundries keepers. Undertakers are normally sent if it's not living realm side.
"He wishes to remind you not to let your creatures eat his vessel on accident." Joel takes a turn and leaves at no further discussion. She felt the tome pages with her shadow side and there isn't any of death's souls in her books. So this was a warning before it could happen. He does that a lot when not sure of her human status.
"Should we be calling the police?" A human teacher that is clueless and blind from abnormal things.
"And report a missing person found? Sure." She finger guns them with no a drop if being serious about it. She puts her mask back on and stands. She strides a few steps at them, and thus teacher backed in exchange steps. Pale terror about their expression. She makes it to the lip of the raise tree bed, leans almost into the sun light.
"Leana!" An undertaker rushed over with blocking between her and the teacher. The teacher passed out now. She finally pulled into the sun light glow, appears exactly as a human as she should. Be it filthy and covered in tree bits.
"Deaths crests." She left hand brushed the arm sleeve of the undertaker, "I guess his really taken you lot under wing. Is Joseph the monarch?" She sees the uncertainty of the undertaker, "Would any of those Fallowns be under the crest?"
"Robert." Her grandpa from her mother's side. Leana nods at that.
"Tell him that I miss Saturday night's at his place." The undertaker ignores with taking the teacher to be look after. Their partner arm grapples Leana to go use the facilities. Get her cleaned up and changed. She doesn't mind this ignorant awareness by those around and prefers being the looked down one. No one here of this universe is none the wise to her outside achievements. The disbelief of these feats.
"No magic casting!" The undertaker having interrupted a student fight. All the classic rivalry from Seer, Fallown and Darkwoods. But no Glader? Actually they arrived late with a higher staff member. It just was good timing for Leana and this undertaker to break the casting.
"Cheated death. That's a lot of paperwork." She breaks out of the Undertakers hold of her arm and lowered herself at the victim of this magic casting, "Oooh, fancy death curse. Flawed. What a mistake in the system craft." She peels it off like a sticker. Holding their face still. She smiled wide in taking it, altered into a coin. She takes no second though of shoving her shadow hand through them, soul removed and checked. She puts them back and with that cold poker smile. Standing up, "Now you've not cheated death. He will be fine with such outcome. It's less paperwork. Less tome faff." She plays with the death coin between fingers. Slow stop at the undertaker, "Well? Aren't you going to report that? Report soul check."
She narrow into eyes and the undertaker breaks sight with doing exactly that. She gets on with taking spare student wear. Basic wash up and took a shower stall. They were debating every detail the whole duration. Humans back to magic fists fight as she complete vacuums this room of all energy flows. All magic casting was stopped, regardless of fancy word play.
"Enough now, Darkwood. You have over stepped your ranking as according to sigil rankers oath. Not even the gods will convince me otherwise. I know your are damned. I know your cruse. I know the black magic, the blood boiling is over kill. They already died for 3 seconds. Don't push more."
"Who are you and what law do you think will make you above me?" She thinks about this as this was a human misconception. Hiegharchy is earned, trusted and respected. But there isn't a black and white or right or wrong. No upper or lower the another. Really it's this kid against the one his killed, not her. Faith is built this way. She made up her mind in not explaining it to them. They all so clueless. Ignorance but it's peace for her.
"You have forfeit demonic casting and are disconnected to the creatures." She makes a cast, "You are to be hunted in your dreams until I say so. You will never obtain a demons service until I say so. You are to be watched when even the gods can't." She waved the sigil panel into form and she makes some hunter oath setting adjustments. She broke the demon contract this student has and has even done this for other family members of Darkwood. Taking away their power over shadow of the damned authority and make favorable consequences for undertakers in relation of this. She pulls away the panel as it didn't belong in the living realm. Her foot stamped in making jump notion at this kid. They backed off and she smirks that they fear her. She puts the flow of energy back as it was.
"What happens to this soul when he dies?" The undertaker asked her.
"My creatures win the game of monster and mouse." She moved around to a mirror and brushed wet hair to style. She is fully clothed in both uniforms of an undertaker and a student. She wears her own crest arm band, taking no side of any kingdom. Her mask side stands it's own spot from inside the reflection world. It bemused of causing mischievous things. Pickpocket and reading book schedules. Homework being read through. Privacy totally lacking in her fingers as she taking numbers from their phones and poking thier social media presence.
"You are all in detention!" The one taking charge points at all the students. The Glader and Leana included in this wiggle.
"I'm not a student." She voiced and they hiss at her.
"I expect you there." Taking exit as some farce above them, "Go to class now!" Barked in waiting for them to leave the bathroom. Glader helps the victim to the nurses office as they not well at all. The Seer helps the Darkwoods with talking about the new curse on them. It left the Fallown staring at Leana. That jolts and rushed to class, look back at her with knowing she's human. She last to exit and the teacher slams hand in trying to have it over her. Be it demanding respect or something. She misread as this jerk trying to do something else. She makes space between them and doesn't loose any game of will.
"You're just another brick in the wall." She hissed at this teacher, "Wall flower among field of others. Stay that way. You're to weak for the world beyond humans." She the one making ground away.
"Take that attitude to the headmaster. I dare you." Trying to give chase to make sure she going the right direction. But she takes a staff door soonest possible, strides past demons in lacking human appearance. The teacher couldn't give chase from this point. Staring into the lounge of mock humans and demons. Someone had to push him from the doorway. She takes the lounges exit to some other corridor. She takes no time at taking stairs to the private office spaces for teachers. She puts herself at the waiting seats for the throne room, which is the headmaster office and the highest angels office.
She stares at the floor, feet dangle and playing with the remains of banished. Her shadow pockets all this free dust. Getting bored in being here for hours. She cleans the whole room, sitting on a ladder with a screw driver in her mouth. Repairing the smoke detector fault here. Battery replaced and screwing the casing back together. She looks at the two leaders.
"I will go call in the police to report your well being." The angel leaving. The demon crossed arms with lost thoughts. Drafted back to how the angel is back with hanging up. Leana screwed the smoke detector back to the ceiling. Button to test it. She nods of it being better. Down the ladder and slips it back to the janitor closet.
"I need an oath hire for a demon court against the angelic order." She stares at him at equal expression of dull poker frown. The angel nodding in agreeing.
"The higher ups are trying to play war using humans. They are going against gods plan."
"I can't make any moves with angel courts. I can with gods, demons and undertakers. Angel courts. No. You folks are freaks. Make the soulless of some worlds pale in comparison." She steadies that answer was what they hoped for.
"It's why we want you as our stand. Handling the unfiltered divine is up your alley. You just have to turn up. Just showing up is enough."
"I guess I don't need to be human." She sighed at that, "Piss off death with another heart attack with glitching the tomes. Sure. Why not. His wife will have a field day."
"What?" The angel is confused.
"She's a Fallown Seer. They have weird connections to the death domain." The demon headmaster waved this fact sideways, "Leana. You can go as a human. The crossing doesn't mean looking your earthly attachment. You might kill them if you did turn up without your humanity."
"They are good eating." And nods at that, "Well whatever. I guess I need to check in with Squeaky. That cat gets stuck in the strangest of small spaces." She picked up her backpack from her shadow, encrusted of gemstones to each animal reference. Improved zipper and looked expensive. She takes the file from their hands that presented as the case file.
"You didn't tell her that one the angels has to fly her."
"She has her own."
