Chapter 33: Chapter 33: The Wrong Way to Play BGM (Edited)

The man with disheveled, chin-length brown hair was adeptly changing the magazine in his handgun. What was particularly striking was his left arm, which from the shoulder down, was entirely made of metal, culminating in a robotic arm with a conspicuous red star on the shoulder. Clown Bucky!

My mistake... I meant Winter Soldier Bucky!

In the film's storyline, although there were six Winter Soldiers, the only one who made an appearance and the only one who survived was the man before Clark now.

Captain America's best friend, one of the catalysts for the civil war, a tragic figure throughout, now brainwashed by Hydra into a killing machine: Bucky Barnes!

As Clark recognized Bucky, Bucky also noticed the attack launched by Clark.

However, the object Clark shot was thin and small, and not very fast; Bucky didn't take it seriously. Continuing to change his magazine without pause, he simply sidestepped to avoid the metal rod's path.

That was exactly the reaction Clark was hoping for. A sly smile crept onto his face as he pressed his left hand onto his right wristwatch with lightning speed.

The next moment, the rod shot at Bucky suddenly expanded into a thick staff, striking him before he could react.

"Bang!"

Caught off guard, Bucky was hit squarely by the suddenly enlarged staff.

Had it been an ordinary person, they would have been knocked down and out of the fight immediately.

But was Bucky ordinary? Of course not! He too was a genetically modified super soldier.

Even unprepared for the blow, he only staggered back three steps before steadying himself.

At this moment, Clark leaped from behind the control panel, catching the staff that rebounded off Bucky and swung it down at him.

The staff in Clark's hand, named Ruyi, was a weapon specially forged by Hank Pym, made of titanium alloy on the outside and osmium to increase its weight, thus enhancing its force. It was also infused with Pym particles, allowing its size to be controlled freely.

Despite its modest appearance, the actual weight of Ruyi was a staggering thirteen and a half kilograms! With such a heavy staff wielded by Clark, a strike would crush even Bucky's skull.

However, facing Clark's nearly unstoppable strike, Bucky didn't dodge or block; he calmly raised his metal left arm to meet Clark's heavy hit head-on.

"Clang!"

A thunderous noise erupted as if lightning had struck, the harsh sound echoing in the vast base chamber, lingering for a long time.

Clark, who bore the brunt, felt a numbness in his hands, and the Ruyi staff nearly slipped from his grasp. But Bucky was not unscathed either, feeling a tightness in his chest from the blow and involuntarily stepping back.

However, Bucky's combat experience was evidently rich. Taking advantage of Clark's momentary disarray from the recoil, he quickly grasped the other end of the Ruyi staff with his mechanical arm. At the same time, he raised his newly loaded handgun, ready to deal a harsh blow to Clark.

"Bang!" Clark, repeating the move he used against Crossbones, kicked Bucky's wrist, sending the handgun flying.

Without the handgun, Bucky didn't care and engaged Clark in close combat.

Now each holding an end of the Ruyi staff, they fought fiercely, their free limbs clashing.

In moments, Clark landed several kicks on Bucky's legs and abdomen, but Bucky, seemingly indifferent to his own injuries, endured Clark's strikes and landed a heavy punch on Clark's chest.

Clark's body, not as durable as Bucky's, stumbled and lost grip on the Ruyi staff, getting thrown back and crashing into the control panel behind him, pain furrowing his brow.

This Bucky was much more formidable than Crossbones!

After his battle with Crossbones, Clark felt as if he had completed some kind of mission. Nalan Long, the elder, had imparted to him the complete techniques of the Shaolin Twelve Tan Legs and another set of staff techniques not available for purchase.

Over the month searching for Captain America, Clark exercised daily to the tune of "Calorie," improving his physical condition to a new level.

Combining these factors with the Ruyi staff Hank Pym crafted for him, Clark believed he could overcome Crossbones, even if their physical strengths differed, thanks to the BGM's properties.

But facing Bucky, he was still being suppressed.

It shows that certain inequalities cannot be equated.

It's not as simple as assuming Crossbones could match Captain America because Bucky could; their strengths are not on the same level.

Facing Bucky, who seemed tireless and impervious to pain, Clark felt a sense of helplessness.

Even with his BGM, he didn't feel like a match for Bucky.

Wasn't it said that no one could defeat me in my BGM? Or was I playing the BGM wrong?

As Bucky approached, wielding Clark's Ruyi staff, Clark prepared for battle, quickly recalling every BGM he had mastered since awakening his "Divine BGM System."

Calorie? That was for exercise, hardly a game-changer in battle.

Chinese Kung Fu? Same as above.

Watch My 72 Transformations? A waste of time considering the situation.

As Bucky raised the staff for another attack, Clark hastily pressed a button on his wristwatch.

The next moment, the Ruyi staff in Bucky's hand shrank back to the size of an earpick and slipped through his fingers.

Caught off guard, the background music enveloping the hall shifted from the bold and impassioned "Men Should Strengthen Themselves" to a serene chant.

 "Purifying Heart Mantra"
