Chapter 26: Chapter 26
With Rose and Trevor now taken care of, I have a total of four decently strong vampires at my disposal. Granted, they're no Lucien Castle or Tristan but five hundred years is a good enough age for a strong vampire, for now at least.
I made daylight rings for the two of them, no more scurrying in the dark like rats looking for food. It's honestly embarrassing to go five hundred years without finding a way to get one but I can't judge.
Well I can but that's neither here nor there at the moment.
I'm currently in the Lockwood mansion for a party they're hosting because a founder's council meeting can't ever just be a simple meeting. Richard Lockwood's ego demands he throws a party for every little thing and believes they need a non conspicuous reason for all members to be at the same place at the same time.
As for what I'm doing here, I'm here to listen in on the meeting. Their heads are like hard drives that I can peruse for information. Once they come out of their boring room, I'll just pick one and browse away.
Another thing to note is that John is back in town and I'm really stuck on how to handle him. Not that I can't but because there are too many ways I'm having trouble picking one.
In the end, I choose the more entertaining route as I see him saunter into the main hall where the party is happening.
-[John Gilbert]-
Leaving the inner room where the council meeting was just held, he took in a deep breath, his eyes scanning the crowd. He caught sight of the elder Salvatore brother separating from the flock and followed behind.
Or at least that was what he intended to do had he not felt the urge to use the bathroom. He hadn't had nearly enough to drink to garner that reaction from his body but nonetheless, he tabled Damon's matter for the next few minutes as he quickly slithered away to the bathroom.
As he maneuvered through the hallway, he silently envied the luxury of the mansion. He was brought out of that thought as someone forcefully brushed past him.
"Hey! What don't you watch where you're going?" He warned, immediately grabbing them by the shoulder.
It was a blond man with a five o'clock shadow. His trenchcoat and the semi formal wear under it gave him a disheveled look that still managed to look acceptable for public wear.
"That's your problem mate, not mine. Piss off, or I'll make sure you're the one who's left with the bloody regrets... and a face to match." The man said, brushing his hand off him.
Something about him irked him to his bone. He wasn't one to get angry over something like this but for some reason he couldn't stop himself as his fist flew through the air, right into the man's face.
Despite the surprising amount of force he put in the punch, it only barely staggered the man who rubbed his chin, a prominent frown on his face. "Oh now you've done it!"
He barely had time to react as the man threw a punch that sent him to the floor. Each punch rang in his head and with his slowly blurring vision, he could see the crowd giving them a wide berth as the man rained blows on him.
"The name's Constantine. Don't you forget it." Before Constantine could rain more blows on him, he was tackled by a police officer, no doubt one of the men Sheriff Forbes had around he place.
"Nothing to see here, everyone. We've got this under control." Liz said as they separated the two of them, pulling them through the crowd and out of the building.
"What the hell is going on, John?!" Liz demanded once they were out of the building. "Everyone saw you attack an innocent man."
"An innocent man?! He-… where did he go?" His change in words had her turning around to see…nothing. The other man, Constantine, was gone and the policeman that escorted him out was unconscious on the floor.
"What the hell?" John muttered, immediately on guard.
Clenching his fists as tension filled his body, his blood froze as he looked down to his hand. The Gilbert ring… it was gone, no longer on his finger.
'What?!' He barely stopped himself from screaming in confusion. Without it, he was in a lot of trouble.
-[Nathan]-
Shedding my John Constantine disguise, I slip into the murmuring crowd, John's ring in my pocket. I don't necessarily need it but I believe that it's what gave him the confidence to do some of the shit he did, like confronting Damon who is known to be reckless and impulsive.
Sure he could go after Alaric but what's stopping me from stealing that ring too. For now, it's fun watching him try and fail to maintain his cool. He hasn't told the Sheriff about the ring's abilities so she could only give him a suspicious look.
Now back in the Lockwood mansion, I do catch sight of Elena, Matt, Caroline and Tyler wandering around. No sight of Damon but that's not too important right now. I have what I came for because John's mind is even easier to break into when he's angry…or rather, when I induce anger in him.
He still thinks the tomb vampires are roaming about the town but I doubt he'll act as brazen anymore. He's in contact with Isobel who is in contact with Katherine.
What he doesn't know is that she is using him because deep down, he's still in love with her. Oh well, sucks to be him anyway.
The question is; do I have any use for Isobel? I know she's Elena's mother and all that but other than getting to Katherine, do I have any further use for her?
With her humanity off, she's too volatile and even if she turned it back on, I wouldn't trust her with so much as ten dollars.
These thoughts occupied my mind as I slipped away from the party to the secluded bathroom and apparated home.
Appearing in my living room, I made to move but paused as I notice a familiar face seated on the couch, a vulnerable look on her face.
"Hello Bonnie," I greeted, causing her head to snap towards me so fast I feared it would pop off. "I thought I wouldn't see you for a while."
"Yeah I'm sorry for just running out like that? Can we talk?" She asked.
I can't sense anyone else inside so why not? "Sure."
