Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam

Chapter 252: Quick Sleep Technique

Sincaro? Who is Sincaro?

Miss Lindong suddenly spoke these words, leaving the headmaster and Franky stunned for quite a while before they finally recalled the terrifying significance behind the name.

Master of Demons, one of the current three Evil Gods.

He is usually known by this title; few people dare to call him by his name.

These words sound somewhat strange, but upon careful thought, they seem reasonable. Although the Time Traveler destroyed a civilization and never left any defeat in encounters with humans, compared to a real Evil God, it's like comparing a minor witch to a great wizard. Even the true gods and middle-level gods never had victories against Evil Gods; they've only come up with methods to seal them away.

"Have you... seen Sincaro?"

The headmaster asked.

"Just met."

If possible, Lindong hopes she never has to encounter Sincaro again, even though Ethan said Sincaro has been "reset to factory settings," causing severe memory loss. But with his twisted personality, who can assure that he won't become infatuated with Ethan again?

That character, heavy to the extreme, does not seem capable of doing good deeds.

After this journey to the bottomless abyss, as Ethan's family, Lindong assessed the three mainstreamly recognized Evil Gods. The evaluations of the remaining two were at least acceptable in her opinion.

Kane, comrades who supported each other and fought side by side, low danger, no need for concern.

Bazatous, a soul mate in the realm of art and aesthetics, medium danger, needs periodic monitoring.

Lindong hopes these two can learn more from Anapolis, focusing their time on developing their hobbies rather than constantly fixating on her Ethan.

"What is he... like?"

Franky completely gave up resisting this crazy world; now, he just wanted to know more.

"Lots of eyes crammed together, filling the sky."

Lindong thought for a moment and said, but she was very sure that was still not Sincaro's true form. The Old Gods were too large, beyond human imagination, so Kane, Bazatous, and Anapolis needed some kind of intermediary to meet them.

Franky exchanged information from the books with her, "I heard he resembles a shadow. Wherever there is darkness, there he exists."

"Now is not the time to discuss Sincaro."

The headmaster reminded the two, as their topic gradually drifted astray, "Mr. Franky, you believe other Time Travelers have infiltrated the academy; professors and students are still in danger."

It's not easy to pick out these creatures capable of altering appearances from a crowd.

"'Get to Know 100 Dark Creatures' mentions a type of monster possessing similar abilities to Time Travelers; they can also alter appearances, turning into human forms."

"Shapeshifters!"

Franky blurted out; he had researched dark creatures while attending the academy.

Not because he liked magical animals, but so he could sneak out of the academy under the guise of practical study, "But the abilities of Time Travelers are far more advanced than Shapeshifters."

The book mentions numerous weaknesses of Shapeshifters, such as fearing silver weapons, disliking the prayers and blessings of the Life Divine Teachings, which are common traits among many dark creatures. Moreover, when transforming, they need to collect sufficient biological samples of the targeted individual, directly resulting in those targeted often ending up as their food.

Today's transformation potions in Alchemy are derived from the traits of Shapeshifters.

As for Time Travelers, they completely surpass these limitations, with transforming as simple as eating or drinking water.

"That's because we don't understand them enough yet; perhaps we can find clues from some books."

Ethan offered his insight.

"Very well, Mr. Ethan, the forbidden books section of the academy can be opened for you. Miss Lindong knows its location."

The headmaster appreciated Ethan a little more—he admired Ethan's way of thinking.

Not deterred by the reputation of Time Travelers, even without any related information, he could approach investigating it as something new.

This makes him the most suitable candidate for the next headmaster, much more fitting than Lindong.

He recalls when he proposed recommending Lindong for the headmaster position, the professors were infuriated, some even threatened to resign. While they acknowledged Lindong's talents in Elemental Magic, her mischievous disposition would bring the academy into its darkest times if she inherited the hermit's title.

The worst-case scenario would be the entire island being blown sky-high by her.

Several discussions on this topic ended in discord. Helplessly, the headmaster temporarily established the title of "acting headmaster" to aid Lindong's transformation, but before it was completed, the Fallen War erupted two years ago.

The academy mentors felt conflicted upon hearing about the imperial battle.

In their minds, Lindong was a "Black Demon King," but if you said she colluded without limits with Evil God's Followers, at least they, as professors who watched Lindong grow, wouldn't believe it.

There are many kinds of wickedness.

Lindong was the kind that mischievously spiked their blood pressure.

Over the years, relations between the academy and the Empire have not been harmonious, especially after the Fallen War. Elemental Shapers rarely associate with the followers of Life Divine Teachings.

"It's getting late, Miss Lindong; your former chambers are still vacant."
