Winning the male lead

Chapter 5 - Playboy(5)

Le Tian woke up from a restful sleep and immediately asked the system, “Has Shen Lixing woken up?”

System: “Yes, he’s already gone to the company.”

Le Tian: “As expected of my little uncle, even if the sky falls, he has to go to work. Such dedication!”

System: “He went to reclaim your shares.”

Le Tian froze, grabbing the blanket in agony. Oh no, his cover was about to be blown!

His wealth and status!

It’s really not easy being the young master when there’s someone above you.

Le Tian, wrapped in his pajamas, trudged upstairs while instructing the system, “Next world, I must have absolute power.”

System: “Instead of that, shouldn’t you be more worried about your mission?”

Le Tian yawned lazily, waving to a passing servant as he greeted them, “Completing the mission is easy, just gotta keep steady.”

When he reached the second floor and tried to open his bedroom door, he found it locked.

“!!!” Helooked at the door in disbelief, “Is Shen Lixing hinting that I should leave?”

System: “No, it’s more like a clear indication.”

He must be really angry, not even wanting to see him, giving him no opportunity at all.

Le Tian sighed, “What a jerk. He kissed me last night, and today he wants me gone. Boohoo.”

System: … Didn’t you say it was an accidental contact???

Le Tian was frustrated. He could go to the wardrobe for new clothes, but his wallet and ID were still in the bedroom.

He had no choice but to ask the servants for the key.

The servant politely refused, “Sir instructed us not to fulfill any requests from the young master.”

Le Tian’s face stiffened.

How cruel!

That jerk!

System: Shen Lixing, well played!!!

Le Tian’s shoulders slumped, his whole body showing defeat as he walked towards the wardrobe, only to find it locked as well.

Could it be? Was he really being “kicked out”?

He angrily punched the wall.

System was silently enjoying the show.

Le Tian: “Stop laughing, I can hear you.”

System: “I didn’t laugh out loud.”

Now that he had reached this point, he didn’t know what to do next. After thinking for a moment, he realized he needed to focus on his survival first.

Luckily, he had a friend in this world, Xu Tao, who was also a young master with whom he had a decent relationship.

Since he didn’t have his phone on him, he had to run downstairs to make a call.

Thankfully, no one was watching by the phone, but he was still worried Shen Lixing might take things further and cut the phone line.

He called Xu Tao, who picked up quickly, “Hello?”

Le Tian: “Hey, Xu Tao, it’s me.”

Xu Tao’s voice immediately became louder, “Le Tian!”

“Yeah, come over to my house for a bit,” Le Tian said.

Xu Tao immediately responded, “Okay, I’ll be there.” No questions asked.

Le Tian hung up the phone with satisfaction. “I still have good connections.”

System: “That’s only because you’re the Shen family’s young master.”

In other words, once his identity as the young master of the Shen family was revealed, he would no longer be anything in their eyes.

Le Tian shrugged. “It’s fine, I’ll fool whoever I can.”

Xu Tao didn’t waste time. Within half an hour, he called Le Tian, “Le Tian, I’m at the front gate of your house. Should I come in or will you come out?”

“Come in,” Le Tian replied. Shen family’s mansion was so huge that walking from the gate to the house would make his legs give out.

Xu Tao hesitated slightly on the phone, “I told security I was looking for you, but they… won’t let me in.”

Shen Lixing! This was too much! Le Tian felt a deep sense of anger. He was still in pajamas and slippers, and Shen Lixing was being this unreasonable. Even if he wanted him to leave, he should at least ensure he had the conditions to leave.

He looked down at his fuzzy slippers and sadly said to the system, “Someone like me, the ‘Prince of Peas,’ has never walked such a long distance in my life. My delicate little feet are going to get blisters soon.”

System: “You can choose to stay here shamelessly, isn’t that your forte?”

Le Tian: “Who said I’m leaving?”

System: “?”

Le Tian: “I’m just going out to grab a bite and buy some clothes. What are you thinking? Shen Lixing didn’t tell me to leave.”

System: …

It had underestimated his shamelessness!

Le Tian, feeling miserable, dragged his weak legs towards the distant front gate.

“Shen Le Tian, really, you never exercise, and after just walking a bit, you’re already out of breath,” Le Tian muttered as he walked a short distance and had to stop to rest, complaining to the system.

System: “Heh.” It didn’t even want to talk to him anymore. How could someone this useless have completed so many worlds?

Le Tian: “Are you wondering how I completed so many worlds?”

The system fell silent, embarrassed by being caught.

System: “F*** your mother.”

Le Tian: “…”

System: “Did you just imagine that I cursed at you?”

Le Tian: “Yes, and what you said was ridiculous.”

The system laughed, its voice ringing like a silver bell, sending shivers down Le Tian’s spine. He got up and started walking again.

After walking for a while, he suddenly said, “You know I’m a genetically engineered hybrid, right?”

The system had a familiar, ominous feeling.

“Actually, strictly speaking, I don’t have a mother,” he sighed. “If I had to say, my maternal gene comes from an elephant.”

“F*** an elephant, impressive,” Le Tian said, giving a thumbs-up.

The system was at its wit’s end. It was wrong. It should never have challenged this person’s shamelessness because he—had—no—limits!

Le Tian had been walking for over half an hour when he finally reached the entrance. He gave the security guards a resentful look. The security guard awkwardly smiled and watched him walk out with a heavy heart and slumped shoulders.

Outside, Xu Tao was leaning against his bright red sports car, dressed in a trendy T-shirt and casual pants, his long limbs and relaxed demeanor giving him an air of elegance. When he saw him, he waved happily. The sun shone brightly, making him look every bit the charming young master.

Le Tian sighed. “What a shame, still not as handsome as me.” He waved back at him.

Xu Tao quickly walked over, scanning him up and down. “Sleepwear style today?”

Le Tian: “…” Dude, you’re really not sharp.

He got into his car and told him to head to the mall downtown.

“Did you just buy this car?” Le Tian asked, smelling the distinctive leather scent of a new car.

Xu Tao nodded. “Yeah, I bought it after the new quarterly bonuses came in, just to have fun with.”

Le Tian asked, “Do you like red?”

“Of course, red is flashy,” Xu Tao said with a grin.

Le Tian crossed his arms dramatically and said, “I have a red yacht, almost brand new, discounted. Want it?”

Xu Tao: “…”

Le Tian turned to him with wide, hopeful eyes. “We’re friends, so I’ll give you an 85% discount.”

Xu Tao rejected, “I don’t know how to drive a yacht.”

Le Tian said, “You can learn.”

After a long silence, he said, “… I’ll think about it.”

Le Tian nodded in satisfaction. “I’ll save it for you.”

Xu Tao: If anyone else wants it, just sell it to them!

Once inside the mall, Le Tian got straight to the point, heading to a clothing store. He casually picked out a set of clothes and, after trying it on, looked in the mirror and smiled. “No need to say much, I’ve fallen in love again.”

The system, however, poured cold water on him: “That’s Shen Le Tian’s face, what does it have to do with you?”

Le Tian replied, “You’re wrong. What’s important isn’t the face, but the aura that emanates from within, this aura I call the ‘unavoidable handsomeness from deep within my soul.'”

System: “Heh, the aura of an elephant.”

Le Tian ignored it and confidently called over Xu Tao, who was standing nearby. He raised his chin and ordered, “Pay the bill.”

Xu Tao, confused, pointed to himself. “Me pay?”

“I don’t have money,” Le Tian said, unapologetically.

Xu Tao chuckled and teased, “Haven’t seen this before.” He handed over his card to the sales clerk.

Shen Le Tian was the wealthiest young master in their circle, and when they hung out, he often paid for everything. As he would say, if he was hosting, anyone who tried to pay first was disrespecting him.

Le Tian also remembered how he used to lavish money on his friends, so he felt no guilt in having Xu Tao pay now.

When the sales clerk brought the receipt for Xu Tao to sign, he casually reminded him, “Soon, you’ll get used to it.”

Xu Tao, not understanding, asked, “Used to what?”

“Nothing,” Le Tian smiled.

The next hour was a complete robbery for Xu Tao.

Le Tian hadn’t lost his knack for spending. He bought everything with a steady hand, choosing the most expensive items without hesitation: suits, shirts, watches, shoes—the wardrobe of a young master, with no less than seven or eight bags. Xu Tao, trailing behind, felt like he was being scammed and was now carrying the bags and swiping his card.

“Hey, I’m tired from all the shopping. Let’s rest for a bit,” Le Tian said, turning to the dazed Xu Tao.

Their destination was the city’s most exclusive private restaurant, the place where Shen Lixing had exposed Le Tian’s real identity.

Le Tian: “When you fall, get up from the same spot!”

Today, he wasn’t buying out the entire restaurant. He only booked a private room, and that was thanks to Xu Tao’s face.

At first, the restaurant manager was reluctant to give them the room, looking hesitant, clearly having received instructions from Shen Lixing’s side.

He had lost all his privileges in the city.

After sitting down in the private room, Xu Tao asked, “I feel like something’s off.”

Even Xu Tao, who wasn’t the sharpest, noticed the strange attitude of the security, Le Tian’s uncharacteristic behavior, and the manager’s awkwardness. He added, “Did you have another falling-out with your uncle?”

“How could that be? My relationship with my little uncle is like this.” Le Tian gave a thumbs-up.

The system, remembering he had done the same gesture when it called itself “the best system,” thought, “What does this ‘this’ even mean?”

System: “What does ‘this’ mean?”

Le Tian, surprised, responded, “It’s a thumbs-up. Don’t you know what a thumbs-up is?”

System: … It really wanted to hit someone.

Xu Tao nodded, “Shen Uncle cares for you a lot, don’t be too stubborn with him.”

Le Tian agreed, “Yeah, arguing with him never ends well.”

Meanwhile, Shen Lixing was at the company, about to sign the final document for the share transfer, when he received a call from home.

“Sir, it’s bad! The young master has… committed suicide!”

The servant, holding the “suicide note” pulled from Shen Le Tian’s pants, cried as they spoke on the phone.
