Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Chapter 34

"Do you know if my sister has met someone new recently?" Qin Teng asked Shi Yunyang.

"I haven't heard her mention anything. Why do you ask?" Shi Yunyang responded. Many of Qin Teng's questions revolved around Qin Wanshu, so she was already used to it. Shi Yunyang suspected that Qin Teng might have a bit of a sister complex.

"It seems my sister has not come home two nights in a row. The first time, it was fine since Han Shibin wasn't home, but this time, he was home, and she didn't come back last night either. It's really unexpected for something like this to happen to my sister." This morning, she even called to ask me to help cover for her. It's truly remarkable.

"Your sister didn't come home last night, and she has a history?" Shi Yuyang looked at Qin Teng incredulously. No wonder Han Shibin had called two or three times yesterday to ask about Qin Wanshu's whereabouts. Ever since they were young, Shi Yuyang had done many outrageous things and had often encouraged Qin Wanshu to join her, but Qin Wanshu had always been a well-behaved girl, almost never doing anything out of line. So, hearing this news was truly astonishing to Shi Yuyang.

"Are you completely unaware?" Qin Teng could tell from Shi Yuyang's expression that he wouldn't get much out of her.

"If I were aware, would I not tell you? But where did your sister go last night? Does your sister have a lover?" Shi Yuyang felt her gossip-loving spirit ignite, more powerful than ever.

"I don't know. My guess is that the last time she didn't come home, she was probably with a woman." The perfume smell he had noticed on his sister last time was clearly something a woman would use.

"Wow! Qin Wanshu is playing with women? Oh my, that's even more explosive than Yan Ruolian playing with women! Qin Wanshu is too much; I tell her all my secrets, yet she keeps such a huge secret from me!" Shi Yuyang said indignantly.

"Hey, don't be so vulgar; my sister isn't you," Qin Teng firmly believed that his sister would never engage in such behavior.

"Anything is possible; your sister, as perfect as she is, is still human with desires." Shi Yuyang was thrilled with her speculation. She had hoped for years that someone would break Qin Wanshu's boring life and make her do something outrageous. Later, when Shi Yuyang found out that Qin Wanshu was involved with her husband's lover, it would fully satisfy her dark sense of humor and leave her astonished—indeed, the young lady had been silent until now, but when she spoke, it was shocking!

"Nonsense." Qin Teng still found such a possibility highly unlikely.

"By the way, if your sister really does play with women, would you still idolize her as a goddess?" Shi Yuyang asked curiously, knowing that in Qin Teng's eyes, Qin Wanshu had been almost deified.

"Playing with women isn't a big deal. If she likes it, what's the harm in me sending her a few more?" Qin Teng said dismissively.

Shi Yuyang felt she had made a mistake in her assumption; Qin Teng had no boundaries when it came to private matters and wouldn't judge someone based on their personal life. He only cared about strength; he liked those who were stronger than him.

"Hey, do you want to grab a meal sometime?" Shi Yuyang immediately dropped Qin Teng and called Qin Wanshu. She couldn't help it; her interest in this gossip outweighed her previous desire to prank Yan Ruolian, and it excited her.

When Qin Wanshu heard Shi Yuyang's excited voice, she knew Qin Teng had said too much. Qin Wanshu shook her head slightly, feeling a headache coming on.

"I don't have time." Qin Wanshu didn't want to be gossiped about; if the situation continued like this, the likelihood of Zuo Qinghuan being exposed would only increase. However, at that moment, Zuo Qinghuan's identity had subtly shifted—from Han Shibin's mistress to someone who was seen as Qin Wanshu's mistress by those two busybodies.

"When will you have time? I'm free any time," Shi Yuyang pressed, her interest in this gossip surpassing all other concerns.

"Shi Yuyang, curiosity killed the cat," Qin Wanshu said, truly helpless against Shi Yuyang, who was always eager to stir up trouble.

"I'd rather be a cat killed by curiosity than one suffocated by it. You're not like that, Qin Wanshu. I tell you all my secrets, and I'm the first to share anything fun with you. You keeping something so big from me isn't fair!" How could she possibly miss any potential blemishes on the otherwise virtuous Qin Wanshu?

Qin Wanshu rubbed her forehead, feeling wronged. The so-called secrets and fun things that Shi Yuyang spoke of were all things she had blurted out herself; Qin Wanshu had never asked. She had to force herself to pretend to listen attentively, and heaven knew she didn't want to hear about Shi Yuyang's unreliable stories.

"Where for lunch?" Qin Wanshu finally compromised. Shi Yuyang couldn't be easily dismissed; her gossip spirit was remarkably strong.

"Come clean. Where did you go these last two nights?" Shi Yuyang got straight to the point as soon as she saw Qin Wanshu.

"With a new friend I met; we get along well," Qin Wanshu said evasively.

"A new friend? Do I know her? Is she a woman?" Shi Yuyang fired off several questions in succession.

"She's a new acquaintance; you don't know her, but you've seen her. She's a woman," Qin Wanshu answered truthfully.

"I've seen her? Who is she?" Shi Yuyang searched her brain but couldn't find this person. She was extremely curious about her.

"That I won't say," Qin Wanshu refused to answer.

"Are you just friends with her? Not in that way?" This was the crux of all Shi Yuyang's questions.

"I can only say that she is very special to me." Because Shi Yuyang had grown up with her, Qin Wanshu felt comfortable telling her the truth.

"So what are your plans?" It seemed that Han Shibin was even less significant than this person. When Han Shibin pursued Qin Wanshu in the past, Shi Yuyang had asked Qin Wanshu how she felt about him. At the time, Qin Wanshu had only said that Han Shibin was a suitable husband candidate—she didn't dislike him, but since Qin Wanshu was going to marry, he was just suitable. Other suitable people could have fit the bill too; with Han Shibin, perhaps she wouldn't even call it "special." Shi Yuyang found Han Shibin pitiful, but she generally lacked sympathy. The fact that Qin Wanshu found someone special only made Shi Yuyang more curious.

"I have no plans." Qin Wanshu indeed felt that Zuo Qinghuan was special, but not special enough to disrupt her life plans. Every decision she made was well thought out, and once decided, she rarely changed it lightly.

"Just playing around?" Shi Yuyang thought this was also the case. No matter how enticing the wildflowers outside might be, there was no need to take it seriously, especially since being with a woman wouldn't be easy to explain to others.

"I don't like to play; it's either serious or nothing. It depends on whether she can truly move my heart and if it's worth it." Talking to Shi Yuyang gave her a sense of clarity. She had feelings for Zuo Qinghuan, but whether she was in love or not, Qin Wanshu herself didn't know. At least for now, she hadn't reached a point where she would change her life for her.

"You really are something else." Shi Yuyang shook her head. Playing around was her life attitude, while seriousness was Qin Wanshu's. Shi Yuyang didn't agree with it. Moreover, Qin Wanshu had a slow-burning personality; after all, it had taken a long time for her to become friends with Qin Wanshu back in kindergarten. For that unknown woman to win Qin Wanshu over wouldn't be easy.

"Miss Shi, do you have any more questions?"

"Who exactly is that woman?" Shi Yuyang didn't give up and asked again.

"Alright, stop asking. This is a secret; don't tell Qin Teng, or else don't blame me if I can't keep your secrets either." Qin Wanshu suddenly felt that knowing some of Shi Yuyang's secrets wouldn't be too bad. In her eyes, Shi Yuyang's biggest secret was truly something trivial. Despite Shi Yuyang looking so alluring now, there was a time in middle school when she was quite chubby and actually pretty cute. However, Shi Yuyang was extremely critical of her appearance, believing that she looked terrible during that time. Qin Wanshu just happened to have a few photos of chubby Shi Yuyang, and Shi Yuyang was very afraid of those photos leaking.

"I'm scared of you." Seeing Qin Wanshu's resolute attitude, Shi Yuyang knew she wouldn't be able to get any more information and gave up. Anyway, she had gathered most of the gossip she wanted to know. If Qin Wanshu wouldn't tell her who the woman was, couldn't she find out herself? There were so many women they both knew; which one could it be? Shi Yuyang couldn't figure it out for now.

Zuo Qinghuan was eager to know what kind of lies Qin Wanshu would come up with to deal with Han Shibin. However, since Qin Wanshu returned home, she hadn't taken the initiative to call her again. Zuo Qinghuan probably still felt quite dejected, but thinking about how passive Qin Wanshu was made her feel relieved.

"Qin Wanshu, how about we grab a coffee? My treat," Zuo Qinghuan called to ask Qin Wanshu. Ever since opening her coffee shop, having coffee had become a nice option.

Having just finished an asset evaluation for Qin Teng, Qin Wanshu saw Zuo Qinghuan's call and couldn't help softening her gaze. She gently pressed the answer button.

"I don't like coffee; tea is fine," Qin Wanshu replied. During the day, while Han Shibin was at work, she had a bit more freedom.

"Then come out, old place, Central Square." Upon hearing this, Zuo Qinghuan grinned; she had an idea in mind.

Zuo Qinghuan quickly briefed Li Xin and then left the shop, driving to Central Square.

When Qin Wanshu arrived at Central Square, she found Zuo Qinghuan had already been there. Zuo Qinghuan was bending down to help a little boy who was learning to roller skate. The boy looked to be about four or five years old, very cute, and the sight of Zuo Qinghuan, looking like a fairy, made for a beautiful picture. At that moment, Zuo Qinghuan's smile was genuinely pure, and Qin Wanshu couldn't help but smile slightly as she watched Zuo Qinghuan and the little boy.

It seemed that Zuo Qinghuan sensed Qin Wanshu's arrival. She lifted her head and saw Qin Wanshu smiling at her from a distance. After saying a few words to the little boy, she walked over to Qin Wanshu.

"Why didn't you call me when you got here?" Zuo Qinghuan naturally linked arms with Qin Wanshu as she reached her.

"I just got here," Qin Wanshu replied, long used to Zuo Qinghuan's familiar gestures.

"Come with me to buy a tea set. How about you teach me the art of tea in the future?" Zuo Qinghuan decided to buy a tea set and seriously study tea ceremonies. Since Qin Wanshu liked tea, there would likely be many opportunities for tea in the future, so Zuo Qinghuan decided to cater to her interest.

"Does learning tea ceremonies help with running a coffee shop?" Qin Wanshu asked, pretending not to know Zuo Qinghuan's true motive.

"Learning more is always good," Zuo Qinghuan replied with a smile. In fact, she genuinely enjoyed learning, and using it as a reason to get closer to Qin Wanshu was just perfect.
