Will I Always Be Weak?

Chapter 5. Where it starts

Now that I have figured out how my new abilities work, I need to figure out where I am. There seem to be a lot of those cows around this area, so does that mean I'm on some sort of farm?

" I'm a Lesser Demon." The description said that I would be hunted on sight, so I should stay away from humans. I'm not sure if I'm strong enough to survive if someone tries to kill me.

"Hey, you!" I heard a man's voice behind me. It looks like I was too slow to react.

"What did you do to my cow!?" yelled the man

"Shit," I muttered, My only option is to...

Run!

I dashed in the opposite direction of the man towards the nearest forest, and as I made it to the tree line, I felt an eerie presence lurking deep inside. This presence was terrifying but it was better than being murdered by the first man I saw. I swear that I will not lose my second chance to another scumbag.

"Get back here!" he yells.

I glance at him and see him running at me with a short sword. I knew this man was scum. I turn back and head deeper into the forest, leaving the man in the dust.

Once I got deeper into the forest, I decided to take a break. I found a collapsed tree and took a seat. I open my stat menu and think.

---------------------------------------------

Stats:

Strength: 13
Vitality: 14
Agility: 10
dexterity: 8

Intelligence: 15
Sense:9

Unused stat points: 3

---------------------------------------------

"Strength is self-explanatory," I say as I clench my fist

"Vitality is my health, and agility is speed plus reaction time."

"Dexterity seems to be my stamina."

"And that must mean my intelligence improves my mana, and maybe my magic damage?"

"But I'm not too sure about the sense stat; what does it do?"

!Ding! Do you want to view the description of "Sense"? Yes/No

"This voice is very convenient. It answers almost all my questions about my abilities."

I breathe and reply, "Yes."

---------------------------------------------

Sense Description

Sense allows you to know where any creature is based on being able to sense their presence. Increasing your sense allows you to sense creatures at a longer distance. Weaker creatures have weak presences and struggle to hide them. Stronger creatures have large presences but can hide them.

---------------------------------------------

"So that's how it works." Sense seems very useful; no wonder I can feel a few small presences all over the forest. Sense will allow me to level up faster but also keep me safe from monsters that are stronger than myself.

"I wonder how strong I am." I was able to kill that cow easily, but I can't judge my skills off of that. I started to get lost in thought until I got rudely interrupted.

"It's an M-Monster." I hear a familiar voice behind me; it was that man from before. Did he follow me all the way here? Why couldn't I sense him, Is he that much stronger than me?!

"You killed my best cow! I won't let you get away!" the man shouted at me. I stared at him silently, not making a sound.

He said something under his breath and then smiled a menacing grin. "You're just a measly level 2, I have nothing to worry about," he laughed. How did he know my level? Is that his skill? I need to get away; it's too dangerous to fight him unprepared. I turn and try to flee into the woods.

" I won't let you!" He yells as he dashes to cut me off, and when he gets in front of me, he raises his sword. I screamed and brought my hand up to block his attack. Is this where I die? I didn't even get a chance to live. I look down and close my eyes, tears brewing at the corners of them. I waited for my death, but it didn't come.

"Klang." I heard the sword and felt it bounce off my arm. It hurt a lot but I'm not dead. I look up and see that man; he is off balance and is in a state of confusion. I looked at my arm and at the place where the sword collided, my scales shone in the light. These things saved me. I stare at the man, he tried to kill me, he deserves to die.

"What are you," the man said, He was trembling, his sword was shaking, and he was experiencing true fear.

" Claw strike," I mutter. My nails extend and start to burn. I charge at the man and use my claws to slice at him. he brings his sword up to counter but it is useless. My claws hit his sword and kept going; the sword began to melt and his skin burned. My claws continued their trajectory, not slowing at all. As the smell of burning flesh filled my nostrils, I noticed the man's face. Plastered with overwhelming fear, he flinched and closed his eyes. My mind raced as I realized what I was doing, I was about to kill a human, but I didn't care. Why don't I care?

"Ahh!" The man screams a heart-wrenching, terror-filled scream. My claws make contact with his neck and the smell of sizzling skin and blood makes me nauseous. As my claws continue forward, his head flies through the air, landing on the ground. The man is dead. I just killed a human. Thoughts flowed through my mind while I stared at the severed head. I started to gag and threw up all over the ground, I wasn't getting sick because of the sight or because I just killed a man. I was getting sick due to not understanding why I wasn't feeling any emotions. I just killed a man and I feel no sadness; I can't even shed a tear.
