Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 25: Assault

Chen Wen and Gaston surrounded Char from two directions of the camp, one in front and one behind.

Char had no idea that he had been targeted.

He was venting his frustration by chewing on the roadrunner's breast meat and leg bone.

After Chen Wen arrived, he paused for three minutes.

Suddenly, he made a "coo coo coo coo" sound.

This sound was very close to the camp, and Char looked up in the direction it came from.

If it were someone else, they might already suspect someone was approaching.

After all, where would there be a four-sound cuckoo in the desert?

This is common sense.

But Char was different.

He didn't even know what a four-sound cuckoo was.

So when two shadows rushed out, Char suddenly realized he was being ambushed.

Who were they?

Just as this thought flashed through Char's mind, Chen Wen's face filled his entire vision.

"Sapurues!"

Chen Wen's lips curled slightly, making Char involuntarily shiver.

The next second.

An overwhelming force hit Char's chest.

Then came the searing pain.

Finally, a sense of suffocation.

With one move, Chen Wen hit Char down to the ground with an elbow to the heart.

Then he pressed a knee against Char's chest, using his right leg's lower leg and thigh to clamp Char's left arm.

It was at this moment that Char finally screamed out.

Gaston only arrived now.

He looked at Chen Wen, who had already subdued Char, and trembled.

Damn!

It seems the people of Hua Country have a saying, drinking poison to quench thirst.

He seemed to be doing just that.

However, Gaston had no time for regrets now.

He pounced onto Char, pinning down his right arm and chest.

Char cried out in pain, "I can't breathe! Let me go!"

Chen Wen was startled by this and quickly told Gaston to move his leg from Char's chest.

"Give me the rope."

Chen Wen took the rope from Gaston's backpack and swiftly tied Char securely.

He then propped him up against the shelter.

It was only then that Char realized who had attacked him.

He looked at Chen Wen's face and couldn't help but shiver again.

That move from Chen Wen was especially fierce; Char even suspected his ribs might have been fractured by it.

Consequently, at this moment—no matter how much courage Char had—he dared not provoke Chen Wen.

His elimination was now a foregone conclusion.

Provoking them further, only to get beaten, would give him no ground to complain.

Chen Wen didn't mock or ridicule Char.

There was no need for that.

Eliminate him and take what he needed.

After thoroughly searching Char's shelter, Chen Wen handed the satellite phone to Gaston.

"You eliminate him."

According to the rules, whoever calls the satellite phone eliminates the other.

And the prize money also goes to the person who makes the call.

"You really don't want it? That's ten thousand bucks."

Gaston took the phone, feeling a bit odd.

Chen Wen shook his head, "The bonus will accumulate, and the champion will get everything."

"Alright then, you're more confident than anyone, even Adam wouldn't say that."

Gaston laughed.

"Haha, confidence is a very valuable trait."

Chen Wen also laughed.

This ambush was exhilarating!

And it was quite fruitful!

Char's five items were all there, and there was even something hanging on his shelter that Chen Wen had never eaten before—a rabbit!

A desert cottontail.

A new entry!

Although Char didn't have much food overall, this desert cottontail made the trip worthwhile.

"Alright, I'll eliminate him then."

Gaston shrugged and dialed the satellite phone.

The program team, upon receiving the call, dispatched a pre-prepared helicopter immediately.

...

"Why did you guys team up?"

Char endured the pain in his chest, looking at the two who had eliminated him.

To be honest, he wasn't angry; rather, he felt a sense of relief.

Four, no, five days of desert life had already become unbearable for him.

Just thinking about the next twenty-five days made him despair and irritable.

Chen Wen and his team, in a way, brought relief.

Chen Wen smiled, "The rules didn't say we couldn't team up, right? We have a pretty good relationship, so what's wrong with teaming up to eliminate you?"

"Hehe, did I anger you?"

Char forced a smile, "If I angered you, that's enough."

"How could that be? Your insults sound more like you're throwing a tantrum."

Chen Wen shook his head, "Go back and play a game called PUBG or LOL, play on Hua Country's servers. You'll understand what I mean."

Char nodded, "I will."

He looked at Gaston, then displayed a look of realization, "Is it because of that video?"

"Maybe, maybe not."

Gaston shook his head, "But the main reason is that I met Chen Wen, we got along well, and you...were the closest to us."

"It's that simple."

Char fell silent.

Chen Wen untied the ropes on Char, patting his shoulder.

"Although it might not be appropriate to comfort you right now, I still wish you success in your next survival challenge."

Char's expression was gloomy.

He wanted to vent again with those insulting words.

But now doing so would just bring humiliation upon himself.

"I will."

Char repeated the words he had said before, leaving the scene in sorrow.

...

Watching the helicopter fade into the distance, Chen Wen slowly exhaled.

As the camp fell silent once more, an eerie atmosphere slowly emerged.

Gaston smiled slightly, asking, "Now I'm worth twenty thousand bucks, what do you think?"

"Not enough."

Chen Wen also smiled.

He plopped down by the campfire, laughing, "No matter what you want to say, it's time for the loot-sharing assembly!"

"The loot-sharing assembly between you and me!"

Gaston nodded and sat across from Chen Wen.

Chen Wen laid out all the items Char had accumulated.

Anyone who could participate in this competition had some tricks up their sleeves.

Even though Char was eliminated, the supplies he left behind were quite good.

"The rabbit is mine."

Chen Wen claimed the dried desert cottontail without hesitation.

"Save me a bit, I don't like the taste of roadrunner."

Looking at the charred rabbit meat, Gaston felt himself starting to salivate.

"Alright, I'll give you a leg. I can share more of the other things later."

Chen Wen wasn't picky.

He wasn't particular about food—anything that could be eaten was good.

After dividing the food, there was the equipment.

According to their agreement, Chen Wen took the machete, fire starter, and sleeping bag.

The machete was for self-defense, as the entrenching tool wasn't as multifunctional as the machete.

Chen Wen's entrenching tool was purely a shovel, not a multifunctional one.

The fire starter was still relatively unused; Char hadn't used it much.

The sleeping bag could improve the sleeping environment.

Sleeping on the ground every day was difficult to bear.

But with the sleeping bag, Chen Wen could find some plants to pad under him, making sleep more comfortable.

He was very satisfied with the results of this trip.

Gaston took the dagger and water bottle.

He was also satisfied.

Because he hadn't brought a dagger.

This venture made up for that shortcoming.

Meanwhile, Gaston received a rabbit leg and some roadrunner meat.

Quite the profitable venture.

After the looting, the two shared a roadrunner by the campfire.

Then they began to rest.
