Chapter 119 - II
Bang—
There was a sound as the door was suddenly kicked open. Under the moonlight, the shadow of a huge ginseng fell on the ground. “Is it my baby?”
“Daddy!” the little ginseng cheered and slid to the ground.
The little snake watched as the little ginseng pounced toward the big ginseng, and the two ginsengs grew together in an instant.
The little ginseng waved to the little snake. “I found my daddy! Thank you, benefactor!”
The big ginseng bowed to the little snake. “Thank you so much for your kindness. I wish you a family reunion and happiness.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the pair of ginsengs disappeared into the ground.
The little snake stayed there for a while, then slowly climbed down from the cupboard, walked out of the room, and carefully closed the door with his tail. Well, he also missed home, and he wanted to see his two fathers as soon as possible.
The little snake was looking up at the moon and thinking about his hometown when he suddenly smelled the breath of Xie Zuo. He immediately flew into the sky excitedly. “Daddy, daddy!”
It was Xie Zuo and Huo Yao who came to pick up the little snake. Xie Zuo reached out and hugged the little snake tightly in his arms. “You scared me to death. Why did you come here?” he asked.
The little snake rolled around in Xie Zuo’s arms and played coquettishly for a while. “I won’t do it next time. I have to tell you first wherever I go, right?”
Huo Yao nodded. “That’s right.”
The family was about to leave when the little snake suddenly said, “Wait a minute.”
The little snake flew down, crawled back to the fisherman’s hut, placed a scale he had rubbed off on the altar table, and then went home with his fathers.
The scale flickered on the altar table and turned into a small snake of pure gold.
Xie Zuo and Huo Yao successfully brought back the little snake, and a group of worried adults on the island finally felt relieved.
After hearing what had happened to the little snake, Xie Zuo decided to set up a protective barrier around the island to prevent any more mortal fishermen from accidentally breaking in. This time, the fisherman had been lucky to catch only a small snake. If other monsters had been caught, it might have brought harm to the whole family.
After working on the barrier for most of the night, the reunion dinner had almost gone cold. Rain Deity Lin returned to the pot to heat it up again and called out, “It’s not too late to have a good meal. As long as everyone is safe and reunited, come and eat!”
Xie Zuo’s family shared a table with Wu Xiao and Lin, another table with the Nine Demon Attendants, and a third table with uninvited Asura guards. Just as the large group was about to start eating, another unexpected guest arrived.
A woodcutter with an axe stuck to his waist suddenly appeared at the door, shouting loudly, “My man has forced me to come and congratulate you. Can you let me in for a glass of wine?”
Xie Zuo and Huo Yao welcomed the woodcutter inside.
When Lin saw the woodcutter, he stood up suddenly. “Emperor… Emperor… Emperor!”
The woodcutter waved his hand dismissively. “There is no emperor anymore. The southern country has fallen to the wolves. I am just a forest ranger now.”
Xie Zuo glanced at the axe strapped to the woodcutter’s back. A forest ranger? That axe looked far too sharp for such a simple role.
Back on Yuzhao Mountain, Xie Zuo had already guessed the true identity of the woodcutter—he was the former Southern Emperor, Yun Jue.
Yun Jue drank a large bowl of wine and sighed with satisfaction. “Good wine!”
Huo Yao left him to enjoy his drink and said, “Have dinner with us.”
“No,” Yun Jue shook his head. “I didn’t want to come in the first place. It’s too much trouble. Mu Rong insisted I come. Ugh, he’s so good at acting like a baby now.”
Xie Zuo’s expression brightened. “Mu Rong’s spiritual consciousness has recovered?”
Yun Jue glanced at Xie Zuo warily. “It has, but don’t disturb us. He needs to rest.”
Xie Zuo frowned. “I’m his brother. Why can’t I visit him?”
Yun Jue snorted. “We’re busy. Qing Shuang and the others are using Mu Rong’s clones for rebirth. Don’t come, just don’t.”
“You—!” Xie Zuo was about to argue further when Yun Jue laughed and vanished. He had come and gone so unexpectedly.
Everyone sat down again and was about to have a drink together when Xie Zuo suddenly stood up and ran into the room. Seeing this, Huo Yao quickly got up and chased after him.
Everyone looked at each other, craning their necks to see what was going on.
After a while, the two of them finally came out.
Xie Zuo held a baby in his arms, his face full of joy and excitement. Huo Yao held Xie Zuo with his right hand and held a little girl with silver hair hanging down on the ground in his left hand.
This was…
The little snake rushed forward, quickly climbed onto Huo Yao’s shoulder, and looked out.
The baby in Xie Zuo’s arms was observing the surroundings with big, watery eyes. Suddenly, he saw the little snake and smiled brightly at him.
The second child… The little snake felt a complicated mix of emotions. The second child had woken up and had finally come to compete for favour.
Huo Yao looked at the three children surrounding them and felt very proud. He introduced them to everyone. “Xie Jiao, our eldest daughter, has just transformed.”
Xie Jiao saluted everyone generously.
Everyone was amazed by Xie Jiao. This little girl was so beautiful and cute at such a young age. Who knew what kind of style she would have when she grew up!
The Nine Demon Attendants had mixed feelings in their hearts: This aura seemed to resemble another Xie Xiao.
Huo Yao then introduced his two biological children to everyone. “Xie Zuo gave birth to a pair of twins for me. The second one has also woken up today. The eldest… uh,” Huo Yao got stuck, “the second one…”
Oops, the usually calm and restrained Deity of Thunder had panicked. No wonder he always felt that he had forgotten something—he had forgotten to name the children!
Xie Zuo bumped him with his elbow. “Let’s call him like this for now. We’ll think about it tomorrow. Let’s eat first.”
Huo Yao smiled. “Okay, let’s eat first.”
Reunion dinner. What a reunion.
