Chapter 146: Our Sword Sect Takes Full Responsibility
This booklet, in essence, is a will, a legacy.
The old Celestial Master lay dormant here, indeed, as Taoist Jin said, to live a second life against the natural order.
But the matter of the Red Dust Immortal was the old Celestial Master boasting.
What he actually wanted to do was disperse his Cultivation, then walk the Taoist Path again, seeking a celestial path beyond Dragon Tiger Mountain's Taoist Technique.
This matter defies the heavens, the old Celestial Master could calculate everything but himself, and he didn't know if this endeavor could succeed.
So he left some contingencies, Tang is one, this will is another, as are Huang Silang and the seven Six Paths Immortals.
The cause of this incident, and why it turned into the present situation, truly lies with the Sword Sect.
The cause was a while ago, more than a hundred and sixty years ago.
The old Celestial Master got lost in Cyan Thorn, and conveniently went to the Sword Pavilion for a cup of tea, and also to chat with Zhengyi.
The matter of Zhengyi's leg, the old Celestial Master naturally knew about it, so the topic turned to the Six Sects being stuck at the Mahayana path.
No one knows what Zhengyi said exactly, but at the end of the conversation, the old Celestial Master felt Zhengyi was mocking him.
Mocking him for fearing death, mocking him for being reluctant to part with his Mahayana Cultivation.
So, in a fit of anger, the old Celestial Master got angry.
Because he indeed was reluctant to give up this Cultivation, Zhengyi was not wrong.
Though he wasn't wrong, anger is still inevitable, and the shrewd old Celestial Master, spurred by Zhengyi's mockery, came up with an idea.
Since I can't part with this Cultivation, why not temporarily store it?
If the new path doesn't work out, he could restore this Cultivation to himself.
Having decided, the old Celestial Master left Cyan Thorn and came to this empty tomb in Diannan to start his grand plan.
Those Big Head Taoists were the containers where the old Celestial Master stored his Cultivation.
But such an unprecedented idea was the first for the old Celestial Master, so he encountered some issues.
The last step he had to take might cost him his life.
Even if it didn't, and he succeeded, if he decided to go back on his plan, he likely couldn't return to the Mahayana as he initially imagined.
It would only reach Divinity Transformation, and there would be hidden risks.
The method the old Celestial Master devised wasn't as safe as he thought.
Thus, the old Celestial Master hesitated for a hundred years in this place, and when he couldn't sleep, he could only read the Yellow Book to help.
What finally resolved the old Celestial Master's indecision was Zhang Ze.
Or rather, Zhang Ze's ragged book "Taoist Path to Heaven."
With a book, there's bound to be a pirated version, and coincidentally, Diannan's bookstores happen to have pirated copies of the first and second volumes of "Taoist Path to Heaven."
When Liu Dahai submitted tributes recently, these two pirated books happened to be mixed in.
Just like the little monk wrestling with the jujube tree issue, the old Celestial Master also saw something else in the book.
He found the phrase 'defying the heavens for nine lives, becoming an immortal in the red dust' truly wondrous.
So wondrous, it's indescribable, so just a few days ago, the old Celestial Master decided to take the last step.
First, try living a second life.
The record in the first half of this booklet is like this, and the latter part is the old Celestial Master's legacy and instructions.
He especially mentioned that if he dies, remember to burn the latter volumes of "Taoist Path to Heaven" for him.
Zhang Ze put away the booklet, not expecting the book he copied to have such an impact.
"Objectively speaking, I think the main responsibility should be the Pavilion Master, and I hold only secondary responsibility," Zhang Ze argued on his behalf.
Li squirmed in Zhang Ze's arms, looking up at him, "But if you hadn't written that ragged book, things wouldn't have turned out like this."
Zhang Ze handed the booklet back to Tang and turned to ask Taoist Jin, "Has the old Celestial Master not succeeded yet?"
"The old Celestial Master said he would light a..." Taoist Jin trailed off.
"A piece of Spiritual Incense. If the incense breaks, then the master's life is ended."
"If the incense burns out, then the task is completed, and the stone door must be opened to welcome the master out."
The Yin and Yang big heads spoke alternately.
"I think the Six Paths Immortals combination won't do without these two," Li murmured.
Zhang Ze nodded in agreement, "Where's the Spiritual Incense?" Zhang Ze quickly asked.
The big heads, including the Yin and Yang two, were momentarily dazed, looking like they were drooling even after being cured.
"The Spiritual Incense burns for three days, is today the third, fourth, or fifth day..."
"Where did you put it?"
"I forgot..."
The Seven Six Paths Immortals began counting days on their fingers, and Zhang Ze and Tang felt a wave of unease welling up in their hearts.
Zhang Ze suddenly realized a fact, these big heads can't count.
Tang, being a man of action, immediately started searching within the stone cavern and quickly found a small Incense Burner in the corner.
Good news, the Spiritual Incense wasn't broken.
Bad news, it wasn't clear how many days the Spiritual Incense had been out.
Now, the old Celestial Master had lost his Cultivation entirely, had long lost his fasting ability, and it wasn't known if he had any food with him.
If the old Celestial Master starved to death behind the stone door, that would be tragic.
"Quick, open the door!" Huang Silang shouted.
The old Celestial Master arranged this issue while it wasn't around; when it returned, it only knew the old Celestial Master was undertaking something significant.
It didn't ask about the details because, after a hundred years of dealings, it knew questioning those big heads wouldn't lead to clarity.
But unexpectedly, these big heads turned out to be this muddled.
"Oh, alright." Saying so, the big heads assumed the Turtle Style Qi Skill stance, ready to blast open the stone door.
"Stop, stop, stop! If the old Celestial Master scratches the door on the other side and you do this, the old Celestial Master will truly be dead," Zhang Ze immediately shouted to stop them.
Li wanted to Earth Escape through the stone door directly but was bounced back.
The big head Taoists then integrated once more and quickly recalled the correct method to open the stone door.
They flashed forward to the stone door, placed their hands on the ground, and injected the Yin Yang Two Qi and the power of the five elements into the Array beneath them.
The Array locking the stone door disintegrated, and the big heads simultaneously exerted force, lifting the stone door.
Zhang Ze and Tang slid right in as soon as there was a gap in the stone door.
They then witnessed a bizarre scene.
Behind the stone door was a burial chamber.
The main coffin of the burial chamber, with its lid wide open, had a Taoist wearing a Taoist Robe crawling inside it, seemingly trying to escape from some danger.
A black, gaunt monster, like a dried corpse, was grabbing the Taoist's calf, seemingly trying to pull him out.
They both had their backs to Zhang Ze and Tang, but they heard the noise of the stone door opening.
The dried corpse was momentarily startled, providing the Taoist the opportunity to kick it in the chest, forcing it to stagger back a few steps, nearly falling.
The Taoist seized the chance to crawl into the coffin, pulling the lid close to hide.
The dry corpse let out a bizarre sound of confusion, but was kicked by the Taoist, "Don't you dare hurt my grandfather!" Tang shouted, making a spell, summoning his Taoist Sword.
He then charged forward, but his attacks hit a Qi Array, not harming the dry corpse at all.
Soon the stone door opened entirely, and the Big Heads saw the scene inside the burial chamber.
The two leading Yin Yang big heads said alternately, "Don't harm my master!"
Huang Silang shouted without being outdone, "Hey, don't fear, master, I'm here to help!"
With that, it also lunged forward, aiming the small spear at the sole of the dry corpse's foot.
So...
"Damn it, stop! You guys are hitting the old Celestial Master!" Zhang Ze dashed forward, stopping Tang, who was about to avenge his grandpa.
