Who is Playing the Love Development Game in Gundam

Chapter 166: Chapter 166: The Mendel Expedition

"The company's dividends are all spent again..."

He Kui grimaced as he looked at the sleek vehicle in the garage. PS armor was out of the question, but he had opted for a layered armor design. Though its heat dissipation wasn't great due to its size, it could at least withstand a pulse cannon shot and several beam rifle shots.

Its internal power source was sufficient for two hours of full-speed operation, and in energy-saving mode using inertia, it could even drift to the moon.

"Next step is to apply for a departure permit and head to Julius Seven."

"But who will pilot it?"

"Haro~?"

The black Haro on the table rolled cooperatively towards He Kui.

"Not yet, you can't pilot it."

He Kui stretched and then took Haro upstairs to the third floor.

In the living room, Shi He was at the computer, working on the upcoming beam weapon test plan for the Gates.

"Shi He, the escape pod is ready."

"Finally finished?"

Shi He looked up, excited.

"I'll inform the director to have this escape pod registered in the friendly identification system."

"And I'm going to visit the DSSD space station in L4 for two days the day after tomorrow."

His regular visits to DSSD were due soon.

Though called regular visits, he went at his leisure, once or twice a month.

Besides PLANT's relative freedom, it was to ensure no pattern was detected by potential assassins. They didn't know who was going or the exact time, maximizing his safety.

Of course, some protection was necessary, and he'd take the GINN along.

"I want to go too!"

Shi He raised her hand.

"But there's a weapon experiment to complete; it's only two days."

"Then take the GINN!"

"I will, and Iron Wall and the others will come too, don't worry."

He Kui leaned his head towards Shi He.

"Still working!"

Shi He playfully protested, knowing what he wanted.

"Just a sniff~"

Lingering at Shi He's delicate neck for a moment, He Kui stood up again.

With the trip approaching, he had much to prepare.

And Mendel.

Hopefully, he could find some clues there.

Two days later, after settling affairs, He Kui set off for the DSSD space station in L4.

The journey wasn't long. He could rest within PLANT territory, but once outside, he sat in his GINN.

Though cramped, it was safe.

If attacked, he could react immediately.

The ship he took lacked a beam shield system.

After a long journey cramped in the cockpit, He Kui finally arrived at DSSD's space station.

As he stepped off the ship, Serena came to greet him.

The poised and mature woman was more striking than ever, her lab coat highlighting her tall figure, exuding a mature charm.

"Miss Serena, long time no see."

"Director He."

Seeing Iron Wall and the others following He Kui, Serena graciously refrained from commenting, leading him inside.

"So, Director He, shall we check the research first or rest?"

"Let's check the research."

"Captain Iron Wall."

Years of mutual understanding allowed He Kui and Iron Wall to communicate with just a glance.

Iron Wall nodded.

"Be careful, Director He. We'll be on standby on the ship."

"No problem."

"Miss Serena, there's a GINN here now, right?"

"Compared to the newly debuted Gates at the Integrated Design Bureau, the GINN is nothing."

Serena modestly replied, only giving He Kui a playful eye-roll after Iron Wall and his team left.

"With your bodyguards so close, how do you plan to visit Mendel?"

He Kui knew their research progress and didn't need to come personally.

"Let's go now."

"What if I said I'm not ready that quickly~"

Serena shrugged.

"If it's you, Serena, I'm sure you've already prepared."

He knew Serena's research progress well and had no need to come in person, so she must have guessed his plan upon learning of his visit.

Naturally, she'd prepare a ship in advance.

"You really trust me."

"You're my ally, after all."

Hearing the word "ally," Serena's demeanor softened slightly.

"I have a small ship ready, but aside from a Gatling in the work cabin, it has no defensive capabilities."

"That's fine."

"Then let's go."

Pleased with He Kui's straightforwardness, Serena opened a different door in the lounge from their arrival.

"After the last attack, we made a few interior modifications, including a secret escape port."

"I wasn't planning for anyone to know."

"I won't tell."

"That's good."

Seeing He Kui's understanding, Serena chose to trust the young man.

After all, they were in the same boat.

Though young, he had depth, making him a great partner.

Just had to be careful not to be outsmarted.

With varied thoughts, they soon reached the secret dock, where several sleek small shuttles were docked.

Though He Kui hadn't seen this type of shuttle before, its spearhead-like shape suggested it was similar to his escape pod.

Both were speed and defense-specialized escape ships.

"Come on in."

Serena opened the shuttle's rounded side door.

"Is this a new type of shuttle?"

"It has no armament. It can hold up to a hundred people in an escape, typically needing three crew members, but in emergencies, one person can operate it with AI assistance."

"Can AI pilot it alone?"

"No, not yet. It still requires human decisions. Even a self-learning AI would need tens of thousands of hours to master it."

"Alright."

They moved to the craft's cockpit.

Designed for a minimal crew, the cockpit had five seats—two on each side and the captain's seat in the center.

Their command post was atop the ship.

"Eight sets of thermonuclear pulse engines—technology from the Archangel, right?"

Looking at the engine info on the console, He Kui mused.

"Derived from nuclear engines, using laser ignition to avoid neutron jammer interference. You can have it if you like."

"Then I won't be shy."

It'd make a nice offering—this engine was quite good.

Shame it couldn't be used in MS.

As they finished speaking, the s

ystem self-check completed.

Serena sat at the console, with He Kui beside her at the radar position.

"Shall we head out?"

Serena started the engines and asked for confirmation.

"Let's go."
