Chapter 46: Do You Know What This Means?
My goodness...
When Rocky finally arrived at the scene and saw the vast emptiness as if it had evaporated into thin air, even someone as well-experienced as he couldn't help but widen his eyes in surprise.
Rocky had always known that Isaiah was very powerful, the number one in the Star Relic Sect, but he also thought he wouldn't be much stronger than himself. Plus, with the help of Corpse Blocks, if a fight were to occur, it would be at least a 50-50 or 60-40 situation, right? At the worst, maybe a 30-70 split?
But the scene before him fiercely slapped Rocky in the face. The blinding white light from before left his eyes still a bit dizzy, making him wonder whether he could withstand it if he were to fight Isaiah.
It seemed unlikely.
But this is just too outrageous. The old guy didn't have any Corpse Blocks, yet he could achieve such a level?
Is this the power of a Star Relic Magician?
But tonight's sky isn't even good, barely a few stars can be seen. In such an environment, Isaiah could still fight like this. What would it be like on a true Innocent Night?
Thinking of this, Rocky couldn't help but look at Isaiah with a tinge of awe in his eyes. At this moment, Isaiah gave him a glance, and what seemed like just an ordinary gaze made the spirited young man Rocky stand at attention and greeted respectfully, "Mr. Isaiah, you've worked hard."
It's probably fortunate they're allies, otherwise killing him might have been too easy.
In this regard, Rocky was self-aware enough.
Isaiah responded with a simple "Hmm," making it hard to discern what he was thinking, not even responding to his student Mina's inquiries, only looking at the various approaching allied forces.
There were Star Relic Magicians, Rhein Knights, Eternal Nightmare Dream Weavers, Guardians from Contract Land, and some survivors of the Black Merchants.
After all, the earlier commotion was too significant, naturally alarming the various forces stationed around.
Isaiah's gaze swept over each faction and then, seemingly by chance, glanced at Rocky again, but ultimately did nothing.
"Mr. Isaiah." Fenris of Eternal Nightmare stepped forward and asked respectfully, "Have you already dealt with those two fugitives?"
Isn't this obvious?
Rocky couldn't help but retort in his mind.
With things as they were, could those two guys possibly be undying?
Thinking of that damned Yin Yang Man being blasted to bits by the searing light just now, Rocky felt a wave of satisfaction, as if even his right hand, which had lost four fingers, no longer hurt.
Next, it should be the backstabbing phase to divide Corpse Blocks.
Rocky looked again at the void behind Isaiah.
Clearly, nothing was left of the Yin Yang Man's skeleton, but Visas's Corpse Blocks must still be there. There is no method in the world that can destroy Corpse Blocks.
Rocky's initial thought was to show up when Isaiah was fighting to appear familiar, claim a bit of credit, and thus have a chance to share the Corpse Blocks. The reality, however, was that he hadn't even arrived when Isaiah had already finished the fight. This left him in an awkward position.
But Rocky wasn't worried that Isaiah would keep them for himself.
After all, those are three Corpse Blocks; even if Isaiah were incredibly bold, it's absolutely impossible...
"No, the ones I fought were not those two fugitives."
Everyone was stunned.
Fenris was very surprised: "Not those two fugitives?"
Isaiah responded with a simple "Hmm." "Tonight, I never encountered the Seven-Tone Player you mentioned nor the scholar who possesses taboo knowledge. They were never here. I fought with a madman who came out of nowhere. His target wasn't me but the Black Merchants here. I stepped in to save those Black Merchants."
Hearing this, everyone, including Mina, looked at each other, thinking Isaiah was joking.
"This, how is this possible?" Mina said, "Teacher, are you..."
"Enough." Isaiah didn't bother to explain further and turned to leave immediately, "I'm already tired. Leave the cleanup to you guys."
This sudden change left everyone bewildered, but they couldn't just stop Isaiah, so they watched him leave. Subsequently, Mina led the Star Relic Magicians in pursuit, leaving Rocky and Fenris at the scene without a clue.
"What does this mean?" Fenris asked Rocky, "If not the Seven-Tone Player and Edwin, then who could it be?"
"Why are you asking me? How would I know?" Once Isaiah left, Rocky no longer had to act like a good student and immediately furrowed his brow, "What nonsense is the old man spouting?"
They had followed the Tongue all the way here, and now Isaiah said he didn't deal with the Tongue?
If not the Tongue, who else could possibly fight Isaiah to such an extent?
And saying the opponent came for the Black Merchants, and he was defending them... What bizarre reasoning is that?
Where are the Black Merchants? Why is there nothing left of them?
What exactly did you protect?
Moreover, Rocky was sure that Isaiah was lying. After all, during Isaiah's battle, he could feel that unrestrained power belonging to Visas.
But he didn't understand why Isaiah would lie...
Hmm?
Rocky thought of something, squinting his eyes slightly and murmured, "Old man, do you really intend to hog all three Corpse Blocks..."
...
"Teacher, teacher!" Mina quickly caught up to Isaiah, "Please wait for me."
