Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?

Chapter 495: Ancestors of the Soul as Numerous as Hemp

The battle in the spiritual world is a bit different from the real world.

Even though it's still a fight and wounds appear on the body, the two sides aren't using real weapons. Instead, it's more like various forms of spiritual attacks.

The one whose spirit first can't withstand the attack and reveals a flaw is the loser!

Just like when the Insect King attacked Uffie's mind, it unearthed memories from her childhood that she least wanted to confront, causing her defenses to break down. As a result, it took control of her body, and she is still not awake.

Apart from using embarrassing history to break defenses, another form of attack is to directly use spiritual power to strike the enemy, possibly causing hallucinations or auditory illusions.

Anyway, the approach is as mystical as possible.

"Is this wolf what Dal's inner self looks like?" After invading the spirit, the Insect King learned Dal's name.

Everyone has a true image of themselves in their heart; some maintain a human form, while others have various appearances, even pigeons or eunuchs echoing endlessly.

The gray wolf clutching a Great Sword, at first glance, seemed oddly fitting to the Insect King's impression of Dal.

Moreover, this gray wolf gave a more intense feeling than Dal himself, an aura ancient, aged, yet mysterious and unpredictable.

Strange, how could the inner image of a human no more than thirty years old possess such a temperament?

Before the howl of the gray wolf sounded.

The Insect King's mind flashed many dusty memories.

"The last time I encountered such a serious inner presence was a certain human, it's been so long, I don't remember."

The Insect King seemed to recall something, as the head of the insect showed a human-like sentiment and then said, "I wonder if he has any descendants, having finally left this damned Dungeon, I must properly entertain his descendants."

The Sealed Items of the Dungeon are diverse; some live through the years within the seal, while others, having no consciousness, are unaware of their sealed state.

The vast majority of Hidden Blood Parasites lack advanced consciousness and were entirely unaware of their sealed state when stuck inside the Dungeon.

The only one fully aware of their clan's sealing was the Insect King.

It didn't know how long it could survive in the seal, but having drained all intelligent mutated species and forced all parasites into hibernation, the consumption was negligible and it could survive for millennia.

Yet even so, it nearly lost its consciousness inside the seal, ultimately choosing to transform into dormant insect eggs, a state almost indistinguishable from death, where survival was contingent on rebirth.

Thus, it waited, until one day, the cursed seal in the Dungeon finally broke, only for the Dungeon itself to remain intact.

It wasn't until an Evil God propositioned it, offering to transform the parasites into His Favored in exchange for affecting the seal that lost the Dungeon's protection, that the Insect King re-emerged.

To become the Evil God's Favored? Even if it meant sacrificing its whole clan with only it surviving, merely escaping the Dungeon made it one-hundred percent willing!

"Previously busy with rebirth and indifferent to the Dungeon," its expression conjoined anger and pride, "after killing these humans, I'll crush that Dungeon to dust!"

What it didn't know was that its desire to return to the Dungeon and utterly destroy it was subtly influenced by the Dungeon's draw toward the Sealed Items.

Even as the clan's sole entity with a conception of the Dungeon and Sealed Items, the Insect King was unconsciously impacted by the Dungeon without sensing anything amiss.

"Alright, come on, a brand new body!"

It gazed greedily at the gray wolf before it, suddenly unleashing a powerful spiritual shock, not with full force but enough to render even skilled masters into nonsensically babbling fools!

However, quicker than its spiritual shock was a wolf howl from the gray wolf.

"Howl!"

Not ostentatiously announced, nor loudly shouted, the gray wolf seemed to merely give a casual low howl.

Yet this howl was faster than the spiritual shock, carrying an invisible force like a sonic boom straight to the Insect King.

"What!"

The large body of the Insect King was flipped over as if it were a beetle blown away by a hairdryer!

At that moment, it suddenly realized something:

Not right!

This gray wolf is not the human's inner image, but something else!

However, when struck by the wolf's howl, multiple completely different scenes abruptly surfaced in its mind.

The giant gray wolf with a Great Sword executed beastly fierce attacks surpassing human swordsmanship, each strike with the Great Sword aimed fatally.

Several Fran Undead Team members performed a deadly sword dance against it, the Fran Greatsword effortlessly shattered its prized exoskeleton.

These were just images flashing through its mind, yet the wounds were real, leaving the Insect King in tatters for an instant!

The entire Spiritual Space stuttered momentarily, and the tattered Insect King was restored to its original state, but with a newfound weariness and an undeniable fear in its eyes, clearly having expended spiritual power to heal its wounds.
