White Star: Convergence

Chapter 5: Passing the Time

Dahlia woke up still sore from healing his wounds and jumped up out the bed almost forgetting that she was in a empty land.

'Guess I'll get some fruit from those trees and berries we saw earlier I guess'

She picked fruits and berries and filled the gallon with river water as well as washing the fruit before returning to the house and once she returned she sat onto one of two seats at the dinner table and ate the fruits she picked.

'Jeez we need actual food.'

After having her fill of two green spiked soft ball sized fruits she headed back upstairs to see if Azadi had awoken.

"Dahlia"

Hearing his voice she looks at him from the door frame.

"Yes?"

A blank expression on his face

"Why can't I move Dahlia"

Barely able to contain her laughter knowing this would happen after she purposely chose not to heal his spine.

"I- I don't know"

She let out a snicker before telling him how he ended up like this.

"So umm.. can you heal me?"

With a smile on her face.

"I don't wanna."

Now his voice a bit more desperate.

"Please?"

She let out a laugh before agreeing to his plea.

"Well I can't heal all of it and I'm pretty sure I'll be drained after healing your spine but even after that I doubt you'll be able to walk with how many muscles are just straight up eviserated. So umm how much energy you have right now maybe you can heal yourself?"

After letting out a sigh he answered.

"I… don't have any.."

A bit ticked off now as she was hoping she wouldint need to spend to much energy healing him.

"Hmm I wonder why it's almost like you made a whole two story house with a BASEMENT and POWER. If it wasn't for me repairing that puncture it gave you in your lung you would have been dead. You're lucky it was a pretty small puncture too if it was a bit bigger I don't think I could have repaired it. I don't know why you did that"

He groaned before asking her for another heal in which she reluctantly agreed to.

After a week of being healed Azadi was once again able to walk and move around freely.

In this time Dahlia's growth in her abilities exploded allowing her to summon and manipulate plants way better than Azadi can make his dreams comes true.

"Woohoo! I'm free!"

Dahlia who now hated this idiot because she did just have to be his caretaker for a week straight was delighted that he could move again.

"Yeah yeah. How should we find our families huh? Or just other people in general not like we two can just stay here and be fine afterall we are just kids."

Azadi looked at her confused.

"Umm I can move but my ability energy is barely there so let's stay here a bit longer plus after healing my decimated body for a week I doubt you are doing to good on energy reserves either."

She thought about it and agreed with this sentiment, after all she did feel sluggish and a little sore.

***

Azadi had still been practicing and figuring out how his ability worked inside the house restoring it more and more since there isn't much else to do.

'Hmm so I can just make stuff up by "daydreaming" it up but that's a whole lot more energy and focus not really worth it. No wonder those explosion just drained my energy after only two. I can't just start abusing abilities, the rebound from it is no joke so I have to be careful of which dreams I use. Organic things seem to be temporary unlike the house behind me no matter how hard I try it won't stay same with any ability I conjure up. Abilities also seem to be one time use unless I've dreamt if it more than once.'

This new information took him three days to gather and he still had more to test.

"Ugggh this is s confusing!"

Though he was frustrated by the complexities of the ability and how the energy drain from it was nuisance he still found it enjoyable and wanted to officially try it out on those creatures that came from the night.

Now with newfound confidence and understanding in his abilities he waited for nightfall to test them.

"Wanna help?"

Dahlia who was in the bed grumbled.

"Fine but only because you need a healer in case you get hurt plus I've been making sure we are safe for a while"

Azadi was confused by he comment but ignored it.

They made their way outside and for the first time in a week and a half they were once again under the night sky in which looked very strange.

There was a bright shining ball in the sky illuminating the field in which they stood.

"Huh that's.. okay."

They were in awe by it.

It was almost like a second sun up in the sky .

Before long a creature of night came up to them, which was exactly what he wanted.

"I got this okay, you just sit back and watch Dahlia"

He spawned a chair for her to sit in and approached the beast, he quickly used his ability to give himself steel like skin before lunging at the creature.

'It's the same type of beast that I fought last time huh'

In that moment he smiled.

"By the way Az those things are called cragjaw wolves, I fought a couple while you were out of comission because they were being annoying and got curious so I checked with the lense to see if it would give some info on them."

He found the nickname a little annoying but payed it no mind.

'Cragjaw? Neat.'

The Cragjaw proceeded to snatch him up in it's mouth as he made a reckless charge towards him but unable to pierce his skin he thre him away.

He was slammed against a tree but got up with little inju.

'Damn these guys are tough, should have known I can't just beat them that easily even with steel skin and for some reason enhanced body. I'll use a strong one then'

He then pointed finger guns at the wolf's head with a smile. The wolf was currently galloping towards him and right before it was about to pounce.

"Bang!"

A small ball of energy quickly formed on his fingertip and shot out leaving behind a small trail of orange energy before colliding with the wolf's head and exploding on contact turning its head into nothing but splatters on the ground.

'Augh it got on me.'

He wiped some of the corpse off himself.

'Didn't expect explosions to cost this much jeez that was like 1/4 of my reserves'

Before he could ponder further Dahlia clapped her hands in delight on the chair at the spectacle.

"Good job Az although I'd say it was a bit rough the way you did it."

He grumbled at the remark before responding back.

"Oh? And can you do any better huh?"

She smiled and quickly leapt up from the elegant wooden chair he had made.

"Wanna see?"

Azhadi proceeded to sit down in the chair instead curious to see what she meant. Lucky for them that explosion he caused had caused two more Cragjaws to apear from the forest. The perfect test subjects.

Dahlia summoned some plants from the ground and woven from these very plants was a decently sized dagger that now rested in her hand.

Her body moved like a snake slithering through the field.

This was way too much growth for just ten days more of practice than him.

She slithered next to the beasts and jumped from the field to it's throat slicing through it with the dagger as if it was the softest thing in the world. Right after slitting it's throat she quickly climbed the other one and already had her fang at its neck.

It too had its neck slit open before she jumped from its back up into the air and commanded the plants to create cushioning next to azhadi in which she landed in before causing it to rise up so that she could sit in the flower which contained the cushioning so that she could look at the two beast who were not dead quite yet but were writhing on the ground in pain.

"Those guys are scary even a slit throat won't kill them."

These words confused him as the Cragjaws were clearly dying but before he could question it she had already answered.

"The dagger has a pretty strong poison to it so after I slice them even if they can survive the wound the poison usually finishes them off you see"

She pointed towards the poor creatures.

The Cragjaws went limp and dead after struggling on the floor.

"H- How did you get that strong after just ten days!"

Dahlia looked at him confused before realizing she never explained.

"I thought you would already know since you killed that big guy on our first day but I guess you passed out before you realized but anytime we kill something you can feel it can't you? The way our body gets a bit stronger? The way our reserves get a bit larger? After blowing that guy to bits you must have noticed."

He looked at the corpse of the one he hunted and he did indeed feel a rush of energy when he had.

"Yeah you definitely noticed but yeah when you were recovering these guys kept pulling up to the house, the first few times were strong and difficult to deal with so I just lead them away. The second day I was able to kill two of them by running them through with plants and after that I just kept getting better and better. Eventually figured out how to make this dagger right here and I'd say including these two I've killed like twelve of them so that's probably why I have such a edge compared to you."

Azadi processed this new information on how they could increase their strength before venturing out to find people.

"How much longer you want to stay?"

Dahlia pondered for a bit and came to a conclusion.

"My birthday is in like two weeks so how about after that and till then I feel like we should probably practice right? Like we have no idea what other creatures besides just those guys in the forest. Actually I've seen a couple of huge birds fly by every now and then, they might even be able to pick us up y'know."

Az agreeing with this sentiment said:

"Yeah that seems like a good time to leave. You're right too if we can grow this good with our powers well you grow this much in just ten days after two more weeks we should be good enough to travel to that city all the way over there."

He pointed to the city in the horizon before saying:

"Ughh it's so far away too"

After this they went back inside to get some sleep after all he hated not getting his sleep.
