Chapter 26: Fleeting paradise
I dream of paradise, a field so fair,
With wildflowers blooming everywhere.
Each hue unique, so bright, so true,
Beneath a sun that warms, not stews.
A place where sunsets paint the skies,
And northern lights dance before my eyes.
A world where day and night align,
A haven so serene, so divine.
But then I'm snapped back, harsh and real,
To a life where colors lose their zeal.
The weight of sorrow fills my chest,
An aching void that grants no rest.
I close my eyes and drift away,
To where my dreams keep pain at bay.
Yet even there, the shadows creep,
In nightmares vast, they hunt, they leap.
Monsters feast on fears I hide,
Dragging me to the depths inside.
Escaping seems a futile fight,
With every step, I lose my light.
Though lessons learned and pills are near,
They cannot soothe this endless fear.
So, I daydream of a brighter shore,
A fleeting break from this endless war.
How many pauses must I take,
Before this heavy heart can wake?
Until the storm within subsides,
And peace at last will fill my skies.
