Whispers of the Cosmos

Chapter 7: Eternal Nectar

Aeros lounged in a luxurious, reclined chair as their vessel glided silently through the void. The magic-infused craft, one of Serus' many treasures, pulsed with a faint, otherworldly light. Though Aeros didn't know its exact grade, the sheer comfort and seamless travel it provided spoke volumes of its value. Across from him, Serus sat cross-legged, deep in meditation, his features calm and composed. The gentle hum of the void travel surrounded them, a rhythmic pulse that seemed to echo the flow of time itself.

Serus had already explained the details of their mission. Their destination was the Eternal Spirit World, a middle-tier realm brimming with spiritual energy and teeming with cultivators striving for power. Using specialized methods, the great sects of the Eternal Spirit World were already aware of their impending arrival. The dissemination of information across planes was no small feat, but in the Nebula Universe, the Stormhavens—a supreme clan—had perfected such techniques over the eons. The clan's influence extended to countless worlds through their descendants and branch clans, many of whom had established footholds in lower planes. One such sect, the Beast Reign Sect, had a storied history in the Eternal Spirit World, stretching back thousands of years.

Weeks earlier, Serus had contacted an elder of the Beast Reign Sect to arrange preparations for the trial. The elder's cooperation ensured a smooth entry into the Eternal Spirit World and set the stage for an exceptional test. This trial would align with an important event: the sects' periodic competition for the Eternal Nectar.

The Eternal Nectar was no ordinary resource. A shimmering liquid imbued with a radiant, ethereal glow that danced with hues of gold and silver, its aura exuded boundless vitality and spiritual energy. Legends said a single drop could propel a cultivator decades forward in their path, enhancing spiritual powers and granting formidable physiques. Yet, the nectar was unfathomably rare. Only one drop would form every seventy years, secreted by the heart of the Sacred Blossom, a mystical flower that thrived deep within the Thunder Bark Forest. No single sect had ever claimed exclusive dominion over this invaluable resource. Instead, an alliance of supreme sects maintained a fragile balance, ensuring that the nectar's harvest did not tip the scales of power too drastically.

This year, the competition would take the form of a grand game: capture the banner. The first stage was set in the Micro Colosseum, a sprawling arena divided into five elemental zones—Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Void. Each zone posed unique environmental hazards and elemental trials designed to test the adaptability and mastery of the participants. Teams would navigate these treacherous landscapes to seize their opponents' banners, employing strategy and skill to triumph.

Serus had provided Aeros with a detailed outline of the competition. The young cultivator absorbed every word, his mind sharpening with anticipation.

"Millions of cultivators will participate in this trial," Serus said calmly, his eyes half-lidded as though still meditating. "Though for you, this is only the first portion of your trials, every competitor will see you as an obstacle to overcome. Your background has been carefully concealed."

Aeros tilted his head, curiosity glinting in his eyes. "What do they believe about me?"

"They'll assume you're from a noble lineage of some outer world," Serus replied, his tone matter-of-fact. "Your true identity will remain hidden. It's better this way."

Aeros nodded with a faint smile. "I prefer it that way. What's the point if the trial's a cakewalk?" His gaze sharpened, determination flickering like a steady flame. "The equipment and cultivation restrictions will make it more challenging, but that's where growth happens."

Serus' lips curved slightly, a rare display of approval. "Good. The Eternal Nectar competition is as much a test of character as it is of skill. The zones within the Micro Colosseum will exploit every weakness—physical, mental, and spiritual. Each challenge is a reflection of your preparation."

As their craft continued through the void, Aeros closed his eyes, envisioning the trials to come. The elemental zones intrigued him. Fire would be relentless, an inferno of destruction testing endurance and resilience. Water promised a labyrinth of shifting tides, forcing participants to adapt to ever-changing circumstances. Earth's unyielding terrain would demand strength and persistence, while Wind's chaotic currents would test agility and precision. And Void… the very thought of it sent a shiver down his spine. A realm of emptiness, where spiritual energy would be suppressed, it would challenge the essence of their cultivation.

"Uncle," Aeros said after a pause, his voice steady, "I'll be ready. Whatever the Eternal Spirit World throws at me, I'll face it head-on."

Serus' eyes opened, gleaming with a mix of pride and expectation. "Good. The trials will push you to your limits, but that's what makes them worthwhile. Remember, this is only the beginning."

The vessel surged forward, the void around them pulsing with energy. Aeros' heart beat in rhythm with the craft, anticipation building with every moment. The Eternal Spirit World awaited, and with it, the first part of his journey.
