When Will My Childhood Sweetheart Marry Me?

Chapter 10: Chapter 010: The Deja Vu of Bandits Entering the Village

Every day after morning self-study ended, the school would organize the senior year students for a fifteen-minute morning run. The intention was to focus on improving academic performance while also not neglecting the students' physical fitness.

Especially for a rocket class like Class Six, which poured all their thoughts into studying, there was very little time for exercise. Even during PE class, they would rush to solve paper after paper, a walking testament to constant test prep.

After just two laps, the more physically fragile students began gasping for breath, and many girls had devised various ways to drop out of the run.

Tang Xing looked around, searching for an opportunity to sneak away when he suddenly caught sight of Jiang Shuyao's calm demeanor beside him, and he couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Yaoyao, I didn't expect you to be so slender and yet have such good stamina."

Compared to her deskmate's rounder figure, Jiang Shuyao was indeed on the taller side, but her physical fitness was only average.

She had a few little tricks, "Warm up with walking and then transition to a slow jog before the run. Try to maintain a steady speed throughout and avoid sudden sprints and stops, and you won't feel too tired."

"Really? I'll give it a try next time."

Temporarily abandoning his plan to slip away, Tang Xing followed Jiang Shuyao at a leisurely pace at the back of the group, unhurriedly completing the rest of the half lap.

A few minutes later, the classes dispersed one after another, and the large playground suddenly became empty.

Chen Jin shot a ball into the basket and, during a flashy spin move, caught a glimpse of the boss, Brother Yan, standing still on the side, lost in thought.

He nudged the two guys next to him with his hand. "Look at Brother Yan's expression. Doesn't it look like he's caught up in the thralls of spring?"

Xu Kanfeng stifled a laugh and nodded, "You said it, he really does look the part."

But speaking of spring fever, there had to be an object of affection, right?

"I'm guessing, it's got to be the girl profiled on Brother Yan's lock screen. I have no idea when he changed the wallpaper, but I remember it used to be a blurry silhouette just half a year ago—how—"

Damn.

That silhouette also looked like a girl. Could it be the same person?

Meanwhile, Pei Yan's icy gaze swept toward the three daydreamers as he stepped out of the basketball court, "Someone come and move the water."

The annual Rong City high school basketball tournament would be held in the middle of the next month, right at Yunzhong.

As the main force of the basketball team, in the days to come, these scions would once again be able to blatantly skip classes under the guise of training.

The three of them pushed and shoved each other, and who would move the water became a grave issue.

After a long moment of inaction, Pei Yan, having already stepped outside the track, impatiently turned around, "Is moving water going to kill you guys?"

The chattering trio abruptly stopped, exchanging looks of consternation. Chen Jin and Xu Kanfeng hurriedly followed.

He Qingzhou raised the basketball in his hands and called out, "You guys move it, I'll stay and watch the field."

With the morning run over, the snack bar was especially crowded. Tang Xing finally emerged from the throng when she suddenly realized that her companion was no longer by her side; she had somehow lost Yaoyao.

"Yaoyao, where are you stuck?" Tang Xing hopped and peered into the snack bar, barely catching a glimpse of a familiar hair-tie before her feet landed back on the ground, cursing her own short legs for letting her down at a critical moment.

Jiang Shuyao had some regrets. She should have listened to her deskmate's advice and not gone to the fridge to get yogurt—it was a disaster zone.

Nowadays, girls could go without spicy strips or drinks, but yogurt had become a daily necessity, loved to the extent of licking the lids clean.

A look of helplessness and pain crossed the girl's porcelain-like face; at that moment, she wished she could burrow into the ground and escape.

However, the situation changed in an instant.

Someone at the door shouted, "Boss, five boxes of sparkling water."

Starting with five boxes, besides the basketball team, who else in Yunzhong could have such audacity.

Heads turned one after another, and the crowd spontaneously made way, each holding their breath, giving Jiang Shuyao a surreal feeling as if bandits were entering a village.
