Chapter 235: Remains of the Ancient People

This is what Grey has been busy with these past few days.

Aiwass is not in Avalon right now, so he doesn't know... The northern snow mountain has now turned into the "Flame Mountain." The Flame Celestial Marshal has taken the mountain as her domain, demonized the Dwarves' terrifying factory, and transformed the Dwarves into mechanical Dwarves. She also controls the entire production line, as well as all the machinery and military equipment the Dwarves produce.

The few surviving Frost Giants fled overnight but were almost completely slaughtered by the spreading flames, leaving only a few Dwarves and Frost Giants huddling in the snow mountain caves.

Even though Elves and Dwarves are considered archenemies, the situation deteriorating to this extent means it can no longer be ignored.

It's like the Flame Demon in another world line occupying the Hall of Silver and Tin—in this case, it's the entire Northern Mountains that the Flame Celestial Marshal has taken over.

"An enemy of this magnitude is almost unbeatable. Trying to fight against the crazed Flame Celestial Marshal is akin to fighting an entire ancient empire with divine power, possessing advanced high technology, and a singular will."

Grey boasted in the letter: "But it's different for me—I have a very good relationship with the Flame Celestial Marshal. When I was still a candidate for the Holy Maiden, I often went to chat with the Flame Celestial Marshal...

"If the Candle Master is like a father, then the Flame Celestial Marshal is like a mother. She is always wielding a hammer, and her Angel Envoys are either apprentices or assistants... but she never had any friends.

"So the Flame Celestial Marshal did not attack me. I went to her alone—if there were others, the situation might have become more complicated. To prevent the world from being destroyed by the crazed Flame Celestial Marshal, I tried my best to resolve her anger and hatred from being betrayed by her own kind.

"Before her ascension, the Flame Celestial Marshal was a female Dwarf, although back then Dwarves might have been taller than humans, regarded as 'Dwarves' compared to Giants... The Dwarves today have degenerated like the Avianfolk and are no longer the same species as ancient Dwarves, but they still share the same ancestors.

"Being brought down by the Ring of Ouroboros ceremony is unsolvable, yet even so, the Flame Celestial Marshal did not directly attack these Dwarves. Instead, she acted like a guide, a master craftsman, an ancient Monarch, and a religious leader, offering reasonable yet overly provocative guidance—her true anger stems from the Dwarves' attempt to kill her.

"The Flame Celestial Marshal and Stone Celestial Marshal were the only two Celestial Marshals among ancient Dwarves in the Dream Realm, and they were once married. The Flame Celestial Marshal was the most protective Celestial Marshal towards the Dwarves—this is also why the Dwarves ultimately chose to bring her down—yet precisely because of this, the betrayal was especially infuriating.

"With my persuasion, the Flame Celestial Marshal is no longer angry now. I came up with a solution for the Ring of Ouroboros for her... like the Silver-Crowned Dragon of old, abandoning most of the power, carrying only a small amount of heavenly power, and reincarnating as a mortal with transcendent qualifications.

"I think, anyway, her path has come to an end—the more extreme this path, the more it goes against the Source River of civilization. It would be better to abandon those unnecessary things, to potentially go further. Whether it's the Seat of the Pillar God, or simply changing a Path is possible.

"From a rational perspective, this is the best choice... it's just that the Flame Celestial Marshal's transcendent qualifications are insufficient, and she still hesitates. I can't convince her for the time being. We might need your help then, but if things go smoothly, maybe we won't need it."

——Is this the Eternal Pope?

Aiwass solemnly respected.

The biggest networker in the world, and possibly the best conversationalist—enough to even chat with a Celestial Marshal brought down by the Ring of Ouroboros, possibly talking them down without firing a single shot!

And after explaining what she's been up to these days, Grey also frankly informed Aiwass of some intelligence about Sin Thorn with no reservations: "Also, you guessed right, Aiwass... Sin Thorn indeed has connections to pre-civilization. I won't stop you from researching Sin Thorn... but I hope you can also send us a copy of your research results when the time comes.

"Bound by ethics and faith, The Great Tree does not allow Elves to research knowledge about Sin Thorn. It belongs to the 'Secret of Creation,' and also to the 'Taboo Secret.'"

"...'Pre-civilization'?"

Aiwass murmured softly, pondering Grey's wording, thought carefully, and then continued reading.

"'Sin Thorn,' even within the entire Nine Pillars Divine Church and the entire Holy Nation, is the highest-level secret. Half of the Cardinal Archbishops never touch it in their lifetime, and the remaining Cardinal Archbishops generally only know a rough idea. Because once this secret is revealed, it could lead to controversy over the image and perception of the Candle Master, potentially leading to internal strife and the collapse of the Holy Nation... only each generation of Holy Maiden receives the full inheritance. Precisely because you are not an Elf, I dare to tell you this.

"Your previous judgment was correct, before the Candle Master burned out Sin Thorn, there indeed existed another previous civilization in this world. However, they were utterly annihilated due to the persecution by the Dusk Species.

"And in numerous worlds, there exists The River of the Dream Realm. Although each world calls it differently, and the river's coverage and depth vary... this is the same river running through numerous worlds. And the Candle Master is among the very few who possess the ability of the 'Dream Realm Boat' across myriad worlds.

"Generally speaking, each world has its own barrier to prevent the arrival of people from other worlds. But the world at that time had been gnawed away by the Dusk Species, leaving only a big empty hole in the sky—like an apple eaten by worms.

"This hole is the 'Tenth Source River,' also the 'Zero Source River.' The Candle Master entered this abandoned world through that hole and discovered Sin Thorn. What happened next is not recorded. Your hypothesis that the 'original Sun Path' was transformed from the ignited Sin Thorn is not included in the Holy Maiden's inheritance either... but I think your reasoning makes sense.

"However, although the Candle Master did not tell us what happened next... she clearly informed us of Sin Thorn's true identity.

"—It is not the creation of the Ancient People, nor is it the technology of the Ancient People. It is the Ancient People themselves.

"The Candle Master believes that the Ancient People survived the final devouring of the Dusk Species by transforming into Sin Thorn... or they are the remnants after being completely consumed. These intertwined Sin Thorns are the new body formed by the last individuals of a civilization intertwining.

"Within Sin Thorn, the knowledge, culture, and heritage of the Ancient People are stored... Sin Thorn is burned, and its ash falls into the Source River, and the soul births from the Source River, filling the earth.

"Today, our appearance, race, culture, power, and social form all come from the legacy of the Ancient People, hidden in the shadow of our souls. So although the Candle Master is the Creator God, His form differs from us—because the Candle Master is merely a friendly and earnest outsider, while we ourselves are the descendants of the Ancient People.

"—How can man desecrate the relics and ashes of their ancestors?

"Therefore, the Candle Master does not allow us to burn the last piece of Sin Thorn. And Parthia is their 'Resting Place.'"
