Chapter 298: For the Chance to Revive His Wife, He Would Merge the Ten Rings if Needed
"This is your ticket for the Dragon Ball Tournament. It represents your life within the competition, so you must guard it carefully."
Thor accepted the golden coin from John Wick, examining its craftsmanship and weight with curiosity.
John then explained the details of the tournament before adding:
"We also need to confirm your wish. If it involves evil—something like world destruction—then even as champion, your wish will not be granted."
Thor spoke firmly:
"My wish is to use the Dragon Balls to revive my brother, Loki Odinson!"
John nodded.
"Understood. I'll record your wish. As a contestant, you may also bring up to ten spectators. Before the tournament begins, we'll come to escort you and them to the arena."
Darcy immediately burst out:
"Take me with you! There's no way I'm missing something this crazy."
Jane hugged Thor's arm and smiled.
"I'll be there too, cheering you on."
Thor grinned, nodding in satisfaction, before turning back to John Wick.
"Thank you."
The only thing he regretted was that his Asgardian comrades couldn't be here, with the Bifrost still shattered. He would have liked them to witness his triumph in the Dragon Ball Tournament.
With their task completed, John Wick and the Gunsmith departed.
On the return drive, the Gunsmith chuckled.
"You didn't use the Power Detector to measure that Thunder God's strength."
John smirked.
"You didn't either."
The Gunsmith laughed.
"Wouldn't want to embarrass ourselves if the reading went off the charts. He is a god, after all. We'll see what he's capable of once the tournament begins."
John nodded in agreement.
"Exactly my thought."

Meanwhile, Selene and Michael had traveled by helicopter to the mountains, guided by the Dragon Radar, where they found Xu Wenwu.
Dropping from the helicopter, Selene and Michael addressed the gathered Ten Rings soldiers.
"We're here for Xu Wenwu, regarding the Dragon Balls."
The Death Merchant quickly delivered the message, and soon Xu Wenwu himself emerged, a second-generation Power Detector on his wrist. He immediately scanned the newcomers. Their readings were so low they didn't even reach triple digits. Relaxing, he dismissed any thought of threat—whoever they were, they couldn't challenge him.
"I am Xu Wenwu. What is your business with me? What is this Dragon Ball matter?"
Selene and Michael exchanged a glance. They noticed his detector and knew he already had their measure. From the sparse information in his file—only noting him as Xu Shangqi and Xu Xialing's father—they had assumed he was competent, but not extraordinary.
Selene spoke clearly:
"We are representatives of the Dragon Ball Tournament. We've come to confirm matters concerning you and the Dragon Balls."
Hearing this, both Shangqi and Xialing came out. The moment they saw Selene, Xialing whispered urgently to her father:
"Father, that's the previous champion. The vampire queen, Selene."
Wenwu's brows rose. To think the last tournament's victor was standing before him. But if someone of her strength could win, then surely his own power guaranteed him victory.
"Lady Selene, it's an honor. What is it you need to confirm?"
Selene asked directly:
"Xu Wenwu, will you be entering the Dragon Ball Tournament?"
"I will," he replied without hesitation.
Selene handed him the golden coin, explaining the tournament rules in detail.
"Now, what is your wish? If it is destructive or evil, it will be denied even if you win."
Wenwu didn't hide his answer.
"I wish to revive my wife."
Selene glanced at him with a flicker of respect. Another man of deep devotion, much like John Wick. Shame the assignments hadn't paired them.
"Very well. Your wish is recorded. You may also bring up to ten spectators. Before the tournament begins, someone will come to escort you."
Xialing then asked cautiously:
"Selene… is joining the Assassin Alliance a requirement for the champion? You and John Wick both entered afterward."
Selene shook her head.
"No. That was my own choice, born of circumstance and opportunity. It isn't forced."
But Xialing remained skeptical. With both Selene and John having joined, she suspected more was at play.
After finishing their task, Selene and Michael returned to their helicopter, leaving the Ten Rings behind.
Wenwu watched them depart, then turned to his daughter.
"You fear that to revive your mother, I'll have to surrender myself to the Assassin Alliance?"
Xialing nodded slightly.
"Yes. That's what it looks like."
Wenwu's gaze hardened.
"If reviving your mother requires it, then even if I must bring the Ten Rings under their banner, I will do so without hesitation."
Hearing his words, Xialing fell silent. She knew this obsession to resurrect her mother defined her father. Without the Dragon Balls, she couldn't imagine what extremes he might one day reach.
Wenwu turned away. All he needed now was to wait for the tournament.
"Yingli… soon you'll return to me. Soon, we'll meet again."
