When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 275: Two Choices

Life Foundation Laboratory.

The moment Carlton Drake received the report, he rushed back to the scene. Seeing the shattered glass of the test chambers and three corpses laid side by side, he asked sharply:

"How bad is it?"

Dr. Dora Skirth answered grimly:

"Very bad."

Drake snapped:

"Be specific!"

Another scientist explained:

"Our three remaining symbiotes… they were all taken by intruders."

Drake froze, his face twitching with disbelief.

"Taken? Taken? Not one left?"

Dora shook her head.

"I don't know how it happened."

The head of security growled:

"I'll interrogate the night shift guards."

But a guard nearby stammered:

"They've already been questioned, sir."

"I haven't questioned them myself!" the captain shot back angrily.

Drake glanced at the corpses on the floor.

"Get rid of these. Now."

Dora quickly covered their faces with white sheets and helped wheel them away.

Then Drake turned on the captain.

"Pull the surveillance feeds. I want to know exactly who stole my symbiotes."

In the control room, he pored over the footage. What he saw made his stomach churn.

Only three figures appeared—two men and one woman. Each time they entered camera range, the first thing they did was smash the lens. Every clip was short, broken. There was no trace of Eddie Brock or Smith Dole.

Fury burning in his chest, Drake barked:

"Find them. Identify those three. And find out where they took my symbiotes!"

At the League of Assassins headquarters, Smith and the team returned by helicopter.

In the lab, Fox came over carrying a tray of chocolates.

Eddie blinked. "Chocolate?"

Smith explained calmly:

"Eat some, Eddie. It'll help."

Eddie unwrapped one and popped it into his mouth. The moment the taste hit his tongue, he lost control. He tore open the rest, devouring every piece on the tray like a man possessed.

Alexei, Selina, and Michael watched warily. They all knew—inside Eddie lurked a symbiote.

When he finished, Eddie blinked, dazed. "What… what just happened to me?"

Bulma, standing by with a curious expression, scribbled notes as Smith explained:

"Your symbiote craves phenylethylamine. Chocolate has it. Chips and meat will do as well."

Inside Eddie's body, Venom stayed quiet. It had already noticed the four powerful beings around Eddie. Only Eddie was weak—timid, vulnerable. A safe host to hide in.

Bulma continued jotting down Smith's analysis.

Smith spoke again:

"Eddie, the creature inside you—and the other two we captured—are symbiotes, alien lifeforms. They can't survive Earth's oxygen-rich environment on their own. They need hosts."

"They were brought back on Life One. The Foundation's experiments killed countless people."

"Drake deserves to fall," Eddie growled.

Smith nodded.

"But listen carefully. Symbiotes have their own minds. If they choose their host and accept them, the bond can stabilize. The host gains incredible power—ordinary men become superhumans overnight."

Everyone's eyes flicked between the containers holding the other two symbiotes… and Eddie.

Eddie stared at his hands in awe.

"Does that mean… I could become a superhuman too?"

Smith's tone darkened.

"But if the symbiote doesn't accept you, it will feed on your organs to survive—then abandon you once you're dead, searching for the next host."

Eddie went pale.

"It… it won't eat me, will it?"

"For now, you're safe," Smith reassured him.

That "for now" wasn't very comforting, but Eddie tried to calm down.

"Symbiotes do have weaknesses," Smith added. "Sonic vibrations between 4000 and 6000 hertz, and fire. Both are fatal to them."

Inside Eddie, Venom stiffened. How did this man know so much—even their weaknesses?

Selina confirmed it aloud.

"I proved that in the lab. I drove them out with sonic vibrations."

Smith turned back to the group.

"Bulma, keep the two contained symbiotes for study. As for Eddie's case…"

He looked at Eddie.

"You have two choices. One, Selina can rip it out of you right now. Two, you try to communicate with it. If you can reach an understanding, you'll gain its power—and protect yourself and Anne more easily."

The room went quiet. Eddie swallowed hard, the weight of the decision pressing on him.

Inside him, Venom stayed still. It had already judged—these four could crush it easily. Fighting was suicide. For now… it would play along.
