Chapter 240: Baymax Press Conference
As the music faded, Ivan Vanko began his speech. In line with Capsule Corporation's mission, Vanko Industries remained true to its original vision — to change the lifestyle of countless families.
After finishing his opening remarks, he moved straight into the main topic:
"Ladies and gentlemen, today I will introduce to you the companion-type home robot — Baymax!"
At his words, the large screen behind him began playing a promotional video for Baymax. At the same time, the stage revealed, via a lift, a row of Baymax robots.
"Baymax, the companion-type home robot, is equipped with the AI 'DaiDai' and possesses a wide array of skills."
"In the home, he's a competent chef. His onboard chip contains an extensive recipe database, capable of preparing delicious meals for the family. The recipe chip doesn't just store our own national cuisine — it also includes countless foreign dishes, suitable for families across the globe."
At that moment, an assistant wheeled a stove onto the stage. Under Ivan Vanko's operation, one of the Baymax units began a live demonstration of its cooking skills.
"In addition to cooking, Baymax can also handle household cleaning and clothing organization."
As he spoke, another Baymax began vacuuming, folding clothes, and tidying up the space.
The audience gasped in amazement at Baymax's performance. Even Tony was impressed.
"DaiDai's AI has reached this level? Incredible."
Bulma said proudly,
"Of course — I developed DaiDai myself. And this isn't even the full extent of its abilities."
Ivan Vanko continued,
"Of course, that's not all. One of Baymax's most important functions is as a home medical assistant."
"Baymax can conduct body scans, assess the health of family members, and provide basic treatment suggestions. He can also immediately contact hospitals or private doctors."
"If you input your personal medical data, Baymax will give daily reminders for medications and other important care instructions."
"In short, Baymax is the perfect household companion — freeing your hands so you can spend more time with your loved ones instead of being bogged down by chores."
"Furthermore, Baymax will never harm humans. His primary programming is gentle, considerate, reliable, intelligent, and dedicated to protecting the family."
When Ivan finished, the audience erupted in applause. Still, not everyone was pleased — military and special procurement officials were clearly disappointed. They had hoped for a war machine, not a companion robot.
Next came the pricing. Baymax would come in two models — one at $1 million and another at $10 million.
The $1 million version ran on batteries, meaning it required charging and couldn't achieve extremely long standby times. The $10 million version, however, used a clean energy Arc Reactor, offering an incredible standby lifespan — up to 10 years of normal use without worrying about power.
When the prices were revealed, many people's eyes lit up. It was surprisingly affordable — roughly the same cost as a hover car, with the battery version being significantly cheaper. Orders started pouring in immediately.
Watching the excitement, Tony turned to Smith.
"Smith, my new suit is almost ready. How about we spar sometime?"
Just then, Ivan Vanko came down from the stage and said,
"Tony, I was thinking the same thing. Why don't we go a round first?"
Tony replied,
"Sure. Let's set a time. I'll warm up by beating you, then I'll take on Smith Dole."
Smith, curious about Tony's new suit, agreed.
"No problem. The day after tomorrow works for me."
…
Meanwhile, in New Mexico…
At the site where Mjolnir had fallen, an old man in a pickup truck stared at the hammer in a deep crater. No matter what he tried, he couldn't lift it.
Realizing he couldn't take it himself, he called friends to come and try. Soon, a crowd gathered, all attempting to lift it. Word spread quickly, and more and more curious people showed up.
The strongest man in town couldn't budge it. Some even tried chaining it to a truck and pulling, but it didn't move an inch.
At that moment, Coulson arrived at the scene, parked nearby, and reported,
"Sir, we've found it."
Meanwhile, Thor — who had just escaped — was once again hit by Jane Foster's car and brought back with them.
Looking at the unconscious Thor, Darcy Lewis joked,
"Looks like the clue you lost came back on its own."
The three of them lifted Thor into the car and took him back to their temporary base.
Watching the rambling man talk nonsense, Darcy muttered,
"Compared to my crazy dream, this absurdly good-looking drifter is even more unbelievable."
Jane asked curiously,
"What crazy dream?"
"Darcy, did you dream about a bunch of handsome guys?"
Darcy shot her a look.
"Jane, what are you talking about?"
"A couple of years ago, I found a strange orb and sold it online."
(It was one of the Dragon Balls that Santino Antonio had purchased earlier.)
"But recently, I dreamed that the orb was called a Dragon Ball, and if you gathered all seven, you could summon a dragon that grants any wish."
She had received this information in her sleep, and upon waking thought it was just a dream.
Thor stepped forward and asked,
"A wish-granting dragon? I've never heard of such a thing in the Nine Realms. Is it native to your world?"
Jane turned to Darcy.
"Darcy, he's asking if the dragon is a specialty of your hometown."
"Ha ha ha."
Laughing, Jane only earned an exasperated shout from Darcy.
"I told you, it was a dream! A dream!"
"And seriously — don't you think this drifter's physique is way too perfect to be normal?"
Thor frowned slightly.
"My body is starting to weaken. That's not a good sign. I need to find my hammer."
