Chapter 127: Chaos Outside
Outside the Golden Pot
The pavilion is very popular, but the attendance of the powerhouses is not mandatory and many of them are not interested in the auction.
One of the people inside managed to alert the authorities outside that the Golden Pot is detaining void users inside and seems to be waging a war.
Allied forces of those who are trapped inside came to the rescue, but the entire area was coated in a binding artifact. It is strong. No matter what artifact class they used, it couldn't even leave a scratch on the barrier.
"What are they doing? Did anyone manage to contact the higher-ups of the Golden Pot? Tell them to state what they want directly and stop this nonsense!" One of the irritable powerhouses outside said to the group responsible for the negotiation.
"Da fuck are you, big beard, ordering around? Are ya blind? Can't you see what I'm doing." A weak‑looking man said. He does look like a fragile piece of paper, but the way he spoke makes people feel off. It was very contrary to his own appearance.
Another person felt that the two of them were being a bit childish. He rubbed his head and muttered, "Can't all of you try to maintain your dignity? There are people watching."
Then he shared the latest news that he got. "Someone managed to contact the higher-ups of the Golden Pot. They are very evasive even if we threw all the evidence right in their face. We have no idea who the master of this pavilion is, but those elders don't dare say anything."
The weak‑looking man felt confused. "Did they just detain them there? So this isn't a hostage situation?"
"Of course not. The powerhouses inside could probably force their way out, but they also wanted to know what's happening." A man said. He has a tall build that could rival the Clashers. On the side of his cheeks and neck are scales — all shining brightly whenever the sunlight hits them. "So I guess we just hope for the best."
The big bearded powerhouse looked at him, "Okay, but this still feels insulting. Like we're just gonna loiter around here? Why don't you transform into your dragon form and try to smash the barrier?"
The half-dragon rolled his eyes, "Quit messing around. Let's find a spot to wait for the…" The wings sprouted from his back.
A timid‑looking boy whispered to the weak‑looking man, "Sir, is he a hybrid?"
The first to answer was the bearded man. He sneered at the timid‑looking boy, "Of course not. His dragon form is the cause of him accidentally ingesting a strange artifact."
The boy was shocked, "Why would he ingest it?"
"That moron thinks that the artifact looks very tasty." Of course, that is probably not the real story. But hey, despite wanting to beat up everyone who dares spread that, the half‑dragon really won't spill the beans as to why that happened.
On the other side, the academy teacher and the students' relatives are also outside. Mr Quill rubbed his ring. "Argh. Did I just set a flag before? Saying that this auction is safe, then this happens."
Neris' grandfather was also there, but he didn't look stressed in the slightest. "They'll probably be fine… at least for now. If they wanted to kill everyone right away, they could have done so. But they didn't."
Mr Rosen was also there. "I don't know what to feel about this. The pavilion was normal a while ago. Why are they doing this?"
Most void users who held power had a bit of an idea as to what was happening. Some of them didn't dare say it to avoid chaos, but also because they were not yet certain if the information was valid.
We aren't spreading fake news here.
"That rift was opening up again." The patriarch had no qualms. He knew that Quill and Rosen were no idiots, so sharing information again should be fine. "The rift where the Sun God was killed."
Mr Rosen gasped, "Where did that information come from? Didn't they seal that thousands of years ago because of a strange void energy waffling around the rift?" Then he asked for the most important part, "Forcibly breaking the seal is against the contracts that every content signed. Is this really okay?"
The patriarch shrugged, "I don't know if it's because Golden Pot had been orthodox for many years, but I guess sometimes it slips everyone's mind that they aren't affiliated with any continent."
Clearly, they are not bound by the contract.
Mr Quill didn't understand, "Okay, if they really did that, why are they doing this? I can't see the connection." If they wanted to be an outlaw, then fine. They are not affiliated with any continent — technically, no one could really legally pursue their mess.
But why this? It's very eye-catching. Everyone's attention was grabbed by this mess. Don't tell me that they were doing something behind everyone's back?
"How would I know? They could be just going crazy." The patriarch was unexpectedly casual. He got some weird looks from Quill and Rosen.
Although he kept saying that he is dissatisfied with Neris, he is actually his favorite grandchild. They had seen how protective he was when someone bullied Neris, but this time, he is unexpectedly calm.
Then Mr Rosen remembered something, "The brooch! Did you manage to find someone to fix it?!" That could be the reason for it. That brooch is very unique. The family did not publish its specific ability, but they were looking for it everywhere.
Clearly there is something more about that brooch than anyone knew. This patriarch really got lucky that he managed to merge the two broken parts together.
Now that Neris is safe, Mr Quill was still worried about his other students, "What about the rest? What if something might happen?"
This time, the patriarch was speechless. "With that Hal boy with them, there should be nothing to worry about. That child is armed from head to toe." He is the only child of the family; technically speaking, he was the apple of his parents' eyes.
"Oh, speaking of the devil. His family is here." The patriarch saw a flying figure in the sky.
