Chapter 36: Final Blocks
The freezing winds howled across the desolate landscape of Lake Acuity, nestled in the northern reaches of Hisui. Ash and his steadfast Pokémon companions, Pikachu, Greninja, Hisuian Braviary, and Growlithe, now joined by Lucario, braved the icy terrain in search of the legendary guardian of knowledge, Uxie.
Their footfalls crunched against the freshly fallen snow, leaving faint imprints as they advanced toward the center of the frozen lake. The air was bitingly cold, each breath forming a frosty mist that dissipated into the wintry expanse. Undeterred by the frigid temperatures, Ash and his team pressed on, their hearts ablaze with determination.
Lake Acuity stretched out before them, a serene and frozen masterpiece. The pristine ice sparkled under the pale moonlight, reflecting the stars above. The stillness of the surroundings was broken only by the occasional crack of ice underfoot and the distant howls of the wind.
Following their intuition, Ash and his Pokémon cautiously made their way toward the heart of the lake, where a shimmering cave nestled within a massive glacier awaited them. Its entrance emanated an ethereal glow, hinting at the presence of the enigmatic Uxie.
As they stepped into the cavern, a rush of frigid air greeted them, causing their breath to hitch in their throats. The walls, adorned with intricate ice formations, glistened with an otherworldly beauty. The atmosphere grew hushed as if the cave itself held its breath in anticipation.
Deeper into the icy depths they ventured, guided by an invisible force that seemed to pull them forward. Finally, they arrived in a vast chamber where Uxie, the guardian of knowledge, awaited. Its piercing gaze exuded an ancient wisdom, sending a shiver down Ash's spine.
Ash approached Uxie, his voice steady but filled with reverence. "Uxie, guardian of knowledge, I seek your guidance and ask to prove my worth. Grant me the privilege of obtaining the Draco Plate."
Uxie regarded Ash and his team with an inscrutable expression, assessing their determination and thirst for knowledge. In response, it raised a psychic barrier, challenging Ash to a battle of wits and skill.
Ash understood the unspoken invitation. He glanced at Pikachu, his most trusted partner, and a silent understanding passed between them. It was time for Pikachu to demonstrate their deep bond and showcase Ash's profound knowledge on the battlefield.
Pikachu stepped forward, electricity crackling at his cheeks, ready to face the test laid before them. The air became charged with anticipation as Uxie and Pikachu locked eyes, each one brimming with resolve.
Without hesitation, Pikachu darted forward with blinding speed, utilizing his Quick Attack to close the distance between them in an instant. Uxie responded with a graceful side-step, evading Pikachu's attack effortlessly. The legendary Pokémon's movements were fluid and calculated, a testament to its mastery over knowledge.
Undeterred, Pikachu unleashed a powerful Thunderbolt, tendrils of lightning cascading toward Uxie. But the legendary Pokémon swiftly erected a psychic shield, deflecting the electric onslaught with ease. Uxie's eyes glowed with an aura of wisdom, displaying its innate understanding of the battlefield.
Realizing the need for a different approach, Ash strategized on the fly. "Pikachu, use Electroweb to create a web of electricity and slow down Uxie's movements!"
Pikachu nodded, unleashing a barrage of electrified strands that intertwined in mid-air, forming a complex web. Uxie, momentarily caught off guard, found its movements hindered by the crackling mesh. Pikachu seized the opportunity, charging in with Iron Tail, striking Uxie with a resounding blow.
The clash of forces reverberated within the icy chamber, each strike a testament to Pikachu's determination and Ash's tactical acumen. But Uxie, unyielding in its role as the guardian of knowledge, retaliated with a surge of psychic power, sending Pikachu hurtling backward.
Ash's heart skipped a beat as he watched Pikachu tumble across the icy floor. Concern etched his face, but a flicker of determination ignited within his eyes. He knew that Pikachu was strong and resilient, and together they would rise to the challenge.
"Pikachu, get back up! Show Uxie the depth of our bond!" Ash encouraged, his voice filled with unwavering faith.
Pikachu, fueled by Ash's unwavering belief, rose to his feet, determination emanating from every fiber of his being. The bond they shared, forged through countless battles and victories, now burned brightly, infusing Pikachu with newfound strength.
With a renewed vigor, Pikachu unleashed another Thunderbolt, channeling his electric power to its fullest extent. The bolts of lightning crackled with intensity as they streaked toward Uxie, weaving through the icy cavern with precision.
This time, Uxie's psychic shield wavered under the sheer force of Pikachu's assault. The legendary Pokémon, taken aback by Pikachu's resilience, faltered for a split second, allowing Pikachu's Thunderbolt to connect.
The electrifying impact reverberated throughout the chamber, a dazzling display of power and determination. Uxie staggered, its guard momentarily broken. Sensing an opportunity, Pikachu seized the moment, delivering a final, decisive blow with his Iron Tail.
The impact sent Uxie sprawling backward, its aura flickering momentarily. Silence engulfed the cavern as Ash and his Pokémon held their breath, their hearts pounding with anticipation.
Then, with a faint smile, Uxie extended a small, shimmering orb towards Ash—an emblem of victory. It was the Draco Plate, a testament to Ash's deep knowledge and the indomitable bond he shared with his Pokémon. It also handed out a claw which Ash proceeded to break in half.
As Ash accepted the Draco Plate, a sense of accomplishment washed over him. The battle had tested their mettle, pushing both Ash and Pikachu to their limits. But through their unwavering determination and profound understanding of each other, they had emerged victorious.
Gratitude filled Ash's heart as he bowed deeply to Uxie, acknowledging the wisdom and strength it had imparted upon them. With the Draco Plate in hand, Ash and his Pokémon left the icy depths of Lake Acuity, their spirits emboldened by the power of knowledge.
A Starly came toward him, dressed in a jacket and with a bag attached to him. Ash patted the Pokémon gently and handed the claw.
The little Pokémon flew away, directed to Laventon in Jubilife. They had made it. Only one plate separated them and Mount Coronet.
Their journey through Hisui had shaped them into a formidable team, ready to face the challenges that lay ahead. With the Draco Plate as a symbol of their growth and resilience, they set their sights on the final clash, determined to protect the future of Hisui and honor the legacy of the ancient Pokémon.
...…
As Serena slowly regained consciousness, her eyes fluttered open to the sight of a sterile hospital room. The scent of antiseptic filled the air, and the soft beeping of machines echoed in the background. Her head throbbed, but she pushed through the pain, trying to remember what had happened.
"Dawn? Goh?" she called weakly, her voice barely a whisper. She turned her head to the side and saw Dawn lying in the bed next to her, still unconscious but showing signs of improvement. Goh was in the bed across the room, his leg heavily bandaged and elevated.
Serena's heart ached at the sight of her friends in such a state. They had fought together, pushed themselves to the limit, and now they lay wounded and vulnerable. She wanted to reach out, to comfort them, but her own body felt so weak.
Just as she was about to succumb to despair, the door to the room swung open, and Brock and Clemont entered, their faces filled with relief and concern.
"Serena! Thank goodness you're awake," Brock exclaimed, rushing to her side. "You've been through a lot. Take it easy."
Serena managed a weak smile. "Brock... Clemont... what happened? How are Dawn and Goh?"
Brock sighed, his expression heavy with worry. "Dawn is stable, and she should wake up soon. Goh's leg was badly injured, but the doctors believe he'll recover with time. As for you, Serena, your injuries were severe, but you're strong. You made it through the surgery, and now it's just a matter of resting and healing."
Tears welled up in Serena's eyes as relief flooded over her. She was grateful that her friends were going to be okay, but there was still one question burning in her mind.
"What happened after I fainted?" Serena asked, her voice trembling. "Did we... did we defeat Dialga?"
Brock exchanged a solemn glance with Clemont before speaking. "Serena, I'm afraid things took a turn for the worse. While you were unconscious, the hooded man managed to capture and kill Dialga. It was a devastating blow, and we couldn't stop him."
Serena's heart sank, and a profound sadness washed over her. She couldn't believe that their efforts had ended in such tragedy. The hope of finding Ash seemed to slip further away with each passing moment.
Clemont stepped forward, his voice filled with determination. "But we won't give up, Serena. We'll find another way to bring Ash back. We'll uncover the truth behind all this and make things right."
Serena looked into Clemont's eyes, seeing the unwavering resolve within him. She drew strength from his words and nodded, wiping away her tears.
"You're right, Clemont. We can't lose hope. Ash needs us, and we'll do whatever it takes to bring him back."
Just as Serena spoke those words, the door to the room opened once again, and Cynthia, the champion of Sinnoh, entered. Her presence commanded respect and authority, and Serena couldn't help but feel a sense of awe, especially thinking back at the audacity she had the last time she met her.
"Champion Cynthia," Brock greeted her. "Thank you for everything you've done for us."
Cynthia smiled warmly. "I heard what happened, and I couldn't just stand by. You three have been through a lot, and I'm here to offer my assistance in any way I can."
Serena's eyes widened in surprise. The Sinnoh champion was willing to help them? Maybe there was still hope after all.
"I appreciate your support, Champion Cynthia," Serena said, her voice filled with gratitude. "We won't give up on Ash, no matter what."
Cynthia nodded. "I admire your determination. Ash is a remarkable trainer, and I believe he's out there fighting to come back. Together, we can overcome any obstacle."
Brock looked at Serena and Clemont, a glimmer of hope returning to his eyes. "Let's regroup, gather our strength, and come up with a new plan. We may have lost Dialga, but can still do it!"
As Serena, Brock, Clemont, and Cynthia stood united in that hospital room, a renewed sense of purpose filled the air. They would face the challenges ahead together, never wavering in their commitment to bring Ash back.
In the face of adversity, they would find a way to restore hope and reunite with their dear friend. With determination burning in their hearts, they would embark on a new journey, ready to overcome any obstacle that stood in their path. The road ahead was uncertain, but their bond was unbreakable, and they would do whatever it took to bring Ash back to their time.
….
Under the cloak of darkness, Ash and his Pokémon companions ventured toward the eastern part of Hisui, where Lake Valor glistened under the moonlit sky. The air was heavy with an ominous aura as they approached, knowing that time was of the essence. Akari was gravely injured, and the final clash drew near.
The swampy surroundings echoed with the sounds of nocturnal Pokémon, their calls mingling with the soft rustling of leaves and the faint croaking of frogs. The flickering glow of distant fireflies provided the only source of light, guiding Ash's path as he pressed on.
As they neared the heart of the lake, a dense fog rolled in, obscuring their vision and heightening the sense of urgency. Shadows danced in the mist, teasing glimpses of the grotto where Azelf, the guardian of willpower, was said to reside.
Ash's heart raced as he quickened his pace. Every step felt like an eternity, his worry for Akari fueling his determination. He knew he had to reach Azelf swiftly and gain its aid in order to save his injured friend.
Finally, they arrived at the entrance of the grotto. The air grew still as if holding its breath in anticipation. The moon's gentle light filtered through the trees, casting an ethereal glow on the scene before them.
In the heart of the grotto, nestled amid moss-covered rocks, Azelf emerged from the shadows. Its eyes burned with a fierce resolve, its very presence exuding an unwavering willpower that demanded respect.
"Azelf, guardian of willpower," Ash called out, his voice echoing through the night. "I beseech your assistance in our dire time of need. Please, grant me the Fist Plate, that I may harness its strength and protect those dear to me, especially my injured friend, Akari."
Azelf regarded Ash with a piercing gaze, its aura shimmering with a potent energy. The legendary Pokémon hovered in the air, contemplating Ash's plea. It recognized the urgency and determination in his voice, understanding the gravity of the situation.
But before Azelf granted Ash the Fist Plate, it decided to test his worthiness. Azelf's eyes narrowed as it locked its gaze on Greninja, sensing the bond between Ash and his Water-type Pokémon. The legendary Pokémon's intention was clear—it wanted to gauge Ash's battling prowess.
With a knowing look exchanged between Ash and Greninja, they stepped forward to face the test set before them. Greninja's form shimmered with a radiant aura as he tapped into his Battle Bond ability, a testament to the deep synchronization between Ash and his Pokémon.
A vortex of water engulfed the Frog Pokémon as Ash extended his arm up in the air shouting: "LET'Z GO!"
The air crackled with anticipation as the battle commenced. Pikachu watched from the sidelines, ihis cheeks sparking with electricity in support of his trainer and Greninja. Ash's knowledge of the battlefield was showcased as he strategically commanded Greninja's moves.
Greninja leaped into action, a blur of speed and agility. His moves flowed seamlessly as he unleashed Water Shuriken, sending fast disks of water crashing toward Azelf. The legendary Pokémon, true to its nature, swiftly dodged the attack, evading the electric assault.
Undeterred, Greninja followed up with a Night Slash, the appendage of his paws extracting a blade of dark energy and directing all of his momentum toward his foe. The powerful strike collided with Azelf, causing it to stagger momentarily before retorting with a Psycho Cut. Ash winced in response, feeling a fraction of the impact deep within him. The connection between Greninja and Ash allowed them to share both triumph and pain.
Azelf insisted with a burst of Psychic power, attempting to control the battlefield with its telekinetic might. But Ash's quick thinking and deep understanding of his Pokémon's capabilities allowed him to swiftly command Greninja to cause a barrage of Water Shurikens trapping Azelf in all directions apart from the up.
With this brief moment, Greninja seized the opportunity, using Double Team and launching an assault with Night Slash, darting in and out with lightning speed. Each strike connected with precision, testing the legendary Pokémon's endurance and resilience.
The battle raged on, a display of power and determination. Ash and Greninja fought as one, their bond growing stronger with each passing moment. The pain Greninja endured was shared by Ash, a testament to their unyielding connection.
Finally, with a final surge of strength, Greninja unleashed a devastating Water Shurinken engulfing the whole cavern. The surge crackled through the air, engulfing Azelf in a torrent of energy. The legendary Pokémon's will faltered, and it acknowledged Ash's prowess and unwavering determination.
Azelf, satisfied with Ash's display of skill and the strength of his bond with Greninja, descended from the battle-ready stance he had assumed. It bestowed upon Ash the Fist Plate, a symbol of their trust and acknowledgment as well as its fangs.
Filled with a mixture of pride and gratitude, Ash cradled the Fist Plate in his hands, its fiery energy resonating with his own resolve. The battle had proven his worthiness, not only as a trainer but as a true partner to his Pokémon. He also broke the fang into two pieces.
With the Fist Plate now in his possession, Ash and his Pokémon bid Azelf farewell, their hearts brimming with newfound confidence. They left the grotto, ready to face the impending clash with a deepened understanding of their strength and the unbreakable bonds that held them together.
A Starly came and collected the fang. Ash looked at the flying Pokémon going back toward Jubilife with a serious yet tired gaze. Pikachu nuzzled his cheek to snap him out of his trance.
Through the murky swamp and under the moonlit sky, they raced toward their destiny. The final clash awaited them, but Ash knew that with his Pokémon by his side and the power of the plates within his grasp, they would face any challenge head-on, undeterred and resolute.
.....
Serena stepped out onto the balcony of the Pokemon Center, a soft breeze ruffling her hair as she gazed up at the night sky. The stars twinkled above, scattered like precious gems across the vast expanse. It was a breathtaking sight, but her heart felt heavy with a mix of longing and uncertainty.
Leaning against the railing, Serena found herself lost in her thoughts, her mind drifting back to Ash. The memories of their journey together flooded her mind—the battles they fought, the challenges they overcame, and the unbreakable bond they shared. She couldn't help but smile at the image of Ash's determined face, his eyes blazing with passion as he fought for his dreams.
But along with the fond memories came a pang of sadness. The realization that Ash was trapped in a different era weighed heavily on her heart. She missed him deeply, his infectious energy, and his unwavering loyalty to his friends and Pokémon. Ash was more than just a traveling companion; he was someone who had touched her heart in ways she couldn't fully describe.
Her thoughts turned to Pikachu, Ash's faithful partner. The bond they shared was beyond words, a testament to their unbreakable friendship. Serena remembered how Pikachu would always be by Ash's side, lending his thundering power and offering unwavering support. The way Pikachu's eyes sparkled with determination mirrored Ash's own spirit, and Serena admired the unspoken connection they had.
Tears welled up in Serena's eyes as she thought about the obstacles they had faced together. From Gym battles to saving the world from impending disasters, Ash and Pikachu had always stood tall, their bond growing stronger with each passing challenge. It was a bond she had witnessed firsthand, and it touched her soul in a profound way.
Closing her eyes, Serena let her emotions wash over her. She could almost hear Ash's voice, his cheerful laughter echoing in her ears. In that moment, she felt an overwhelming surge of love and determination. She couldn't bear the thought of Ash being stranded in a different time, and she vowed to do whatever it took to bring him back.
As Serena opened her eyes, a shooting star streaked across the night sky, its fleeting presence a symbol of hope. She made a silent wish, her heart pouring out all her desires and hopes for Ash's safe return. The stars above seemed to shimmer in response as if acknowledging her plea.
With renewed strength, Serena straightened her posture and made a silent promise to herself. She would continue to fight, to search for answers, and to reunite with Ash. Their journey was far from over, and she would not rest until they were all together again.
The night air wrapped around Serena like a comforting embrace, and she took solace in the beauty of the stars. They served as a reminder that even in the vastness of the universe, bonds could transcend time and space. With her heart filled with love and determination, Serena whispered into the night, "I'll find you, Ash. We'll be together again, I promise."
….
The crackling sound of the campfire filled the crisp night air as Ash sat beside it, his gaze fixed on the dancing flames. Pikachu nestled comfortably in his lap, the familiar weight and warmth a source of comfort. The starry sky above spread out like a vast tapestry, each twinkling light holding its own story.
Lost in the serenity of the moment, Ash found his thoughts drifting toward Serena. Images of her radiant smile, her unwavering support, and her gentle touch flooded his mind. He couldn't help but feel a tug in his heart whenever he thought about her, a mixture of fondness and longing.
"Pikachu," Ash began, his voice filled with a touch of vulnerability. "You know, I've been thinking a lot about Serena lately. She's always been there for us, supporting us every step of the way. And... I can't deny that there's something more there."
Pikachu turned its head, meeting Ash's gaze with an understanding sparkle in his eyes. The electric mouse Pokémon had been Ash's confidant for years, witnessing every triumph and setback on their journey together.
"I've seen how much she's grown, how much she's achieved," Ash continued, his voice filled with admiration. "She's become an amazing Pokémon Performer, and her dedication and passion are truly inspiring. But it's more than that. I feel something deeper, something that I can't quite put into words."
As if on cue, a shooting star streaked across the sky, capturing Ash's attention. He watched its luminous trail with a mix of awe and hope, as if the cosmos itself was listening to his musings.
"I guess what I'm trying to say, Pikachu," Ash murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, "is that Serena means a lot to me. She's more than just a friend. There's a connection between us, something that I can't ignore. It's like... we've been through so much together, and it's shaped who we are."
Pikachu nuzzled closer to Ash, as if offering his silent support. Ash smiled, his heart warming at the comforting presence of his loyal partner.
Looking down at Pikachu, Ash's smile grew wistful. "You know, Pikachu, it's not just Serena. I've formed incredible bonds with so many people and Pokémon back home. Dawn, Brock, they're all like family to me. And then there are my Pokémon. Each one has played a unique role in my journey, shaping me into the trainer I am today."
He paused, memories of his past adventures flooding his mind. "I miss them, Pikachu. I miss the laughter and the camaraderie we shared. I miss the feeling of stepping into a new town, ready to take on a gym challenge or participate in a thrilling competition. But most of all, I miss the familiarity and comfort of being surrounded by loved ones."
A pang of guilt tinged Ash's thoughts as he continued. "I can't help but think of Mom, Pikachu. She's always been there, supporting me from the very beginning. I remember the delicious meals she used to make, how she'd pack my backpack with extra supplies and wish me luck on my journey. She's worried about me, I know it. And I hate making her worry."
Pikachu nudged Ash gently, his eyes filled with understanding. It was a silent reassurance, reminding Ash that his mother loved him unconditionally and understood the path he had chosen.
"You're right, Pikachu," Ash said, his voice filled with a mix of determination and remorse. "I need to make sure she knows I'm okay, that I'm doing everything I can to make it back home. I owe it to her and to everyone who believes in me."
As the crackling fire continued to cast its warm glow, Ash's thoughts turned back to Serena. The image of her bright smile and unwavering support fueled his resolve.
"I'll find a way back, Pikachu," Ash declared, his voice tinged with determination. "I'll find a way to reunite with Serena, Dawn, Brock, and all the others. I'll make things right, and together, we'll create new memories and embark on new adventures."
Pikachu chirped softly, his voice carrying a sense of optimism. It was a reminder that their bond, forged through countless trials and triumphs, would endure any challenge.
With renewed purpose, Ash stared up at the stars, their glittering presence a reminder of the vastness of the world and the infinite possibilities that awaited them.
"One day," Ash whispered, his voice carrying a hint of excitement, "we'll be back under the same sky, surrounded by the friends and Pokémon we hold dear. Until then, Pikachu, we'll make the most of this journey, we'll keep growing stronger, and we'll never lose sight of our goal."
Pikachu nestled against Ash, his warmth and unwavering support a constant reminder that they were in this together. As they continued to gaze at the stars, the flickering flames of the campfire mirrored the flicker of determination in Ash's eyes.
No matter how far away from home he was, no matter the challenges that lay ahead, Ash knew that love, friendship, and an unbreakable bond would guide him back to where he belonged.
….
Ash had finally reached the Ancient Retreat again. He knocked on the door and was welcomed again by Cogita. Volo wasn't there anymore.
"I see young one, you've done it… I sense the urgency in your eyes. Come on, let me guide you to the Shrouded Ruins."
Ash didn't have time to object to her when a strong gust of wind blew him and Pikachu off his feet.
He recovered quickly only to see a Pokémon approaching the woman. She turned and said, smiling calmly: "It's called Enamorus."
Enamorus was a pink, slim humanoid Pokémon, which resembles a genie. It had white hair tied back, with thick strands shaped like a heart on top of its head, white lips, and two pointed pink ears on either side of its head with a small strand of hair falling in front of them from the temples. Its eyes are yellow with beady white irises and no visible pupils.
Ash was shocked to see another new Pokémon and so was Pikachu who wanted to return to his Poké Ball for a moment to recover from the shock before realizing what his Poké Ball was still containing and how out of his character this was.
"Come on Ash, follow me on your Braviary!"
With that, the duo set off to the Shrouded Ruins.
….
As they approached the entrance of the ruins, Ash's heart quickened with anticipation. The air was heavy with otherworldly energy, and the faint echoes of forgotten history whispered through the crumbling stone structures. Cogita, equally intrigued by the mystique of the place, followed closely behind.
Navigating through the winding corridors and intricate chambers, Ash's determination never wavered. He knew that finding the Red Chain was crucial to their mission. The Red Chain, said to be a powerful artifact capable of controlling legendary Pokémon, was his key to restoring balance and harmony to the timeline.
After what felt like hours of exploration, they reached a massive chamber at the heart of the ruins. Pieces of red stones were all embedded in the walls. Ancient symbols adorned the walls, their meanings lost to time. In the center of the chamber was resting a stone pedestal.
Cogita guided Ash to leave the plumes, the claws and the fangs collected on it and suddenly a red light engulfed the pedestal. It quickly dimmed as the Red Chain was now laying atop it.
Ash's eyes widened in awe as he approached the artifact. The Red Chain shimmered with an ethereal glow, its power palpable in the air. He reached out and carefully picked it up, feeling a surge of energy coursing through his veins.
Cogita looked on, her expression a mix of excitement and reverence. She understood the significance of this moment, knowing that the fate of their world rested on Ash's shoulders.
"Congratulations lost one," Cogita said, her voice filled with admiration. "You've obtained the legendary Red Chain. With this, we can take one step closer to restoring the balance of time."
Ash nodded a determined glint in his eyes. "Thanks, Cogita. But we can't waste any time. I need to return to Jubilife Village and check on Akari before leaving for Mount Coronet."
Cogita mumbled something: "Yes, I understand your heart. I will keep the Red Chain until you come back. This item was forged only for us and I don't want to put it at risk with you going back to your village of disbelievers.
Ash thought of it for a bit but didn't have more of a chance. As the woman made her way back to entrance, the boy nodded to Pikachu who waited behind until he was alone, and no noise could be heard to slam his Iron Tail on the walls extracting a big rock full of red jewels. Greninja had communicated the boy about the nature of those gems and so they had decided to take a sample back to Jubilife to help Laventon.
Greninja made his appearance and took the rock from the mouse who sprinted back toward Ash while Greninja took another road, ready to complete his task.
As they emerged from the ruins, the sun began to set, casting a warm golden hue over the landscape. Ash couldn't help but feel a surge of hope in his heart. He had obtained the Red Chain, the key to unlocking a brighter future.
…..
The morning sunlight filtered through the windows of Laventon's studio as Ash entered, his tired eyes meeting the professor's gaze. Pikachu perched on his shoulder, showing signs of exhaustion from the recent events. The air in the room felt heavy with urgency, and Laventon wasted no time in acknowledging Ash's return.
"So, you've returned," Laventon stated, his voice tinged with a sense of relief. "I knew you could accomplish this mission."
Ash nodded, a mix of weariness and determination etched on his face. "Yeah, but the cloaked man is still out there and we won't be safe until we stop him."
The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on Ash's mind as he recounted the events. The dangerous encounter had left its mark on him, reminding him of the risks involved in this mission.
Laventon leaned back in his chair, sipping his tea, his expression thoughtful. "I see. Well, you've done well, Ash. Your bravery and resourcefulness have not gone unnoticed."
Ash shifted uncomfortably, his mind still filled with worries. "Thanks" he merely said, the thought of Akari being hurt still roaming freely in his mind.
Laventon's gaze softened, understanding the weight of Ash's guilt. "Ash, it's important to remember that sometimes things are beyond our control. You did everything you could to protect her. Blaming yourself won't change the situation. Focus on what you can do now."
The professor then shifted the conversation to the matter at hand, reaching for a small box on his desk. "On a different note, thanks to your efforts, we have a backup plan in case things with Cogita and Volo goes wrong."
He opened the box, revealing a spherical device with intricate patterns and glowing runes. Ash's eyes widened with curiosity as he studied the unique creation.
"The Origin Ball has the power to capture and contain legendary Pokémon," Laventon explained. "It's a tool that can be instrumental in your mission to restore the timeline. It's still not finished as I got my hands on the gems Greninja brought me only two days ago, but I will take it to you tomorrow morning."
"Thank you, Laventon," Ash said, his voice filled with gratitude. "I won't let you down…"
Laventon stood up from his chair, the atmosphere in the room becoming charged with purpose.
With a nod, Ash turned to leave, Pikachu hopping off his shoulder to join him. Before he exited the studio, Laventon called out to him once more.
"Ash," Laventon said gently, his voice carrying a note of compassion. "It's not your fault. Don't forget that."
Ash paused, his back still turned to the professor, as he absorbed Laventon's words. A mixture of emotions swirled within him, but he found solace in the professor's reassurance.
"Thank you, Laventon," Ash whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of gratitude and determination. "I won't forget."
With those words, Ash left the studio, his mind focused on the task ahead.
….
With a heavy heart, Ash made his way to the Medical Corp's office, hoping for any signs of improvement in Akari's condition. As he entered the room, he spotted Akari's Pokémon—Pikachu, Clefable, and Prinplup—gathered near her bed, their expressions filled with worry and relief upon seeing him.
"Pikachu, Clefable, Prinplup," Ash greeted them softly, his voice filled with a mixture of gratitude and concern. "Thank you for taking care of her."
The three Pokémon nodded, their eyes reflecting their deep bond with their trainer and their shared concern for Akari's well-being. Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder to comfort Clefable and Prinplup.
In a corner of the room stood also Greninja, leaning against the wall. Ash turned to him: "Thanks Greninja, you did an incredible job" he said, proudly shaking his hand with his frog companion. Pikachu joined the interaction.
Ash approached Akari's bedside, his heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. As he reached out to touch her hand, his eyes widened in disbelief. Akari's once-closed eyes fluttered open, revealing a glimmer of consciousness.
"Akari!" Ash exclaimed, his voice filled with a mixture of relief and joy. "You're awake!"
Akari's gaze slowly focused on Ash, her expression weak but filled with recognition. A faint smile graced her lips as she weakly squeezed his hand.
"Ash... you're back," she murmured, her voice barely audible.
Tears welled up in Ash's eyes as he leaned closer to her, his voice filled with tenderness. "I'm here, Akari. I'm so sorry for what happened. We'll find a way to make things right."
Akari's weak voice conveyed a sense of determination. "You will, Ash. I believe in you."
The room filled with a mix of emotions as the Pokémon watched over their trainer and friend. They, too, felt a renewed sense of hope, seeing Akari awake and aware.
Ash gently caressed Akari's cheek, his voice filled with determination. "We won't give up, Akari. We'll fix this and get everything back to normal. You'll be okay."
Akari mustered a small nod, her eyes reflecting trust in Ash's words. It was a long road ahead, but with Akari awake and the support of their Pokémon, Ash felt a renewed sense of purpose.
"We'll make things right once and for all," Pikachu chirped, his voice filled with unwavering loyalty.
