Chapter 5: I'm outta here
"Nope, I'm outta here.", I feel so dead right now. Why did you give the guy with a hyperactive condition something like a new life? Now he's going to fudge around and find out.
Anyway, a bit of a refresher, me and Satoshi consulted things with Mr. Skipper and straightened things out for the event today and for things coming on the week. Apparently, the opening ceremony is also going to introduce the teaching staff that will include quite a cast of heroes.
I'm still not interested though, but I got a tip that club day is also going to introduce the Student Council, which I'm for sure going to run a position in. I know it's going to be tiring but hell will it be very convenient for me for days to come.
Still, I have to consider how it will impact my schedule, because I still have a life to live and people to befriend.
Breaking my train of thought is the principal who is looks too old to be living right now, and I thought the queen looked well over her years, no wait, that's a bad comparison. In fact, she looks younger than anyone in her age range. May God bless the dead queen.
In other news, I finally determined that Black Shadow Stone is indeed a passive ability, which rare among abilities for it's ability to not only NOT consume energy but also increase it. And the fact that I can deactivate that state is fantastical in several levels, I don't want to be stuck looking like I fell in a vat of Vanta Black.
With that, I had the perfect getaway plan. Turning everything inside of me into Black Shadow Stone, I then strung them as thin wires and released then from under my seat before they snaked out of the auditorium. Thankfully the first years are near the exit.
If anyone cuts the wire, it can still merge back together, and it's thin enough to be inconspicuous. So not only do I have a dummy to listen in for me, I can bail and do whatever.
It's perfect!
___
Wincy Willover
___
Wincy had an interesting day, she didn't know whether it was bad or good which made her feel tired, so ultimately she felt bad?
She'd finished borrowing some books in the library after coming into the academy early morning before coming into the classroom. Inside, her passive kicked up, telling her that someone looked at her.
But no one was in the room, until she made eye contact with him that is. A boy with fresh white hair and upturned red eyes. She didn't notice his slightly wet getup, which is to be expected, and that would have raised questions in this kind of weather.
She didn't expect someone to actually be here this early. He had a confident air about him, was it his posture? Or his face? She didn't consider that, much less tell.
Wincy could tell that he was sleepy though. Maybe he was thinking of taking a nap? That would explain why he's currently invisible, he's even in his seat.
'Huh, he knows?', She could see the guy pause and make eye contact with her before waving. It was one thing to see someone look at you, but it's also another thing to determine that their power didn't work.
'Who is this guy?', With only one interested thought, she made a conversation she never usually starts, "What's your name?"
Things rolled from there, she's never met a Runner before and this one, Kaizen, was different from all she heard.
'It's fascinating, he's a human trafficking victim. I feel bad for him.', She was actually more curious to know about the situation then but before she could mull that over, Kaizen asked for her name.
In a way, she woke up and answered with a bit of her usual attitude and introduced herself as Wincy.
'Kaizen, I guess I'll remember that.', Wincy inwardly smirked before quipping him back to his compliment. She didn't mind the words but she hoped he isn't one of those overly flirtatious guys, "Uh huh? We'll see about that, hot shot"
"I don't miss, miss.", Kaizen gave her a firm handshake before turning to other stuff. Wincy was slightly impressed but couldn't quite point out why, she just threw it to the back of her mind, not thinking much about it.
Kaizen however was a weird one himself that kept her guessing. He startled his seatmate, which was funny, but then he changed his tune by taking hold on the elections with a kind of energy she didn't think he had, it took a certain kind of guts after all.
'What is he doing?', Wincy would ask herself, but she rather wanted to know why he did it. Without an answer, she just accepted the fact that that guy became their VP, not like she didn't vote for him, she did since she found him reliable.
At last she saw him off with Satoshi going off doing something, she thought about talking to him again but, 'I don't want to, he might be annoying with that smug grin of his.', she was already kicking off with her feet mulling over it.
In short, she kind of thinks negatively of him?
The day droned on with he reading interesting stuff in a book before she made way to the opening ceremony. As in typical fashion, she also felt bored out of her mind. She couldn't quite find it in herself to listen, only half-listening.
She was more annoyed by some stares directed at her, 'Do they know not to stare??'
Especially as a woman, it's very creepy. She can catch anyone staring at her.
'It's like they don't have anything better to do.', Wincy felt like she could scoff knowing they're also not paying attention to the emcee introducing the new staff.
That said, she seemed to have broke her own rule when she noticed something strange, a strange electric feel swept her as she looks over to the side. Something black, something alive.
There again, Kaizen, doing something. She didn't know but he's up to something, and that black thin substance moving definitely is something.
She then got an idea.
___
Kaizen
___
It felt strange being an organic liquid, I could only function well due to every part of my body acting like neurons, passing signals around. In fact, my whole body is basically the brain at this point, which is strange in it's own way.
Forming back, I became a black humanoid figure. With a thought, I made myself shorter for more insurance and obscured my appearance before heading off to the library, which was on the same floor.
I wasn't going to do anything drastic so I decided to chill with books because I wanted to experiment with some things.
An hour in and I found how convenient my ability is. I can create several eyes for myself.
In fact, Indifference wasn't as simple as it seemed. I can to know my whole biological makeup to recreate my limbs. Thankfully, the Hazakura element of this ability gives me heightened amounts of thinking ability.
This is also why the original user can make so many deadly weapons, and it's all because of his acquired knowledge... that psycho.
I don't seem to be able to create several limbs though, which is weird. I thought I could make many eyes, but I couldn't, just recreate them after deformation, or in a likely scenario where my eyes get hit, regenerate them.
Good news, I can make my eyes split from each other, and I can read two books at one time with my mental capabilities. Slightly bad news, I know I can do more but I've only got 2 eyes. Actually, I had to slightly close my dummy's eyelids just so no one noticed a student with gaping eyeholes.
With roleplaying as twin cyclops out of the way, I also experimented with molding my liquid into several weapons and with great pleasure, I was able to unconsciously form different weapons I saw Kurosawa (The original user) form using his liquid.
With that, I was opened up to more forms that I never got to see him use... and oh boy does it give a tear in a torturer's eye.
I can't believe I'm using this to fight against villains, again, it's the hibbie jibbies, I tell you.
"Cypher, Silencio, Death, Dystopia, Abominable, Terrorizer, Mr. Clock...", I was focusing on a lot of well known villains, some are soon to be participating in The Great Filter. Others... well, I wouldn't take the hero mantle without planning on a way to defeat them.
It's a lot of work, and I could imagine lots of people in my situation backing out, but I have to say. There really needs to be end this, figuring all that out may be a tedious promise, but I know it's going to workout.
"Tch, nothing on Geist, Peony, and Screamer.", It's to be expected, they're Black Thorn Assassins, you're not finding squat with them.
They're the heaviest hitters in the future operation, and I can't find anything about them. I should look through the internet sometime too.
On the other hand, I love learning now because everything digests better in my mind. Did you know the mitochondria is the power of the cell?
Yeah, dingus, if you thought I was an idiot then you'd be gullible as hell to think I only learned that now.
That being said, I was actually introduced to a more comprehensive stock of knowledge in biology, and it's leaning towards topics of biochemistry and protein sequencing that I never thought was possible.
I wouldn't be surprised if this world solved cancer. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if this world made something worse that cancer.
Hayst, you win some, you lose some, y'know?
While reading, I noticed a certain girl wielding a chair as a defensive measure, sizing me up.
Huh? How did you get here, Wincy?
